Are you under the impression that I'm mad? Way off. How did you even come up with the idea that I was mad?

I thought we WERE having a discussion. You said something I disagree with, so I took the time to share why I disagree with it. I didn't call you a name or attack you (other than to joke about your screen name, which was a joke, if you didn't pick that up). Everything I typed was to support my opinion... that trying to equate a Samsung smartphone as a "cheap Korean knockoff" is illogical.
Ok. I still think it's a cheap knockoff.

It's a good thing people are able to vote with their wallets, isn't it?

Got used to onscreen home button years and can adapt to having the fingerprint scanner on the front or back. Nexus One and Windows Phone didn't have a home button.

Only Samsung kept the physical button the longest. Every brand from LG, HTC, Sony, Motorola, and everyone else moved away from it.

The iPhone X is emulating webOS which I love. Swiping up on that line feels way better than some archaic physical home button that will wear and tear over time. It's why Apple added Assistive Touch in iOS6.

I don't like that Samsung never copied Nokia with double tap to wake. Everyone starting with LG in 2013 made it an option. Oppo does it too. If you want to wake up the screen without pressing the power button, use this app called Wave Up. It's better than Wakeup Touch Nexus.

Wave your hand in the proximity sensor and it wakes up.

You gotta love it when the "cheap knockoff" costs more than the thing its knocking off, doesn't look or feel anything like it, and has a lot of original and unique functions... and the future version of the thing being knocked off is becoming more like the knockoff. But whatever... I love my Note 8 and you love your iPhone, so everyone's happy.

Yeah it is insulting how they try to compare an iPhone to a cheap Korean knockoff. Truly disgusting.

What's that? That's only, like, my opinion, man?

You might wanna get used to the fact that people have opinions and that many people out there will always disagree with your opinion. Thinking that you're right and the rest of the world is wrong is a childish mindset that most of us grow out of.

Well I don't know, it seems Apple themselves and anyone getting the X would agree. The people getting the X are getting it because it's the "best" iPhone with the "best" hardware and because of that, Apple is demanding the "most" money. If the X was on par with the 8, they would be priced the same. So if Apple and it's flock agree the X is THE TRUE FLAGSHIP from Apple that demands the most money, I'm guessing anyone would be offended if they were asked to pay the same price for their 8 as the X. So I wonder what characteristics the X has that make it more exclusive and more premium over the 8? And what other phone in this discussion has those characteristics and then some? Hmmmmm.....
BTW, not my opinion, these are facts. Nonetheless, you were triggered, and didn't think where I was coming from with my statement.

Looking through your post history, I knew exactly where you were coming from rofl

I personally think the X isn't that great. In my opinion the 8/Plus are the best phones of the year by far. Not interested in the lagfest knockoffs, and not interested in dumb non-rectangular screens.

Hell no. It's like 1300 in Canada. I'd never pay that much for a phone no matter how good it is. Pricing the phone that much is a blend of Apple being cocky and vastly overestimating how highly people think of the X (spoiler: not very)

iOS fans have been drip fed the same design over 4 years. Any incremental change in design is going to attract the horde like a tramp to a sandwich.

The X in all honesty is the same as the 8 albeit smaller and uses and different unlock method. But because they have been purchasing the 6, 6S, 7 and now 8 they crave for a design change and are willing to cough up the $$$’s for it.

The X’s display in comparison with the 8 plus isn’t going to be a whole lot different, top end LCD of the 8 Plus vs Samsung old tech Amoled in the X.

Smartphones have peaked, it’s all down to do you prefer iOS or Android, with the latter you get choice in handsets, with Apple you have to have the 8 or 8 Plus same design or join the masses in trying to secure an X, Apple knows what you want and is ramming the price up accordingly as they know the demand is going to be huge. Then we all do it all over again next year and pay even more $$$’s for the yearly spec upgrade.

Well the diehard Apple fans have put themselves at Apple's will. The undying loyalty has created the monster that is Apple today. They complain about old designs, yet keep buying at outrageous prices for the recycled designs and inferior hardware. Then rationalize the continued purchases as being stuck in an ecosystem and having put in so much time and money in this ecosystem. Reminds me of people that stay in a relationship where they've been cheated on and stay in it because they put in so many years building that relationship. Only to find out they got cheated on again, and continue to stay with that person but never satisfied.

