Here's a few observations about my S7 after almost two weeks coming from two years on an iPhone 6 and 6S+.

The camera is fantastic. I love how fast I can launch it with the home button and take a good picture. The screen is awesome, even on videos that are 720 and 1080p. I really like the former factor. I've got an otterbox symmetry case and it's still comfortable for one handed use. Android has come a long way since I used an LG G2 for sure!

I hate to say negatives, but things I preferred on my iphone: fingerprint sensor was so much better. Battery life was much better even though my iPhone hasn't been lasting as long as it used too. I can't type as well on this phone. I've tried several keyboards. Right now I'm on the Samsung keyboard, but I'm probably going to switch back to the Google keyboard. My iPhone was snappier, but after a day I don't notice the difference.

This is my first Samsung and so far I'm really enjoying it.

Glad you're liking it so far. What browser are you using? I've been a big fan of Samsung's stock browser. The biggest selling point for me is the Fingerprint login for websites and full screen mode with no status bar. When it comes to keyboards, I've used SwiftKey forever. I actually use the modded one from xda. It's got a lot of nice custom themes. Swyping with SwiftKey is really accurate.

I agree about the fp scanner, Samsung is getting beat by budget and midrange android phones in that area

I'm using the stock Samsung browser. I really don't care for Chrome. I used to be a big swiftkey user and I've tried it on this phone, but it doesn't seem as accurate as it used to be. I think learning to swype is my best bet for accurate and fast typing on any of these keyboards.

Agree on this. This is one area the s7 has shown its age.

One of the things I'm looking forward to in the s8 is the removal of the home button. With it, I hope a faster finger print reader. Rumor has it that it could be under the display with technology to read finger prints much faster and more accurately. Forgot what it was called exactly.

I saw a video the other day talking about that. Sounds really neat!

The Fp scanner on my Edge doesn't work very well for me anymore. Same thing happened with my SE and 6S Plus scanners. They work well for awhile but then need me to rescan my prints every other week or so. It's really annoying.

But my HTC 10 fingerprint scanner/home "button" works beautifully all the time. Even when it's grungy. It is not a true button bit more like the ones on the iPhone 7's. I thought I wouldn't like it as much as a real button but I actually far prefer it. So if Samsung goes this route I think it will be a nice change, too.

Sammys are a lot of fun. I have my HTC 10 set up with my primary number because it's a really excellent phone. But when it comes time for me to browse the web or do mail, I pick up my S7 Edge. The mail app is really good, for one thing. And the browser is another plus. I'm using the Gmail app and Firefox on the HTC 10 and they're okay. Just okay. I'm glad I'm able to own both phones.

I had my 6S+ for a year and the fingerprint scanner was lightning fast and reliable the entire time. I'm getting better at placing my finger correctly on this Samsung, so it's getting the job done.

Near as I can tell from other people's observations on the forum, people who are involved in jobs or tasks that require a lot of hand washing seem to have the most trouble with the finger print scanners. I am a housewife and do gardening and landscaping for my property and a few others and do various things for animal rescue, so I'm washing my hands several times a day for the sake of proper sanitation working amongst so many potential sources of pathogens. I think all the washing up messes my fingerprints up and I'm sure lotions I use to keep my hands from chapping have some effect even if they do not leave a visible residue.

So far it doesn't seem to throw off the HTC 10 sensor very often. I'd love to see how well the one on the iPhone 7 would work for me. But I'm not curious enough to buy one at this point.

Finally got my S7 Edge back from the repair shop and enjoying it once again :) I'm now using a Spigen Rugged Armor which looks like more protective against drops compared to the Samsung Clear Case, but I'm still pondering whether to go for the OtterBox Strada. Has anyone tried that case?

I've got the Rugged Armor case for my S7 Edge. I honestly think it's one of the slickest cases for the S7 Edge. So minimal in design. I only got it because I loved it on my Note 7 before going naked after the recall. I also now don't use a screen protector. After the Note 7 test run with going naked, I'll never go back to using a screen protector. Nothing beats the feel of just having the original display. My S7 edge is still scratch free. Sorta bugs me I used to spend so much on finding a good screen protector.

Jumped to the S7 edge Coral Blue last night. Forgot just how great the S7 edge is...loving the blue color. Reminds me of my N7 blue (rip good buddy). Tried to sign up for the Nougat beta program but it is full now and they are not taking anymore participants.
Ah! Severe envy here. Does it look exactly like the Note7 color?

I saw Samsung was running a nice Black Friday deal on unlocked S7's. You get a free Gear VR headset and the S7 itself is 550. So I texted it to my husband for my Christmas wish list. I asked for black. I would have liked the pure black they might be bringing out but I think that may only be for the Edge model. Even if it isn't, the current black color suits me fine and at $550 it's a price I'm comfortable with. But it's just on my wish list. Does not mean I will get it. I also have a Sony camcorder on my wish list. And pajamas. Striped Christmas pajamas. Lol.

It was hard to come up with anything to put on a wish list. I've got about 8 really nice quality handbags and purses that should last me possibly the rest of my life if I take care of them.

I just bought new tennis shoes. Got some new socks. I got a vacuum cleaner a few months ago. New dinnerware. I have a lot of jewelry after so many years of shopping and getting gifts. I got a new camera last Christmas. I'm all set for headphones.

I guess I need new gardening tools. I wore down all my pruning shears. And I need a snow brush for my new truck.

Wow, I'm boring. :confused::(

Lol....you don't sound boring to me :)
The coral blue S7 edge looks just like the blue Note 7 I had to return (rip good buddy). I hope they have this color for the S8 launch! Stripped Christmas PJ's......very festive!

Does your husband by any chance have a Sister who is just as generous? Just asking for no particular reason :)

I really dig how the blue tends to shift under the right lighting.

I finally got my spigen ultra hybrid case in today and Friday the 128gb Samsung evo SD card. The case while adding a bit of bulk makes me slightly less nervous about using my phone while out and about.

So far I'm really digging the device. I have not rooted and for now don't plan to.

Oh I better not tell my husband that. I'd hate to see a grown man cry. He loved that coral blue a lot. He has a black S7 Edge now. I have a silver one. I'm not too upset because when I first fell for the looks of Samsung phones, it was for the silver S7Edge.

I hope for hubby's sake the S8 does launch in coral blue. He does plan to upgrade to the S8.

Glad you're liking it! I don't plan rooting either. But I can't wait for Nougat!

I registered for the beta program. Probably will be a while before I get it though since I'm late to the game.

I hear Nougat beta is very stable.

I registered on my S7 Edge and was able to download immediately after registering. Have you gone into settings to check for the update?

Only thing not working so far that I have seen is the display scaling. There are now three options and none of them work yet.
