Did anyone restore from Smart Switch? I wondering if I should try that, or should I just restore everything manually?

Can you please check on my biggest concern, I told some friends I'd get back to them as they are interested in purchasing but not if the issue I have is legit.
Try changing screen mode to basic and launching subway surfers game. It immediately goes back to adaptive (saturated funky colors) almost immediately on every demo I've tried. It is the quickest test to see if there is an issue.

It stays on whatever I put it on. Basic, AMOLED photo, and AMOLED cinema, all stick while playing Subway Surfers.
It was probably the Demo mode that was doing that.

Does anyone know how to turn off individual apps' background usage on Touchwiz? Never went through it on this iteration of TW. I try to search in settings, but get an overall "restrict background data" option and it doesn't let me choose individual apps.

Go to applications,
then application manager,
select any app on the list,
tap data usage,
then scroll all the way down.
You'll see the "Restrict background data" toggle for that specific app.

It gets warm. But I'm messing with it while it's restoring apps, on wifi, and fast charging the battery. So that's normal.

Yeah, it gets a bit warm. I was like where was the liquid cooling lol. It's chilled down now. But it's bound to heat up a little, but cooling ought to help protect the internals.
Whoops, sorry, missed your questions. No, the apps didn't restore unfortunately. I had to start Snapchat from fresh and same with What's App too.
Looking at my battery stats and one thing jumps out at me. Cell standby is way down on the list of apps. This is good news.