That was my point as I bought the S8 for changing from the iPhone 6/8: It felt like a relationship which I just wanted to keep alive and where I don't "love" my partner anymore. I bought the S8 4 or 5 times (!!) because one day I wanted to keep the S8 and another the iPhone. But this was good then at the end of the day I paid just 500€ with the WiFi charger and the Memory Card... and not 580€ without these ;). I really cannot think that I would stuck with the similar iOS for the next years because I don't think that iOS will change so much over the time. Just as OSX: It is similar to the same version that I used 10 years ago. Now I'm on Windows 10 and I find this very, very good and for my productivity just better. What I miss about Apple is just the ecosystem (sync everywhere) but I managed this with some apps.

Now, I discovered a new world, an "open" world where I can do what I want without to hope at every OS updated that new features are included or that the OS is lagfree or smooth. Yes, my S8 is lagfree, exact the contrary of the iPhone 6/8 with iOS 11. Oh god, what a mess was this iOS 11 !! And the iOS 10x where the DAC didn't work correctly?! Apple, what's wrong with you?!

Good grief, now you’re going anthropomorphic on a phone?

Btw who are these undying loyal fans that complain about old designs? Or perhaps a couple of people have opinions on apples designs as people have opinions on retail products?

We're not switching because Android is still technically a joke of an OS running on a programming language that is the laughing stock in the industry in terms of performance. Nobody wants to deal with the lagfest. There's a reason why Android needs 6GB to compete with 2GB on an iPhone. I'd rather keep a phone with a supposedly "outdated" design.

No lag here. And, I've not seen any industry folks laughing about Android. Both iOS and Android are good... Both have pros and cons. It's great we have choices and competition. I would hate to be in a situation where we had only one choice. We'd be better off if there were three iable alternatives instead of two, in my opinion.

Have to say, I am so happy with my Note8. None of these weird issues like crappy displays with a weird hue, or heavy colour shifts or even burn-in.

It's just chugging along daily without a fault.

Exactly. The ecosystem argument is starting to remind me of the days when I used to tell people I used a Mac and they would respond with "Oh but they do'nt have any software" or "they are not compatible with a PC". So many refused to even try to learn a new OS. Stuck in their ways. Nowadays it's the Apple crowd that has gotten so used to iOS, and MacOS, that they refuse to look outside the bubble. Too bad.

I'm very fortunate that I worked for a cellphone shop. It opened up my interest in mobile OS. I think the only one I just never really liked much was Windows Mobile. My Lumia 640 just wasn't very fun or intuitive. BlackBerry 10 was incredible on multitasking. I liked the card view on WebOS. Symbian was weird but we didn't sell it so I wasn't required to know much. Android was my first love and the variety of ROMs, wow. Cyanogenmod, Jedi, those were the days, ahh unlocked bootloaders.

Then I tried Apple for the first time with the 5c. It's still my favorite iPhone in terms of size, weight, color and screen. I was mostly happy with Apple until Intel modems, then I wasn't.

So I'm glad to be able to just pick up an android and go on with it.

But the thing that I couldn't get past is the lack of a home button. I never realized how much I use my phone sitting on my desk or table, and the hover my face over or pickup to use thumb reader on back started getting old fast.

I switched to the Note 8 after owning every iPhone iteration up to the ip7plus. For me, the Note 8 has been amazing. I would encourage you to watch a couple of hours of tutorials on YouTube. I can't get over how much more I like the Note 8. The gestures, menus, etc. are so much more intuitive and accessible.

I can only speak for me but there is still quite a ways to go before android steps up. I use my phone like the average consumer likely does and these are where the rankings come in for me regarding different areas:

Phone calls - Tie between Android and IOS
Getting to visual voicemail - IOS wins
Email - Tie
Message app - IOS wins
Facetime - IOS wins
Internet experience - IOS wins
Camera - Tie for me, but many would say other than Pixel XL IOS wins
Music App - IOS wins
Handling of boarding passes for travel - IOS wins
Social Media - Tie for me
Lagginess- IOS wins
Battery life - IOS wins
Screen - Android wins (Specifically Galaxy S7)
Searching ease of use - IOS wins
Syncing with mac system - IOS wins

You can see for me IOS wins or ties every single category except Screen

SO I will agree that IOS fans are drip fed but that dripping still exceeds what Android offers.
