a better place
Samsung's presentations have always been horrible, in my opinion, with the worst being the S4's tap-dancing and women-insulting presentation.

That said, the S6 and now S7 are excellent products. People don't talk about the presentations anyway cause most people don't watch them.

Yeah the S4 launch debacle was shocking indeed ...

I like the S7, as it seems to address most of the criticisms of the S6 by adding back waterproofing and SD storage expansion.

Did they get rid of the glass back too? I've always hated large glass panels on the back, as it's just having 2x the area that can shatter. Easily the worst design element of iPhone 4/4S and unfortunately copied in the Nexus 4, S6, and some Sony phones. As much as people hate plastic, I think it is actually a very good material for mobile phone exteriors.

Don't know what they were thinking with that one.

Do you happen to know the pixel-size for the S7's camera? I've read both 1.0um and 1.44um, which is a big difference.

Damn the Camera is lighting fast ....... starts at 3:20.

I tried doing that on my S6 Edge just now and not even close to snap pics that constantly quick.

This revision looks actually too round for my taste. I have not seen it in person yet, but from the looks of it I prefer the old S6 Edge in terms of aesthetics.

No compromises between the two sizes other than the obvious edge screen/features and larger battery.

This is how you do it, Apple.

Everything came true...

And I'm still catching up; no pressure sensitive screen? Thank god if true.
[doublepost=1456082816][/doublepost]Now to wait for reviews. And if that passes, then begins the wait for the price drops. :)

Well said, no OIS and screen resolution compromises!

Absolutely head and shoulders above the competition. I love the, "we listen to the people" and "we don't want to tell you what you want" comments. And that statement is completely backed up with these new ultra premium handsets. The two biggest criticisms (battery size and SD card) were answered. That's how its done. Bravo, now bring on the Note 6.

@MRU, told you not to get your hopes up for a touchwiz rebuild. =T

But hopefully it's as light as they've been promising. Sounds like a lot less pre installed apps and overall cleaner and leaner OS. Which is exactly what I hoped for.

Plus backed by the larger battery sizes (dat Edge battery!) and the 4gb of ram, hopefully everything comes together with the software to provide an even better experience to what is already a solid, reliable, and feature-rich OS.

Samsung is still driving the software direction in the right way year after year. Hopefully the combination of improved software with wicked hardware specs will minimize any potential issues.

I'm impressed. Samsung more or less kept the same body for the regular S6 and gave it a bigger battery, gave it IP68 water resistance, and microSD expandability. I'd still won't go Android but you have to give credit where credit is due.

The two things I want on the iPhone more than anything else are water resistance and better battery life. I hope Apple delivers.

Well I called it about Touchwiz. .... I hope to god they at least fixed the memory managment though ...

Is the edge available in Silver ? I am looking at Samsung UK/Germany/France stores and they only have it in black, white or gold.

It seems it will be €799 according to french website anyway.
I hope they trimmed it down and fixed the memory management.

Here is the silver

This! I really hope Apple delivers on these points, I used to have an Sony Xperia and the water resistance is a really nice feature.

My biggest complaints still stand:

No USB c is a bit of a shame. Buy okay if it means waterproofing. And okay if it means I don't have to spend money for new wires.

No larger internal storage than 32gb. This I'm petty grumpy about. But fine, you gave us back the expandable micro SD. And I guess that'll save me money and value because micro SDs are more affordable than what would've likely been a $100 upgrade cost for 64gb.

I guess I could put that extra $100 bucks I save toward the Edge variant instead this year... ;)

If those are the only complaints I have about this whole thing, then this is a win.

Samsung's "throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks" phase is over now.

Samsung seems to be more focused now on refining what works.

They are also obviously focused on VR too, which is a good thing, cause VR requires good hardware. The first thing I do, will be checking to see if or how long it takes for the S7 Edge to overheat while using the Gear VR.

I'm in. Just need to decide when...

This snippet about the camera from GSMa hands-on is pretty astonoshing given how reliable and highly regarded the s6 range was:

Samsung had set up a low-light test setup and the Galaxy S7 edge camera wiped the floor with the S6 edge+ camera.

It was an easy win too, the camera sensor now gets 56% more light due to its larger pixels and 25% extra due to the brighter aperture. Multiply one by the other and you realize the Galaxy S7 has 95% more light to work with.

Well said.

And me too. I really hope Apple steps up with the iPhone 7. I fear their breaking record sales signals to them that they don't have to. Apple really needs to start competing on more fronts. They shouldn't continue this trend of being slow and selective, and pretend that that's good for us. You can give consumers more features without compromising the current fanbase.

We'll see this summer. Fingers crossed.

If anyone spies a dual SIM Exynos S7 let me know - that'd be my first pick. And if it came in silver, all the better.

So f/1.7 aperture and 1.44um pixels vs. f/2.2 and 1.22um for the 6s (and no OIS). Yeah, makes the iPhone look like a joke. Can't defend Apple this time, even if I want to.
