If I've read correctly, the marshmallow update for older Samsung devices will get the always on display feature.

Interesting.

Looks like the US version will come with the Snapdragon 820 and the Canadian version with the Exynos.

Can't believe this honestly.

As I remember, the rumors were T-mobile and AT&T will get the Exynos version. And Sprint and Verizon will get the Snapdragon. I can't find any confirmation on that yet. But multiple blogs claim it's from a reliable source.

It looks great, but I still don't see much of a change between it and the S6, which is starting at about £399 now. Compared to £569/639 for the S7, that's damn good value. Only big change for me is battery, which isn't much of an issue for me.
However, their presentation of the phone is just atrocious. Let me give a few examples.

"We're launching a new way of thinking about what a phone can do" Sorry, that's just utter BS.
"The screen size is still the way you like it." Sorry, the phones are different sizes, and one is curvy on isn't. It's just convoluted.
"We've also redesigned the S7 with memory that expands" That's not a redesign, that's just bringing back a feature that made everybody complain when it wasn't there.
"4GB RAM, to keep all your tabs open" Nah, the 4GB RAM is just to make up for the crappy management of TouchWiz.
"The S7 redefines what you can do with a phone." You still haven't explained how.

They're just trying to present their phones like Apple do, and fail pathetically. Just don't try to be like Apple and make your own marketing strategy FCOL. Just explain in English how the phone is good, and don't bring comparisons with the iPhone into it.

Back to the phone though, I still like it. It's just not worth the near £300 extra for a bigger battery and waterproofing.

Always on display sounding kind of cool. If it works as well as it claims.

"... the big new software trick is the Always-On Display, which permanently shows a clock with notifications, a calendar, or an image on the S7’s screen. It is not a motion activated display, like Motorola’s Active Display or Google’s ambient display, but remains on all the time. Samsung says the features only consumes half a percent of battery per hour in its tests, and if the proximity sensor is covered, as when the phone is in a bag or pocket, the screen will shut off."

She/he doesn't have such a phone. She/he is just having a hissy fit.

I'm not having a hissy fit. I already explained why the phone doesn't work for me, which you and the OP don't seem to understand. But, please continue being a bunch of *******s.

Ugh, I just finished paying of my HTC One M8 on AT&T next and I told myself I would only buy at full price from now on to keep my monthly bill low, but this just came to me from Best Buy and is really temping me.

Damn you!!

Temptation is great for me too.

But I will resist until price breaks.

Ok thanks it was almost a given they'd follow Apple footsteps but they have not, bizarre.
I am glad.....It's not all that useful on my 6s+ tbh

I like that you can still use your phone while charging wireless with the new upright charging pad.

I like the new upright design. This is why having a fingerprint scanner or wake/sleep button on the back does not make sense to me.

No reason to buy this at launch, my friend.

Just wait a month. I'm sure they'll get a price cut

It means you can't use the external card as internal memory. It's basically for storage only. I'll bet you'll be able to move most apps to storage like how it's always been done.

I didn't know this about this and am very surprised. I wonder why Samsung ignored perhaps the single most useful feature of Marshmallow.

I have to say it's a seemingly awesome phone from Samsung.

Of the two devices I think I'd go for the Edge... As a 6s Plus user Apple could really do something in iOS 10 with swiping from the right and allowing for access to different features.

The design team need to stop testing on their laurels this year in Cupertino and do something that can compete with Samsung (and more).

They are just probably saving themselves the headache of complaints. Cause users that don't know any better won't realize they can't just swap the card into other devices. Then you'll have plenty that buy shady cards for dirt cheap that might corrupt, which might cause issues if treated as internal storage while still attached.

There are a lot of poor quality and fake micro SD cards out there that will cause instability and lag issues if used as unified storage. Not everyone will be smart enough to get a quality Samsung Pro+ SLC micro SD card.

Would love to see Canadian pricing and availability.

Also hope we get the exynos chip. Not a big deal either way though.
