I won't be surprised if Samwell gets infected.

Good question, I thought Yara Greyjoy had run off with most of his ships, if I remember that correctly and where were those fireballs coming from?
...how to have a 5 min battle in 10 episodes. :p

We caught the first two episodes during the HBO free weekend preview this past Fri-Sun. Seems like a great start to the season with a pretty quick pace. I'm not sure what they are going to do with Theon's character now. My guess would be the only way to redeem his character in any way would be with some grand self sacrificing gesture that makes a difference in the plot, but costs him his life.

Cersei will have to make a decision about Euron. He is her match in all ways but he's a manic where she plots her destructive moves. Euron makes Joeffrey and Ramsey antics look like child play. He is one scary dude .

Poor Jamie, he's caught between a rock and hard place. If Cersei doesn't kill him, Euron will ... eventually.

Varys, I still don't think he is loyal to Daenerys, she might find herself relying more on Olenna in the future.

Are we not going to speak of Greyworm and Missandei???
Their love was not a rushed thing and has grown over time. The script was well written and for once it wasn't about just the act of sex.

Interesting twist. That ought to take the wind out of Dany's sails if you'll pardon the pun. IMO it's much more likely that she'll want an alliance with the North now rather than for them to swear to her. She's trapped on Dragonstone, with only the Tyrrells backing her claim. Not a strong position.

The dynamics of the coming battles are getting interesting. In the south, Cersei and her allies are getting ready for a battle for the Seven Kingdoms against Dany and her allies. In the North, Jon and his allies are looking toward the ultimate war with the Night King, the White Walkers, and the wights. He realizes that they present an existential threat to all of Westeros, regardless of who sits on the Iron Throne. But do Cersei and Dany know or care? And if they did, what would the do differently?

In some respects, it's like the Westerosi version of Independence Day, where the world united against a common enemy. Or are Cersei and Dany too focused on their own conquests? There are theories that the dragons, not just dragonglass, will be the key to defeating the barbarians at the wall. So, if the dragons are killed by Qyburn's crossbow-like weapon, will that seal everyone's fate?

I'm looking forward to seeing how the meet up with John and Daenerys goes, if they become allies it will be great :) Jorah will probably come back and may even be a big part in helping Daenerys! whether she will be on the Iron throne in the end i don't know. Who i want on the iron throne is Daenerys, who WILL be on the iron throne is a different story.

I don't know if Sam's treatment - remove the scale and apply an ointment - will work on its own. But in last week's episode, when Sam was looking at the page that showed that there's dragonglass at Dragonstone, the opposite page contained a few clues suggesting that it might be curative for something, possibly greyscale, if ingested.

By the way, there is a report on the disease in JAMA Dermatology if you're interested.

If it lands and walks up to it, maybe. I'd imagine that it would fly over and toast it. ;)
Did you happen to notice that it didn't take much pull power for Cersei to use it? And it certainly didn't seem to be able to rotate like a battle cannon on a warship.

Unless one of the dragons just happens to run out of breathing fire and simply stays stationary in a spot 50 paces away from the crossbow and the guy or girl pulling the level doesn't completely mess their pants, then they might have a chance of hitting them one.

But this is Game of Thrones we're talking about. Anything is possible.

This is what I think is going to happen. It would be difficult to hit one dragon flying hundreds of feet in the air, but I feel they're just going to allow it to happen and we see one dead dragon. Again, if this happens, I'm going to feel so cheesed and disappointed.

I think the dragons need to be lower to use their fire effectively, especially if they're aiming at a particular ship or small group of people. I agree at least one will die this season.

I thought Ramsay Bolton arrow shot that killed Rickon was a bit improbable, but it served the plotline.

I think the best scene last night was when Jamie Lannister walked into the room where Olenna Tyrell was sitting behind a table. Even though Jamie was the victor I feel Olenna made Jamie's victory seem hollow and pointless.

I am losing respect for Daenerys Targaryen. I think Daenerys was crazy in thinking that Jon Snow was going to take a knee. I also think she has to be more ruthless and be more clever when picking her battles. Daenerys doesn't have to go Cersei on us, but she needs to be more ruthless if she wants to become a great ruler (Queen) Daenerys also has to stop listening and following the advice her hand (Tyrion Lannister) a 100 percent, for he's not as clever as he thinks he is. I personally would listen to Varys more, for in my opinion he's more cunning though not as trustworthy. Just my take on last night's show.

