I may jump to an s7 edge black onyx version until the s8 rolls around just to sport the new color as it looks amazing.

Even after the s8 is released, I'll want to wait to confirm their quality control is back on point. With what is likely going to be a redesign, it wouldn't hurt to let all the kinks get worked out first.

I'm sure what ever the launch promo for the s8 is it will be legend. I'm all in on preordering s8. With jump on demand there is no risk.

I think I found the first device I might jump to. Supposed to be glossier than the Note 7 black onyx color, similar to the iPhone's.

Gotcha! New Glossy Black version of the Galaxy S7 edge leaked in its full glory, looks stunning

I love the all black frame.

Too bad the Samsung logo isn't all black too. Or at least a darker shade.

Side note: I know Samsung often releases new colors down the road, but boy are they leaning really heavily on the s7 and s7 edge. Sad that they have no choice and nothing else thanks to the Note 7 debacle. It was their year to lose. Sad for them, sad for the customers.

True, but at least the S7 and S7e are great phones.

Its almost like Samsung knew the Note7 debacle was going to happen, so they made the S7 Edge with a 5.5inch Display to protect themselves, its a nice fit between S and Note series.

I was very reluctant to get the S7 Edge at 1st after the Note7 disaster, but after watching countless reviews of S7 Edge, LG V20, Google Pixel XL, even going as far as considering an iPhone 7 Plus (this idea was quickly shot down after picking up my iPad Air 2 to do something, and was reminded of iOS's limitations), I noticed a trend, it was that the S7 Edge is the best allround device, from the brilliant Camera, excellent Battery Life, unique and compact design, best Display around etc etc etc... Reviews kept mentioning the S7E, almost like a benchmark, where it lost it lost by a tiny margin, where it won it won outright by a big margin.

I hope Samsung don't drop the ball with the S8 Edge, as they did a superb job with the S7 Edge, truly enjoying mine. :)

Isn't the S7 Edge a laggy hiccuping phone ? Blows me away how much smoother and lag free the Pixel is in comparison.

I tried the S7 Edge at both T-Mobile and Best Buy, and it felt laggy and choppy. Where my old Nexus 6P felt buttery smooth in comparison.

Same here. Display models tend to lag like it's going out of style. Somewhat interestingly, the only android phone I've seen that avoids this is the Pixel. Guess their demo mode is much lighter than other OEMs.

My point is, over the years shopping in carrier stores, and the few that sold Nexus phones, I recall the Nexus being plane Jane, but always so buttery smooth and fast in the store, and the hot phone of the year, be it Samsung or HTC, or LG always had some micro stutter, or slight lag.

Back in the Nexus-S days that Nexus was smoooooth, and the other Android phone's not so much.

Same with the Motorola Nexus 6, on display that Moto 6 was so hot butter smooth and fast, and the current other phones not even close to the same.

And now the Pixel, go to Verizon, play with the Pixel, then play with the S7 Edge or LG G5 or whatever, no other phone in the store seems to perform as warp speed fast, but also just so smooth and lag free.

Yeah I guess display models are going to be inconsistent compared to users models.

I can't comment on the Pixels compared to my phone as I've never tried one and tend avoid using display models as a real world test of a device.

Point taken. :)

My S7 is a beast, IMO, on my way home from work, moderate use 83% battery left..
Certain apps tend to show a bit of lag or hesitation but only those particular apps, none of the core phone apps or functions.

I've kinda gotten over the Note 7 but still miss certain aspects, the spen being the obvious one.

There isn't a single phone I've used that doesn't have some micro lag or stuttering somewhere, that goes for every OS from Symbian, WM, iOS, Android to WP.

My S7 Edge is fast and smooth with minimal micro lag and stuttering, so I am very happy with it :) much faster than my Note 4.

Indeed!

The battery life on the S7 Edge is nuts! :D

I HAVE to make sure I use it heavily when I get home, otherwise I go to bed with like 50-60% battery left, lol!

There are 5 main things I want in my smartphone:

- Great Battery Life with Heavy usage
- A large, sharp & vivid Display
- Expandable Memory
- Top quality Camera
- Good Ergonomics

The S7 Edge ticks all 5 easily :) and then adds things like IP68 Water and Dust Resistance, a ton of other features that require less fluid 3rd party apps if available for the Pixel, far better after sales support where I am etc...

The Google Pixel XL is far too boring, IMO, and having being spoilt by the Samsung Note series, the move to the S7 Edge was the most I could take, moving to any other manufacturer would have meant saying good bye to a lot of things I like that Samsung put in.

Are all of you guys running rooted or custom ROM's on your S7 Edge to get amazing battery life ? or does this phone just have really good battery life overall ?

I haven't run Custom ROMs since my Galaxy S3 4years ago, I would often go overboard with the Modding and hate it after a while so I no longer Root or use Custom ROMs. The S7E just has great battery life.

Mine is as stock as stock gets..
My daily usage isn't going to be as hardcore as most people here, I have work to do! :)
I check emails and texts and take photos while working but during my breaks, which total an hour, my phone is being used constantly.

I've been saying this for years.

Same argument about stability. It turns out, iOS apps crash more often than Android's. In my experience, this has been true.

People have this notion that their chosen OS is perfect in every way, when none of them are in terms of lags and stutters.

I see micro lags and slight stutters on both my S7 Edge and iPad Air 2, but both are fast, fluid and do their jobs VERY well.

My S7 is the second least laggy phone I used after Xperia Z3 Compact. But that one is impossibly good.

I so wish I bought Edge now. I thought it's too large. Well. Changed my mind now :(

Kinda Urgent Question:

So Carphone Warehouse are offering me good value to trade-in my S7e for a Google Pixel. Money wise it works for me.

But I can't have both phones at the same time - I need to wipe and give in my Samsung before they will validate the purchase of the Pixel!

How can I get transfer my stuff across to the Pixel?

I went from an iPhone 6S+ to an S7 and I kinda wish I would have went with the edge for the extra battery life. I like the size of the S7, but I can burn through this battery.

My primary goal was reducing my monthly payment which is why I went with the S7. This is saving me 12 bucks a month, but I'm charging this thing a lot.

Invest in a couple of wireless chargers if you can. I have a few scattered about so I let my phone top off whenever I set it down at work or at home. I never worry about battery life. Sometimes, I leave work with 100%.

Black Friday would seem like a good time to check out some deals. :)

I plan on getting some for sure! Other than battery life and a few other things I'm enjoying this phone. My first Android since the LG G2 and it's pretty solid.
