Okay I might owe Samsung an apology. As Steve Jobs would say, "You're holding it wrong". I can't be totally sure but my mic problems might have been my clumsy fingers blocking one of them. The audio I got from the videos I took of my daughter's Halloween festival at school yesterday was amazing. I took Full HD video at 60fps and it looks amazing. The stereo sound is so immersive it sounds like I'm there again when I play it back through my good Sony EarPods.

Edit to add it is my S7Edge. Also, there was no overheating on my Edge. On my last Note7 it got scary hot just taking short video clips. Yesterday I was doing 8-9 minute clips and lots of photos.

I'm now one and half weeks into using my S7 Edge and it's been great so far. Pretty much everything is snappy and it's nice to be able to handle payments on my phone as well as do other NFC goodies like checking my public transit travelcard balance.

It's nice to have a waterproof phone with such a great camera. Last weekend I was shooting some pictures and they looked really nice on the phone screen. However, this can sometimes be a little misleading, so I decided to check them also on my iPad Air 2 and I was blown away when the pictures were still amazing.

Samsung also seems to have improved their software within the last couple of years. Back in the day when I was helping my brother set up his S3 and S4 devices, I was quite lost as I was used to stock Android. Now I haven't even changed the launcher but just applied the Material Dark theme to the stock launcher. I didn't see myself going with the stock Samsung launcher for any time that's feasible to measure with a calendar, but here I am still. I'm actually glad I didn't just go straight to my usual Nova launcher as I would've had a severely outdated impression about the stock launcher in that case. Let's hope this phone feels as good as it does now also after a couple of more months and Samsung keeps the security updates coming in. I'm still on the September patches, so here's one area to improve. I also have had some accidental touches from the edges, but I'm hoping a sturdier case takes care of that.

I've now been using my S7 for a few months and it is without a doubt the best phone I ever owned. I love the camera. Fast. Great quality. Love the screen. Did I mention it's fast? Macrumors forums in particular – on all my other Android devices the forum loads, then the ad loads, pushes the menu down, but I never remember the ad is coming, so I press the menu option and open the ad. Not on S7.

There is a caveat though. Sometimes it warms up for no apparent reason. Which scares me because #explodegate. It doesn't get scary hot, just surprisingly warm for what is doing (which is often nothing). I would also appreciate a fix for the Android System process eating battery for breakfast, but it's not a massive problem because with my use case I sail through the day, still have 40% to spare in the evening, put the phone on a wireless charger by my bed (best invention ever, not the bed, well – the bed too), wake up, all is ready. I don't quite understand why, when I open a photo from Dropbox straight into my Album app, I can't set it as wallpaper. I collect nature photos and switch wallpapers regularly, trying to find the most beautiful photograph ever. I have to Dropbox > Share > Export to device, Album > open photo > set as wallpaper. But when those are my biggest gripes... they've done something very, very right.

I put Nova Launcher on it, because that's what I always do, so I can't really speak about Samsung software. S3 was a nightmare. Z3 Compact was great. Z5 Compact is really average. S7 is fantastic. That's all :)

I'm revisiting the idea of picking up a S7/S7e but I was curious how the 930U/935U versions are doing with the monthly security updates? I know when they first released they weren't getting them as quickly as the other models. Is this still the case?

Also, the "U" versions support Verizon, but last I checked they didn't support wifi calling, VoLTE or visual voicemail on Verizon, is this still also the case?

Thanks!

I sold one of my friends a Galaxy S7 Edge, he was using a busted screen Galaxy S3 the past few years. He loves it, he said he only charges his phone every 4 days but he doesn't really use a phone like a typical person. He doesn't do email, apps or games and rarely uses a phone. He didn't give specifics so I don't know if he turns it off at times or what.

I'm impressed with the battery life of my edge. I somehow forgot to charge my phone the other night and got to work with 45% and was like "groan, the end of the world" but got home with over 25%.
Then I remembered power savings mode lol....

Had mine about 3-4 weeks now, love it. Like others are saying, battery life is excellent.

I no longer have that "battery anxiety" thing of thinking "Oh I'd better charge it just in case" as it genuinely does last as long as I need - even with Google Maps on!

I know the Pixel is newer and shinier etc but I'm super happy with my S7 Edge and it just does 95% of things I need it to do well, pretty fast and the camera is obviously excellent too.

It's also big enough to stop me using it in bed late at night before I go to sleep - my S6 Edge was too ergonomic, I wanted a bigger phone to help deter me from sabotaging my sleep!!

I am amazed by my S7Edge, too. It could be my only phone except it tends to heat up in my pocket (my IPhones don't) and the all-glass construction makes my pocket a bad place for it as my yard work can get a bit rough going sometimes. I'm okay with metal but glass would not be good. However, I am surprised I can pocket the Edge comfortably at all. I could not comfortably accommodate my 6SPlus at all. Samsung has done well making large phones ergonomic.

But I'm starting to question the wisdom of folks keeping phones in pockets anyway, for health reasons. The articles I've read on the cancer risks from cell phone radiation seem inconclusive but still very concerning. I have only my own recent health scare now to go by...but that's inconclusive, too. But also very concerning.

Factor in all those anecdotes of non Note 7s catching fire in pockets...holsters and fanny packs are starting to look appealing. Well...maybe appealing isn't the right word. :p

The Battery Life, Camera, and Display are excellent! Loving mine to :)

The battery lasts longer without Power Saving Mode than what my Note4 did when it was in Power Saving Mode, lol, and that phone lasted long!

Just my luck :( I've had this S7 Edge for a little over two weeks now and I managed to drop it for the first time today. Unfortunately that was all it took to break the screen at the lower right corner. There was the raised corner of the Samsung Clear Cover case to protect the phone, and even though the corner had a raised lip, an impact got through just behind it. Fortunately all the cracks are outside the active area of the screen, but it's still nasty to look at and water resistance is most likely severely reduced. Maybe I'll have to get this one repaired and get it covered with insurance.

Woops.Thats bad news :( Thats why I always use Spigen Rugged case on all my devices.Doesnt add too much bulk although transparency is sacrificed

Week 3 with my S7 Edge, and I am just thoroughly loving it, I must say the IP68 Dust and Water Resistance has been truly reassuring, especially during and after gym, I can sweat like a mofo use the phone while dripping with sweat and then dunk the phone in some clean water to clean it afterward :D

Coming from the Note 4 I thought I'd hate the Curved display, but I'm actually loving it even for video. I tend to watch a lot of YouTube car reviews and tutorials for working on cars and phones, and watching these vids in bed in the dark with the Edge display is great, gives this nice effect when the video fills the screen.

Battery Life, one word: Phenomenal, even if you just top it up to around 70%, e.g. before a nite out and morning after the damn thing keeps going, I only have to plug in when back home going to bed, and by the time it has around 25-30%.

Truly fantastic allround device this. :)

All I can say is that I'm currently typing this on my 6s and can't wait to get my S7E back from the screen repair. After that I'll be using a sturdier case with it. I have a Spigen Rugged Armor waiting and I've also considered an Otterbox Strada. I'd like to hear also other good suggestions if someone has them :)