Daeneris and Jon will have to work together. Cersei's forces have outplanned them so far. While I was not surprised over her treatment of the Sand Snakes, I was very surprised when Jaime's army showed up at High Garden.

Jaime's scenes were fierce. The first with Euronn, where he was being baked, and the second with Lady Tyrell, where he discovered (too late for revenge) that she had killed his son. All his buttons were being pushed. I also loved the scene between Jon and Tyrion. Their scenes have always been well-written.

Bran's return will answer questions for a lot of people, especially Jon and Daeneris. It will cement their alliance. Did anyone else notice how frightened of him Sansa was?

I thought the same about both comments. Tyrion has underestimated Jamie and his plan showed Jaimie had the upper hand with this castle takeover. Can Tyrion keep his "hand" of the queen after these major errors he's made?

Dany misses the point of "earning the crown" vs. she inherited by birth. Jon gets it. Seems the storyline for the future will be built on "earning" it with respect between these two.

The scene between Jamie and Olenna were great. Jamie knows Olenna is right but his love for Cersei is blind to it. Will miss Olenna if she really died. Diana Riggs is one great actor who never got the credit she so deserves. I really wanted to see her character be there when Cersei got her "dues" in paybacks. Cersei is ... well just plain evil in all ways possible.

Littlefinger should change his name to little weasel. I think he knows more about the three eyed raven, Bran, than he's letting on.

What I can't figure out is with the rush of these battles, timelines and main characters being disposed of swiftly just what can the final season hold next year? I'm guessing the true winter battles with the white walkers won't happen til then. Can someone give a bit of insight as to where in the books the show is?

What an episode! I thought the Jon and Khaleesi meeting will be towards the end and surprise! It felt so tense, it was amazing to finally see them together. Bran and Sansa reunion was totally unexpected and gave me the feels. Uncle Euron is now my favourite bad guy (sorry Ramsay) "does she like it rough?". The Cersei and Ellaria scene game the goosebumps, bitch is MAD!

Too bad we didn't get to see Tyene "Perfect Boobs" Sand nude one last time though :c

He still could have sliced her in two even though she just drank the poison. It would have been better if he brutally ended her.

I'm tired of little finger. I'd like to see him dispatched, and quickly. Either eaten by a dragon, killed by a white walker, or ripped apart by a dire wolf. The most befitting death would be dying of a anal prolapse after taking a huge dump.

The end of this season and beginning of next season will be stopping the white walkers as they march south.

I agree, while I'm enjoying this season, it feels very rushed. I hate that the battles are being shown in a matter of minutes, and they skipped the battle at High Garden entirely. We're now at the endgame, character development is pretty much finished, and I just want to see things played out in full. They should've made it a regular 10-episode season and given each scene adequate time.

As for the books, the most recent one (A Dance with Dragons) was released in 2011 - around the time Season 1 aired - and ended with Jon Snow's death from Season 5. So we're way past that point now.

I'm afraid we're in for a rapid pace for all the remaining ten episodes as the showrunners/writers move multiple story lines along to conclusion. For example, you can expect characters to get from point A to point B a lot more rapidly than would seem possible in Westeros. It's a stark (pardon the pun) contrast to the first episode when you got the feeling that the journey from King's Landing to Winterfell took months.

As for last night's episode, my favorite moments:
  • Cersei's revenge on Elaria—it would have been much easier to have ordered The Mountain to give her the Septa Unella treatment, but this is even more cruel.
  • Davos' statement after Missandei finishes reeling off Dany's list of titles (Mother of Dragons and all that). "This in Jon Snow...he's King in the North."
  • Olenna and Jaime: What a great way for her to go out!
  • Ser Jorah to Archmaester Ebrose: "I assumed it was the rest that did it. And the climate."
It was weird to see Bran return to Winterfell. He's gone from being the Stark child with the most wonderment to solemn and a bit creepy. It's not surprising that he put Sansa off by revealing what he knows about her. I wonder if he's aware that Arya is on her way north.

I think this is what's going to push Sansa to the direction where we start to really hate her as hinted by Sophie Turner. All of the Stark children, including Jon, all have their own path they they're following and I think Sansa seeing Arya become this different person is going to force a self-reflection where she thinks she can/should rule the North/Winterfell while Jon is away farming Dragonstone.
