regardless of the arguments and fights.

does dialing 112 actually convert to 911 in the US?

if it does that would be really irresponsible and can actually get you in trouble. and all this for an unlock would be really really pathetic. mind you i have nothing against the gevey sim and it might be doing its purpose for many. but making fake calls to emergency services is just a bit much.

Calling 911, hanging up will make 911 call you back to check. Yes this has happened to me before.

If you have no valid reason other than "I miss dialed" after the 10th to call 911 they will notice and you will get a Summons for the misuse of 911.

The calling of 112 point is to connect the Cell Phones Network. In that case, You don't wait till they answer to you. Or till the call's actually sent. All you gotta do is call 112 for 2 Seconds! It takes about 8 Seconds till it actually start calling them. So you guys have nothing to worry about. If you're idiots and you wait longer than 2 seconds then 911 might will get the call.

Dude, a call towards 911 connects very quickly.... in less than 2 seconds it will connect. In fact a call to 911 will trigger in many phones emergency mode which will make you connect to 911 even through another carriers signal, assuming they are compatible.

I'm using the Gevey Sim now for a week. Although I didn't have to re-do the initial process after it was set up the first time, but since I wanted to know exactly how to do it, I repeated the process up to 5 times.

I can not speculate what is happening in terms of how quickly the call is redirected. I can say that I have not received any call backs from emergency services or a ban of my sim card from T-Mobile as of yet. Granted, it's only been a week.

If any serious repercussions happen as a result of using this card, I will be sure to post them. The discussion regarding any potential negative consequences is appropriate. It's something people have to weigh.

I would think though a more thorough discussion could happen if people would post actual authority in terms of laws or statutes instead of speculating on what we think will happen.

Okay well then for you it takes 2 seconds just because you already have a SIM Card with a carrier which is already connected.
And for me it took about 8 Seconds so here it's just fine. Also i'm sure these chinese people aren't stupid enough to make such a thing.

Just started using it. It works awesome. Two things to note:

1. What's the big deal about cutting a notch in the sim? you already cut your sim to a micro size anway.

2. When I go to an area with no service, I DO NOT have to do all the steps again. My phone automatically searches for signal and reconnects by itself.

Now, Does anyone know how to activate FaceTime without me having to jailbreak it???

Thanks applejuiced. I guess I'll have to wait for the untethered jb. Finally using my paper weight is awesome!!

I agree.
It must be nice to finally be able to use it.
I'd also hold off till an untethered JB is out.

Me too! The iOS 4.3.1 seems to have very nice fixes and improvements.
Do you guys know if the Hotspot on iOS 4.3 works with 3G too? Like can I make an hotspot of 3G??

When it comes down to money they will paint you a pretty picture so that you'll gobble it up and buy it.

Just because "they say so" doesn't mean it is so. I would not risk a 911 infraction; specially now a days that many states are in need of cash.

Hi all,

I just received the Gevey Sim interposer and tried to use it. Here is what happened.

The following message popped up over the initial instruction message from Gevey:

Waiting for activation
"This may take some time"

I dismissed that message then clicked accept on the gevey message. I then called 112 and hung up (following the instructions) and got a "No Sim card installed" message.
I again dismissed the message. Then I went to settings > airplane mode > switched it on and then off. Then I got the "You have just failed! Power off phone and repeat..." message.

I've retried 8+ times with no success. Sometimes I don't get the initial message about waiting for activation.

What could be going on? I bought the phone used so it was activated and when I got it I jailbroke the phone with greenpoison.

Any help will greatly be appreciated!

Who did you purchase your Gevey sim from? I messed up a few times initially and I never received a message like that, it would just stay on 1 signal bar when I didn't do it correctly.

still in school - I bought it off ebay but I'm sure its original. Anyways I checked around and it said to try switching 3G to off and turn Data Roaming on. That did the trick!

Ok guys, here are the steps with the Gevey sim to get your phone unlock.

1. Turn off your phone
2. Place your sim on top of the Gevey in the sim tray and insert it into your phone.
3. Turn on your phone
4. Dismiss the Wait for activation and accept the Gevey pop up messages.
5. Wait 15 seconds
6. Dial 112 and press send wait 2 seconds press end.(it doesn't even have to connect)
7. Go to Settings and turn on airplane mode.
8. Wait till it says "no sim card install" then turn off airplane mode.
9. You're done and phone unlocked.
