I've watched all 60 episodes of Game of Thrones, most of them twice, and I only just noticed that, for each actor/actress in the opening credits, they put the house sigils of the character they are playing.
And also, am I the only one wondering how the **** Varys ended up on that boat when he was in Dorne like two seconds before?
I hope Arya and Bran make it to Winterfell and we get to see a Stark family reunion of sorts. I can just picture the dinner conversation:
Sansa: I was married twice and my second husband raped me. I had him eaten by his own dogs for that.
Arya: I can top that. I was blind for a while, recovered my sight, was stabbed, recovered, and dispatched my killer with Needle in the dark. Oh yeah, I slit Walder Frey's throat, too.
Jon: That's nothing. I fought White Walkers, was killed by my own men, brought to life by a red priestess, almost suffocated in battle, and re-took Winterfell.
Bran: Ha! You guys are pathetic. I've become the three-eyed raven and can pretty much time-travel anyplace I want. Pass the salt.
During the scene with Daney and Tyrion, I thought I detected a romantic moment between them as she was appointing him Hand of the Queen. This especially after she stated, with ease, that she had just bid farewell to the man who loves her, and whom she thought she loved. Did anyone else pick up on this?
Cersei is certainly the one character I love to hate, and hate to love. While I'm not a fan of her style, I really hated the Sparrows much more and was most happy seeing her eliminate them and the use of the kids to help her do it was a nice touch. I remember a scene earlier in the season with the guy who put The Mountain together (can't recall his name) where he had gathered a bunch of kids together for a purpose, which wasn't revealed until last night.
I am, however, disappointed to see Margaery was killed, I liked her character and always felt she was working on something behind the scenes to oust the Sparrows and Lannisters. I think her character has/had a lot of potential.
With Tommen dead now too, Cersei doesn't have anyone but Jamie and I bet if we thought she was merciless before, I can only imagine how much more ruthless she'll be while she sits on the Iron Throne again.
As much as I like the character Melisandre for some reason, maybe its just her good looks, Jon should have killed her rather than send her away to "never return again". This seems like a predictable Hollywood move that will come back to haunt Jon sometime later.
Lastly, the score to the episode was fantastic and I just loved the music they used during the trial scenes with the High Sparrow and Cersei.
Considering GoT never does "[X time] later", we just have to assume Dany was waiting on Varys to return and this is several weeks later at least. By the time Dany sets sail, Cersei has probably already been queen again for a couple of months.
Such a good episode. Looking forward to the next season. Hoping to see more of The Hound again. Wondering what Littlefinger thinks about all the houses pledging to Stark...

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought this. It became clear that she was playing the High Sparrow to some degree (maybe it was just to get Loras back after trial as mentioned in the episode?). I thought her plan was going to be something greater so it's unfortunate to see her go like that especially with the lack of screen time this season.
I think so, or at least the first time it was prominently featured. And how it seamlessly changed to the violin and organ. It was chilling and perfect.

Or maybe the whole underlying message of the series is a feminist one. Perhaps in the end Westeros will be ruled by Dany (7 Kingdoms), Yara (Iron Islands) and Sansa (Warden of the North). Feminists unite!
Yay! With this development, the rumors are, that the final book will be re-titled A Song of Hot and Cold Flashes...

Or she might play a role that would be helpful in one way or another once again (similar to bringing Jon back to life...assuming that all turns out to be a good thing in the end, as we all assume and hope to be the case).

I agree. There has to be a redemption arc for her character (bringing Jon back doesn't count). She was introduced to us as a character with a strong belief that everything and everyone has a purpose, while the premise of that is largely correct, she's been misinterpreting all the signs from what the real war is (Westeros/Iron Throne or Night King) and who the correct person is to lead that war (Stannis vs. Jon Snow) and that basically has her double-guessing herself. We all know what the real war is and who is to lead it so I can't see her coming back on the opposite end. Her purpose is to guide the correct people to an appropriate outcome. There's no other way (with only 2 short seasons left) for her to redeem her character and storyline if she doesn't come back and help Jon against the Night King.

I would change Arya's line to this - Arya:I can top that. I was blind for a while, recovered my sight, was stabbed, recovered, and dispatched my killer with Needle in the dark. Oh yeah, I make great Mince pies and I slit Walder Frey's throat, too.
HBO is spending about $100m annually to shoot what the show runners have compared to a ten-hour movie, since they film out of sequence. That may be hard to sustain. Jack Bender's comment that season 7 would comprise only seven episodes seems to confirm that there will be two shortened seasons beyond 2016, but HBO hasn't confirmed that.
I agree that it will be challenging to wrap up, but the longer they go, the harder it will be to keep the leads and key personnel, unless they kill everyone off. Seven or eight years is a long time to be associated with a TV series. While many of the actors have appeared other movies and shows, I'm sure that some would like to move beyond GoT full time.
As for what's coming up, here's my speculation based on what I've read lately:
We'll see what happens with Ramsay Bolton in episode 9, which is titled "Battle of the Bastards." That has to refer to Jon and Ramsey. ("Inglorious Bastards" would have been cute, but I suspect that Quentin Tarantino would have complained.)
At some point, Jaime will get tired of being pushed around by his sister/lover and his son and will go off in a different direction, maybe even at Riverrun when Brienne shows up in the next episode.
King's Landing will be destroyed, either in the final episode this year or some time next season. Bran's vision showed a wildfire conflagration. There's a lot of the stuff stored under the city and when Cersei is finally cornered, this will be her scorched earth gambit.
Aria will... heck, I have no idea which of the various theories (and there are many) will come to pass. I hope we'll find out on Sunday.
"It’s two more seasons we’re talking about. From pretty close to the beginning, we talked about doing this in 70-75 hours, and that’s what we’ll end up with. Call it 73 for now."
That final scene on the ships takes place weeks after the scene in Dorne. Looking at the sails, you can see sigils for the various families that have joined behind Dany at that point. So Varys traveled back to Meereen with the Martell ships before setting sail for Westeros.
In earlier seasons when we saw other Giants north of the wall did any of them use weapons? I was thinking we had seen a giant yielding some sort of large weapon at some point in the show?
