Samsung's "throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks" phase is over now.

Samsung seems to be more focused now on refining what works.

They are also obviously focused on VR too, which is a good thing, cause VR requires good hardware. The first thing I do, will be checking to see if or how long it takes for the S7 Edge to overheat while using the Gear VR.

I always said, if Samsung sticks this landing, the haters will have a few things less to talk about.

I'm in. Just need to decide when...

This snippet about the camera from GSMa hands-on is pretty astonoshing given how reliable and highly regarded the s6 range was:
That camera is setting the bar pretty dang high for everyone else! I can't wait to test it out myself!

How can people still prefer an iPhone when you see this? Well done Samsung for making the black home button actually black instead of silver around it.

So the S7s have an option to turn off the app drawer. You gotta wonder why LG didn't make it an option rather than just shove that in your face.

Android N is rumored to remove the app drawer too. Very odd decision. Maybe it isn't a coincidence this is in both lg and Samsung software.

Crazy.

NICE! I was all set to get the silver until you see them side side like that. I hate being able to see the camera and proximity sensors on the front of my phones. That silver looks too shiny and reflective for me. That's why i always get a black phone. Might have to get black again.....

Because taste is subjective .... I think the edge looks especially great, but that doesnt invalidate anyone else who prefers the look of the iPhone.
Almost everything is subjective, but that doesn't mean that people shouldn't try something else. The iPhone was famous for the premium look. Well those time are far behind us now.

But you asked how could anyone prefer an iphone. They can, its a choice .... One that is neither right or wrong.

I was actually questioning myself on the thoughts of it. Anyway anyone is free to get what they want. I'll stay with Android, which gives me the opportunity to switch from brand every year :).

It's becoming clearer and clearer to me that the Edge variant is the one to get this year.

The money saved on what would have likely been a $100 upgrade cost to get double the internal storage can now be put toward a full on hardware upgrade to the Edge variant.

Micro sd's are so affordable. The value for more storage is better spent there. And what you save you can put toward the more premium version.

The 3600 mah battery is what convinces me the most. And the fact that everything is in a package not much larger that the regular s7 (and actually smaller than the note 5!), you begin to realize the gains out weight the potential inconveniences of a larger device.

I've always been a regular size phone guy. I think I may be ready to go up finally.

S7 Edge looks to be the real winner here.

I buy so many phones each year it all becomes irrelevant to me :D lol. I'm on number 4 this year so far, S7 Edge would be 5 and were still in Q1 lol

Yup, I'll gladly pay up for camera progress.

As anyone with kids will know, the times when you miss the shot because of slow focus, shutter lag (hello Z5), absence of OIS, low light, etc is annoying...especially when it's things like a performance at a school play or a birthday party indoors that happen only once.

I'm glad Samsung stepped back from more megapixels and took a different approach.

Agreed! Samsung brought it all to the table with the S7.

Then poor LG...they have a great redesign with the G5. But chose to take on all that is Samsung and it would seem to have been swept aside. If you take on the big dawg....you better be careful not to get bit.

Does anyone realise HTC announced the HTC One X9 today ;)

Poor old HTC. Why do they do it to themselves ?
Them and LG....they are getting swept away by the Samsung hype.

I'm liking the fact that the S7 Edge is also slightly curved on the backside.

I wish they could have kept the IR sensor though, but no big deal.

That's fine. The market decides what they pay attention to and what they end up buying. If it's the S7, then Samsung did its job.
