I watched episode 3 again last night. Davos told Dany that Jon had taken a knife to the heart for his people and would have added that he had died if Jon hadn't stopped him. Why doesn't Jon want Dany to know that? It's not a secret, at least among the Night's Watch.

I think Jon is worried that it would make him seem more like a threat to Dany, who doesn't trust him. But she definitely noticed, because she asked Tyrion about the knife in the heart comment later. At some point, Dany is going to find out, and it may play into the narrative that together, she and Jon are the prince that was promised to save the world, especially when she also sees the threat from beyond the wall for the first time.

Having been killed and resurrected puts him in an awkward position I would think, especially since he is asking for help in fighting an army of the dead

This. It would probably put him a very awkward situation. Come fight with me, our enemy are the walking dead, and oh by the way, I was resurrected from the dead! Would have been kinda funny though.

Jon will have some explaining to do about those nasty stab wounds if he and Dany actually have a physical relationship.

The one thing that is killing me is the lack of understanding regarding how important Dragon Riding is. If she doesn't believe Jon about the White Walkers then just jump on your dragon and fly north to check it out for yourself. I'm a long time fan of the Dragonlance series by Weis and Hickman and in their writings people understood the importance of having a dragon for recon missions, communication, intelligence gathering, etc.. Their value goes way beyond just fighting battles. Get with it people!

I agree, while I'm enjoying this season, it feels very rushed. I hate that the battles are being shown in a matter of minutes, and they skipped the battle at High Garden entirely. We're now at the endgame, character development is pretty much finished, and I just want to see things played out in full. They should've made it a regular 10-episode season and given each scene adequate time.

As for the books, the most recent one (A Dance with Dragons) was released in 2011 - around the time Season 1 aired - and ended with Jon Snow's death from Season 5. So we're way past that point now.

This has been my critique of the series since Season 2. Game Of Thrones Cliff notes, with significant story consolidation, and a few highlight scenes they bothered to film, sprinkled in. It's great if you want it wrapped up, but a tragedy if you cherished the prime George RR Martin prose and narrative. If you are vested in the books, how can you possibly be satisfied with this shell of a story?

What should be grand battles on land and at sea are tidbits, people! The Unsullied taking Casterly Rock was a couple of minutes, Euron defeating Deanery's fleet was a matter of a 5 second shot! Look, I'm a realistic, this is TV with a very expensive budget, and 10 measley episodes per season. Despite much of the personal interactions being riveting, and I feel like I'm watching an all star cast, this is a mere, expedited shadow outline to get'r done.

Edit: Oh and I forgot High Garden, a shot of Lanister troops matching up to the gate... they there was a battle, all you need to know is who won.

Valid criticisms, but telling the story more completely and slowly would require more episodes per season, longer episodes, or additional seasons beyond eight. With limitations on funding from HBO, time for pre- and post-production with lots of visual effects, complex shooting schedules in multiple countries, and the actors' career needs, I don't think that any of these things would be possible.

Given a choice between GoT as it is and nothing, I'll happily take what we're getting. Despite the flaws, I eagerly look forward to watching on Sunday nights, and I'll miss the show when it ends in 2018 or 2019. I might feel differently if I were a book reader, which I'm not. But if I had read the books I'd be frustrated by George R.R. Martin's lack of progress.

I acknowledged the expense aspect in my post. :) It really hit me this last episode. I feel like I'm watching excerpts from something really special, and missing out on some cool battles.

Worst moment is when the red witch burned "lizard girl" in front of her own parents. Have not seen S7E03 yet but waiting for her to be killed off in a brutal way.....

Wow! Amazing episode. I'm getting used to the instant transportation around Westeros too... it is the necessary pace for the season I think.

Random... does anyone remember if Little Finger is on Aria's list?
