I wasn’t really expecting any fighting today after last weeks epic battle.

Can’t believe another dragon is gone. With those turret mounted giant crossbows I’m not sure how they plan to take the city.
Doesn’t seem like enough of an army is left to take Kings landing.

Just send in Arya to take out Cersi and take the throne for herself!

^this.

It's honestly like the writers couldn't work out good conclusions so they're just pushing people in directions that create some short-term conflict. Good epic fantasy uses these long character arcs to place everyone in just the right place for a shocking but inevitable conclusion. This doesn't feel like that convergence at all... it feels like desperate writers shifting people around to try and get in a few more surprises, and maybe to justify the not-so-brilliant landing they've picked out.
Agreed.

And I don't buy the "they ran out of Martin material" take, either. Season 6 was great and didn't have a book.
Nope, S6 has a lot taken from ADWD, and a bit from AFFC while it does overtake the books, likely only using what Martin had already had fairly nailed down for TWoW. S7 and S8 are where the books' influence is totally missing, and I think it tells (no more linking scenes of travelling which Martin cleverly uses to either world build or flesh out his characters/ have new combos interact). The teleporting didn't bother me so much, the events were largely enough to carry it, but it is noticeable that you lose the finer bits and pieces Martin is good at (mainly that extra mile on characterisation). It's difficult to correlate the show to the books from this point as a lot gets changed. I really could see TWoW unfolding significantly differently, there's too much going on in the book that's not in the show for it to follow a similar chain of events.

Is Euron thick? Cersei told him she was pregnant with his child. Then Tyrion shows up and mentions the baby. The last time Tyrion was with Cersei they hadn’t even slept together.
I expect that's set up for the scene in next week's episode where they're alone and he runs Cersei through for double crossing him :p

I’ve always felt like Dany was a bit of a villain. We’re shown her good side (compassion for her allies, sympathy for slaves, and love for her dragons), so it feels like she’s the heroine of the story, but she’s also had an evil streak in her since the very beginning. She's unashamedly killed anyone who stood in her way on her journey through Essos and to Westeros… She had her reasons, but her rule of thumb has basically been “join me or die.. bend the knee or die.. get in my way and die.” She's butting heads with Sansa because, if it wasn't for her love for Jon, she knows she probably could've taken Winterfell by force.

In that final scene, I think if the positions were flipped and Dany was standing atop the castle wall with Cersei on the ground with an army of 50, I can honestly imagine Dany would 'dracarys' them all. This is partly why I'm surprised Cersei didn't.
Yes and no, I feel like the potential was always there, my beef is we haven't seen anything which you could say explicitly drives her further in that ruthless direction. Like when taking the cities of slaver's bay, she's really concerned about the welfare of the ordinary citizens during the battle, Kings Landing? Not so much. When did this change happen? As a result of the events around Meereen? Perhaps, but again, the connection isn't made it's kinda just left for the viewer to make assumptions.

This is easily the weakest season of Game of Thrones - - the producers are just phoning ravening it in this year.

Some of the military decisions in the past two episodes have stretched credulity. In The Long Night, why did the generals of Winterfell send the Dothraki out to face certain death at the hands of the wights without first torching the advancing army with dragon fire? And, in episode 4, you'd think Dany and crew could have learned about Euron's ships from a few spy ravens courtesy of Bran. It's OK to introduce a few plot holes to enhance the drama, but at some point it makes me think less of the characters I'm rooting for.

I'm not surprised by Dany's transition to beast mode, though. Since season 1, she's been singularly focused on the Iron Throne, no matter what it takes. It was only Tyrion's counsel that prevented her from killing thousands in the battle for Meereen. Although Dany has claimed that she wants to leave the world a better place, she mostly wants to break the wheel. But GoT seems big on letting bad people, like Theon, redeem themselves at the end, so maybe this will happen with Dany as she sacrifices herself somehow.

As for the Starbucks coffee cup, I re-watched the segment last night. I was surprised how easy it was to see once I knew it was there. The cup wasn't on-screen for long, but it wasn't in the shadows, either. TBH, I'm surprised things like this haven't been noticed more often in GoT. IMDb is full of miscues in cinema and television, even in ultra high-budget productions.

Correct me if i am wrong, but now that Gendry has been legitimised, would he be next in line for the throne if Daenarys and Jon were to die?

I mean, it's not set in stone, but when one family takes the throne from another, they become the royal family. If Daenerys were to become Queen, the order would be a little weird, but Jon and their children would theoretically be next in line of succession. Gendry would have no real claim to the throne as the Baratheons are not the royal family.

In the books he was 14 at the beginning. The show has aged up all the Stark kids and even many of the adults. I imagine Jon was supposed to be 18ish in season 1.
Yeah when you realise Daenerys is actually 13 in book 1 you can kinda see why they aged them all up a smidgen

WARNING: There are a lot of spoilers, so before you click, you better think about if you really want to know, before watching the last two episodes..Anyway, I am posting the link for anyone that does want to know and cannot wait for the last two episodes.
If you are interested to know what (probably) happens next and how the series will end, you can click here: https://www.reddit.com/r/freefolk/comments/bkc8xd/compilation_of_spoilers_for_got_episodes_46/

If these leaked spoilers are true, then the end will be pretty disappointing (for me at least)

(I'm putting this in a spoiler tag incase anyone does want to go in to the final couple of episodes completely blind, maybe you ought to spoiler tag your post up too? I know it doesn't actually give any spoilers, but thinking it's disappointing is a kind of spoiler in itself) I did see an article not with the spoilers earlier, but with people's reaction to them and immediately got pretty disappointed that it's not going to end well... as there were spoilers included for Eps 4,5 and 6 and the ones for 4 are correct, looks like this is what we're getting. So I'm now debating whether to just go ahead and read them if it's just going to be terrible - difficult to spoil something that's disappointing anyway :/

Well I didn't want to expand that spoiler section... but can you clarify... What does it contain? Actual information from a leaked episode or something? Or does it just contain speculation? Or just a dick pic? A little more detail would be appreciated so people can judge if they dare click, heh.

It contains a link to a reddit thread where all the spoilers are detailed. When you visit the site the spoilers are hidden again and you have to click to unhide them.
[doublepost=1557293238][/doublepost]The thread on reddit describes exactly what happens and how Game of Thrones ends.

Is the reddit thread from leaked episodes? If not, just more speculation. If it is, I will avoid it at all cost.

I hope it's not accurate, but it looks like it is. The same leaker published the leaks for episode 4 and everything written was confirmed, so I guess everything he wrote seems to be accurate.

There wasn’t any context to the leaks.

I did not picture giant mounted arrows calibrated with eyeballs being that accurate. Down to 1 dragon really seems to turn the momentum against Danny. I could say this is not how I expected it to go, but I have already learned this author, at least the frame work of this story is to expect the unexpected. What really bugs me though is after all this build up to OH DRAGONS!!! how they have been vanquished with a whimper. :(
