You should consider this to be a good way to unlock your phone. The software unlock is not gonna arrive the next few weeks, that is for sure.

You can buy a Gevey SIM for $30 + shipping costs and have an unlocked iPhone within a week.

Now the price is up to $36/unit. I got the shipment but no time to try it out yet on iOS 4.3, apparently Sunsky is selling i-SmartSim and there is a Youtube video showing to unlock iOS 4.1.

There's a wire outside for the sunsky interposer? Man! I should have ordered an original Gevey then! That sucks..

Ok guys, here are the steps with the Gevey sim to get your phone unlock.

1. Turn off your phone
2. Place your sim on top of the Gevey in the sim tray and insert it into your phone.
3. Turn on your phone
4. Dismiss the Wait for activation and accept the Gevey pop up messages.
5. Wait 15 seconds
6. Dial 112 and press send wait 2 seconds press end.(it doesn't even have to connect)
7. Go to Settings and turn on airplane mode.
8. Wait till it says "no sim card install" then turn off airplane mode.
9. You're done and phone unlocked.

Hi,

I got to step 8 and never got "no sim card install" message..now what? :)

Yea ,make sure the sim card is seated right and touching the Gevey sim. Just do those steps again, you'll get it eventually.

Also I see a lot of people saying to turn on 3G. I had mine turn off but worked perfectly.

Also about the i-SmartSim from Sunsky. From what I've heard, they're using the chips from the old versions of the gevey sim. It's a lot thicker that's why it doesn't fit in the sim card slot. The chips also have a higher voltage, so the battery's going to run out alot faster and they might burn out the motherboard over time.

just ordered mine...was debating if I should just go w/ ATT prepaid plan when my T-mobile contract is expired in about a month but I think it will cost more w/ prepaid. So, I just use the this until the iPhone 5 is out and sign a new contract w/ ATT.

If you use talkatone, you can get a data only plan iPad plan from at&t and use your google number to make and receive phone calls. Probably the absolutely cheapest way to go. $25-$30 a month.

Thanks. The problem is I don't need the data plan. I have access to wi-fi 95% of the time. I only need the voice plan and, right now, I only pay $50 - 15% discount from work = $42.50 + tax for 2 lines.

Also, talkatone is o.k for short conversation. It keeps dropping calls after about 10 minutes.

Anyone actually received their order from sunsky ? i Cant find a damn info about what they are actually shipping. If you ordered this item from them and received it.. POST A PICTURE.

I think the pictures you post are of the Gevey sim. Look at the youtube video above, the i-SmartSim doesn't come with a sim tray plus it have that long piece hanging to the back.

The item you are talking about is the i-smartsim DUAL sim unlock ( thats why there is 2 slots to put sims... obviously(micro sim inside and reg ouside)) : http://www.sunsky-online.com/view/2...d+++Plastic+Case+with+holder+for+iPhone+4.htm

Which is a totally different item from :

http://www.sunsky-online.com/view/207717.htm

S-IP4G-0690_4.jpg

Also, if you look into questions ( lower page) Sunsky's rep says around 50 times that their item comes with a tray holder and is the same thing as gevey.

I'm still looking for someone who ordered the unlock sim card for i4 from sunky to post pictures of what they received. Thanks

Oh didn't know, I didn't go to their site just took a quick look at the youtube video. I think it's going to be another few days before people will receive their sim from sunsky. It was just released last week and Sunsky said they will start to ship them in 2-5 days. So , I think the earliest is the end of this week.

I received my order from Sunsky yesterday, and it is exactly the same as the posted picture. Tomorrow, I'll try my buddy iOS 4.3 to find out if this item works.

Here're the items from Sunsky that I received yesterday.

Hey guys i just acount to Tell you that i did buy a Gevey sim unlock from ww.sunsky-online.com

Let me start with telling you it works! And the shipping only took 3 Days from china to Sweden. So What you Will get is a copy of "Gavey" it looks the same and it works the same but its not orginal with other words who gives a f :)

You follow the steps that they Do on the youtube videos and its unlocked

And for all of you "crying" about calling 112 the process is so fast it dosent even call you wont hear A tone so it dosent even call them up, you hit cal then end cal 2sec after.. And for those that thinks that you have to Do all the steps over again When you lose the signal.. You DONT! Only if you turn off Your phone or reboot it you have to Do the steps all over (takes you less then 30sec)

I am runing on a 4.1 02.10.04

If you have any questions just ask!

It seems like, from this thread at least, that most if not all People have had good experiences with the Gevey. At least in terms of functionality.

I would like to hear if anyone has had a bad experience with it. A lot of people seem to think it's a questionable product to say the least.

There is the legitimate concern regarding it's "legality". So far, other than people's general opinion that "hanging up on 112" is legal, I have not seen any citation of proof that it is actually hanging up on them or the laws surrounding dialing 112. But it is a legitimate concern. So is the concern about having your sim banned by your carrier.

So my question, has anyone had their sim banned or had the "cops knocking on their door" or a call back from emergency services as a result of using this product. I think all sides of the story should be told. To either address these concerns or let people know exactly the risks associated with this product.

Thus far, I have not experienced any dealings with my cell phone company nor emergency services. But that doesn't mean it can't happen, so if anyone has had any such experiences please post them. I have had mine for a little over a week and no problems, but that is not too much time, so anyone else who has more experience could chime in.

Thanks sfjava and Baddabro for reporting your experience with the Sunsky version. sfjava, please update us, once you have it installed, thanks.

I've just tried my buddy ip4 and Sunsky i-smartsim works on iOS 4.1 bb02.10.04. I haven't tried on iOS 4.3 yet. So far so good, and no issue with T-Mobile network :D

It's good to hear that no one is experiencing problems with Gevey and Sunsky's copy to unlock our paperweights, but am I the only one who thinks Musclenerd's tweets about this is just pure bitterness? Take a look at what he has posted about Gevey

@
@iMohammad_ you're asking your carrier to connect you to your country's emergency response service (police/fire/ambulance). Then hang up.

From what I've read the call doesn't have to connect

MuscleNerd MuscleNerd
@
@etiago you need to dial it and hangup each time you get disconnected from network (reboot or signal timeout)

This is just BS

I think he's feeling bitter because he is seeing that almost all of us that have waited and waited and jerked off to their "rumors" about upcoming unlock, are willing to pay $70-80 for an unlock. For this money I'm sure he feels angry that he won't ever make any money out of this.

I do appreciate what the Dev-Team has done for us but they totally handled their latest situation wrong.

I'm sure I'm not going to donate another $10 after I just spent $70 for this Sim.:p

Dev team is a real joke. Ultrasl0w will never come.

Now that ionic gave them the untheter, i bet it will be released *soon* aka around 1-6 month.

Are you really complaining about a team whose tireless efforts give you something for free?
