And with the better and rounder edges, the device is apparently far more comfortable to hold.

A lot of people's complaints of the edge variants from last year were that the edge of the devices sometimes felt sharp.

Now it's more ergonomic, more round, and apparently more comfortable. And all for a 3600 mah battery!

What a win.

Yes. This is my biggest concern about the larger edge variant.

Could you elaborate more? Very hard one handed use? Is it impossible because of constant accidental palm touches? How is typing? Etc.

Others who know please chime in too.

Compared to the standard S6 or similar sized phones like the 6s, it felt harsh/sharp/uncomfortable. This meant holding and gripping it differently which resulted in unwanted touches.

It's like where my palm naturally wraps around the sides of other phones when one-handing is blocked/supported by the alu frame on the side. However on the edge this meant my palm was contacting the screen edge either registering as a touch and doing unwanted stuff or nullifying when i used my thumb (like a double touch in two separate areas). I had to flatten my hand and loosen thr grip which made me worried about drops. When walking around checking the phone this was a real annoyance.

I think you almost gave to two hand an edge device. One flat hand to rest on and one to operate. Maybe it's better this time but I'm leaning heavily to the standard s7.

Very informing. Thanks.

I'll have to get some real hands on time with the s7 edge before committing. Hopefully the slight design changes and better ergonomics addresses the issues you talk about.

If it doesn't, maybe s7 regular for me too.
[doublepost=1456113852][/doublepost]Closest thing I've seen to an early review video. If you have 10 minutes to kill, that is!

[doublepost=1456114288][/doublepost]Might just be the angle but the s7 edge looks great next to the s6 edge plus:

If

If you pre-order from T-Mobile, you get a free year of Netflix, plus the Gear VR and 6 games. And the phone can be unlocked after 30 days. Pre-orders start Tuesday in the US.

Wait! Where did you see the year free of Netflix?

Edit: Okay, I just saw it. Damn, that's how they got me the last time...

I am going to see if I can use a student discount on it too. Should be a good purchase w/ a little discount. Can't wait for the S7 Edge!!!

As I remember, the rumors were T-mobile and AT&T will get the Exynos version. And Sprint and Verizon will get the Snapdragon. I can't find any confirmation on that yet. But multiple blogs claim it's from a reliable source.

So that might not be true after all according to BestBuy's website, it shows AT&T version as Snapdragon.

I've never heard anyone say anything negative about holding their Edge model.

Actually when I look closely at mine the edge is smooth and rounded. My Edge model has been the best Galaxy I've had thus far and I've had everyone since the Galaxy line was introduced. I grip it securely and never have any issues. In fact the ergonomics are so good I never even thought about it.

Perhaps there's something wrong with yours.

S7 looks impressive. That presentation was pretty bad though. Again Samsung please stop bringing up iPhone. It hasn't worked in the past and why give Apple free press. I think they should focus on why you'd buy it over other android phones, especially ones that are cheaper.

Or he might have different sized hands than you? I love how people just dismiss other people's opinions by implying that there is something wrong with them if they differ from their own. I have huge hands so the regular s6 I have was never comfortable to hold with one hand outside of its case. Guess there is something wrong with my phone too...

Not really - unless they're all 'wrong'.

I'm not saying it's razor sharp but when compared to an S6, 6s etc, where the side/frame is deeper, the edge models taper to a much thinner frame because of the screen and thus they feel uncomfortable by comparison. If you go back and look at reviews from last year this was noted.

Since Samsung have curved the back of the S7 edge, which the presenter made a specific reference to during the unwrapping yesterday, they seemed to think ergonomics and feel in the hand could be improved, too.

I'll wait and see to get a hands on.

This is Samsung's tock year. The Galaxy S7s. LG went tick by thinking outside the box. I'm hoping HTC goes tick again because they went tock back-to-back.

Exactly! Samsung are so blinded from trying to compete with Apple that they don't compete as well with other Android phones. Just accept that iPhone users aren't going to switch to a phone which, in the eyes of lots, is bloated and hard to use.

What really irritates with all the hands on impressions either written or video is that not one addresses the elephant in the room. Has the memory management been addressed.

They have the hardware nailed down, but it's going to drive me nuts if the most powerful android on the market, can still only multitask like the most budget android handset.

Looks like we will have to wait until it's in real people's hands as it's quite clear from the impressions videos so far that people are being constrained about what they can say by the Samsung Marketing department (a common practice), hence they all read & sound like the entire class has copied each other's homework.

Fix it ... I'll purchase as soon as it's available here (usually beginning of April in Ireland)

Not fixed ... I'll wait a few months until the resale market has a lot of them and price has dropped considerably.

It feels at the moment were so close to perfect, and yet ... Still so far.

They haven't really talked much about the software. I think that we're seeing the same software as Marshmallow on the S6. Which is fine by me, because I've always hated how older phones don't get the TouchWiz features, and now I'm going to get everything on my S6 Edge+.

I don't mind if it looks like current touchwiz interface & launcher, i just want it to behave better ram wise.

For them to have made their new 2016 flagship perform in multitasking like other 2014/15 flagships.

I'm not asking for the moon on a stick :)

Yeah it's like Samsung forever compares their flagships directly to the iPhone which again hasn't worked. Now there's mid level android phones providing similar experiences which hurt Samsung even more.

It's like Samsung saying they listened to wants for expandable storage by bringing it back for the s7. Well so they didn't care when they took it away for the s6 huh? And again Samsung struggles in real product support. It's unbelievable that marshmallow still isn't available for the s6 line yet. I'm a big believer in that a big part of apples success is the post sales support they offer. Apple Store/phone support and service, of both hardware/software as well as timely updates with no influence from carriers or other oems show a focus with the consumer in mind.

Ok. I've had an S6 Edge for the last year and very happy with it. Stonking good looking phone and the wraparound screen got lots of admiring glances (or was that me?). Anyway the only gripe I have with the S6 was the battery life - Just not that great.

This S7 Edge may just address that failing and along with the SD card and camera improvements and hopefully some serious Touchwiz work, it might just be the nice evolution of the S6 that I was hoping for. So tempting.

Did I hear about dual sim instead of the SD card? That would be nice also as I currently have two phones for two different countries.

Shame there's no Emerald Green (It's an Irish thing!)

SD card is the main feature that is very good they have back. Should never of got rid
Well given it is only available in 32gb in most markets and does not fully support internal memory integration I would say it is a step back. I would rather buy a 128gb S6 edge or 64gb edge plus.

My 64gb Edge plus is currently my main driver because my 32gb Z5 premium with 200gb sd card does not cut it given the sd card limitations pre marshmallow.

For dual sim device, It will likely be a combo sim tray, so it will work as either two sims or a sim and microSD. A number of other OEM's offer it like this so I would imagine Samsung will follow same route.

Looks like no emerald green and no silver for Ireland (based on Samsung's European online stores)...
