I wanted to see Tyrion. Other than that I was quite pleased with this first episode. I really loved Arya (as usual).

The ending was chilling with Denarius looking at the war table.

I'm with the group who believe the Targaryans will rise, and the end game will be Jon, Denarius, and Tyrion.

I thought this was a fantastic first episode of the season! Hahaha, Arya raining down the death and destruction :D

I also appreciate the little lighter moments, Tormund continuing to make goo-goo eyes at Brienne, Arya's little side with the soldiers (even with the semi-pointless Ed Sheeran cameo, though he's a big fan apparently).

We rewatched the last EP of S6 as kind of a setup, wow, Cersei is such a great, nasty character, Lena Headey always knocks it out of the park (some of her more restrained responses are a master class in less-is-more).

It was a bit odd that they didn't show what he was describing, though.

I was glad they didn't show anything - it leaves it open if he's really seeing visions [from the god of light], or subconsciously projecting, or just totally flipping out. :D
[doublepost=1500298865][/doublepost]BTW, I saw on the news this morning there were lots of complaints about outages with HBO, they specifically said HBONow, we were watching on HBOGo with *zero* issues, beautiful HD without a stutter. I'd assume the only difference in GO vs. NOW is the authentication/billing model, but maybe there are discrete infrastructures[?], or we just didn't have any issues (we actually started 10 minutes late).

I must be one of the few who doesnt know who Ed Sheehan is ... I'm an old school country listener. Not until I read on line reviews of the show this morning did I learn who he was. So, who will Arya be when they ask her, or does she just slaughter them all; she did observe where their weapons were. I'm not sure I like the path the writers are taking her. She's become desensitized to killing, even in her path of vengeance.

Cersei has completely lost her moral compass. Even Jaime realizes that now.

Enjoyable episode. I really liked the "Sam at the citadel" montage, and the appearance of the arm that could only be that of a certain twice-disgraced knight was very interesting. Characters are bumping into each other unexpectedly again. Could lead to a twist :)

I though the montage was funny, especially since you really couldn't tell the difference between bed pan contents and the dinner being served.

Thought it was a good first episode. Set the mood a bit, left unanswered questions to tease further watching. So far so good. Hope Aria doesn't turn too dark. I like her character.

The Sam storyline is very boring. The entire montage could be summed up by a raven sent to Jon saying "oh, Sam found the dragon glass". Done.

Decent episode. Really looking forward to the finale. I'm hoping to see Jon take to the air on a dragon. I suspect Jon may get booted as king of the north when Bran reveals that he isn't Ned Stark's bastard.
Isn't Jon Snow still technically a Stark though? Wasn't his mother Lyanna Stark?

Correct. But having the fathers blood is the important part, not the mothers. He has more of a claim to the iron throne than he does to the north.

I doubt Daenerys is going give up the Iron Throne, I doubt Bran wants to rule, and I doubt the North Kingdoms want Sansa.

I see a special kind of romance forming in the near future between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen as they unite to overcome all evil. I could be wrong, but it's a strong gut feeling.

It's often hard to get a sense of distance and time in GoT (the TV version, at least). But the map of Westeros shows that Dany is pretty close to King's Landing. Dragonstone is essentially at the entrance to Blackwater Bay, so it's hard to understand why Dany's and Euron's ships wouldn't have crossed paths by now, unless they were traveling at different times. And now Euron is going to head back out of Blackwater Bay to get a gift for Dany—if it's Tyrion that he's looking for, he won't have far to go.

Meanwhile, I wonder how Arya intends to get to Cersei. We now know that she can take on the appearance and voice of others, but does that only apply to dead people like Walder Frey? And if she does try that approach, whose identity will she adopt—it would have to be someone Cersei trusts and wants to see, like one of her dead children? But I'd find it hard to believe that the show runners would kill Cersei (or Arya, for that matter) this soon, or even this season.

Isn't this the last season? I think it is, and as such, I expect just about everyone to get killed. I'm looking forward to it, should be good.

One more very short season after this one.
That kind of sucks. I was really hoping this was the last season. I don't like it when a series goes too long and it loses it's mojo (I'm looking at you The Walking Dead).

So this is a full season of 10 episodes and then a shorter season next year?

A short season of eight episodes this year, with five next year. It's closer to one full regular season when you add them up. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

And I agree with you re TWD.

This is the last season, but they are splitting it over two years (this year and early next year). I have a feeling and from I have been reading, one of the big hold ups was George not finishing the books or finishing the outline for the writers to work with. Rumor of course, but I have a feeling that is a big part of it.

I wonder whether Euron might be coming a cropper on that front.

I can't remember if they make a big deal about it on the show, but in the books it's repeatedly stated that the Targaryens preferred to interbreed. Even if no romance, they might make a marriage of convenience.

It's 7 episodes this season (with an 80 minute finale) and 6 episodes next/final season (with rumored feature length episodes).

Many shows had split final seasons.. Off the top of my head: Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Sopranos...

That could be true, but I wouldn't imagine the showrunners really care if GRRM finishes the books at this point. They probably have enough of his input to outline the end of the series.

Also, Season 7 took 2-3 months longer than previous seasons to air, due to needing to film in winter months. Word is Season 8 may not air until late 2018 or even 2019, depending on the production schedule.

Waiting until 2019 is not an option for me.

I still have this gut feeling the Cersei is going to end up on top after all the dust is settled. Remember in GOT the good guy doesn't always win. :( I know this is only fiction, but there's a saying never underestimate your opponent.
