How come many of the profiles in the last 2/3 pages signed up March 2011 and not able to get an iphone 4 with 4.3?, its as simple as upgrading.

I smell BS here. I do want to order form sunskey but i'm skeptical atm.

once att completes the purchase of tmob this whole unlock issue goes away, att will be the only gsm in the states and we all become att slaves...:(

That probably won't happen for some time number 1, second, not everyone in the world lives in the US.

So your point had a very limited perspective.

I travel internationally. Im sure lots of other folks do too. And like the member above me said, a lot of iPhones are sold outside the States. We need GSM unlocked phones whether the AT&T T-Mobile buyout happens or not. :)

In fact once the contract has been satisfied, it should be illegal for AT&T to keep the phone locked. Lots of European countries have adopted this law, but we are always wayyyyyy behind in consumer protection.

Also if you are paying full price for the iphone, it should be illegal for Apple to sell you a locked phone. Corporations have the big money, so they sway the laws their way, disgusting IMHO.

I was using my old 3GS to post my result, I tested on my buddy IP4 that has iOS 4.3 to check whether Sunsky product works as advertised.

...just got my SIM about 20 minutes ago...trimmed my t-mobile SIM and I got it working the first try. This is great after almost 2 months of waiting.:D

Then don't vote for politicians who accept money from corporations--or at least those who aren't massively sucking the corporate teat.
As long as corporations are considered people, they will always be able to bribe . . . er, donate to the politicians.

Important Links & Confirmed Unlocks

Thank you all who have shared your experience and thoughts on the Gevey Turbo SIM. You guys are awesome.

I ask someone for a big favor. If possible, could you list the "legit" suppliers of the Gevey (links if possible)? (If you bought on ebay and your Gevey works, who is the trusted seller?) That would be a tremendous help to all of us.

First, here is a list of what Firmwares and Basebands the Gevey unlocks. (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Gevey Sim is an unlock solution for iPhone 4 iOS 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.2.1 newest iOS 4.3 with baseband 2.10.04 / 3.10.01/04.10.01

Does the phone have to be jailbroken for the Gevey to unlock?

No Jailbreak is required. Note: if your iPhone is jailbroken and you are using GEVEY sim, do not do a reset to erase all data and settings

My hope was some pro here could come up with a easy, one stop shop for info if they wanted to get a Gevey for their Iphone. Cheers to anyone who can do this!

Well most of those questions are answered within this thread. Granted you have to be willing to read through it. But since most people's experience is still new, there is still a lot of information coming in.

In any event:

1. You don't have to be jailbroken
2. It works on all firmwares up to 4.3 and basebands up to 4.10.01
3. I couldn't tell you which suppliers are legit from those that aren't as I have only experience with 1 of them.

+1 for getting it to work on the first try.

But I'm also experiencing some battery issues. Although I don't think it's a consequence of the Gevey, I should mention my phone is brand new (2 days old) and not jailbroken... Once I inserted the Gevey and set up my network settings, the phone just started to visibly drain. I can't make any contrasts other than to say my 3GS seems to have a better battery life. Just my 2 cents.

Oh and FYI, once you have unlocked your phone, you can toggle airplane mode and you do not lose the unlock.

Nope.. This has everything to do with some packages you have intalled via cydia, gevey sim is active only when doing the steps in order to unlock.[/QUOTE]

Well I uninstalled almost everything I've got from cydia and that didn't stop something from draining my battery :(

Does anyone know how to change the default voicemail number? I to acesss my voicemail via the normal method and it called out to some foreign number.

I don't know how the Gevey works in terms of whether it is constantly on or not, but I have not experienced any noticable battery drain. In fact, since starting to use my iPhone 4 rather than my 3GS as my primary phone, I have better battery life (probably because the 3GS has an older battery).

Turn off the wifi if you don't need it. Wifi drains the battery very quickly.

wifi also off, I use cellular data network, will try without it.

And one strange thing..I have to switch on Data Roaming if I want to use data network, previously on iPhone 3G that wasn't the case.

If you don't need 3G, turn off 3G especially if you're on T-mobile...just use EDGE.

My vote always comes down to who's the smaller crook :p
We dont have much of a choice.

gevey

After long debate i finally decided to buy the Gevey ( i Paid $39,- for it at www.unlockaniphone.org ) and im glad i did! The Sim works perfectly fine with 3G enabled.
Calling 112 isnt an issue at all either: just press 112 and hang up, long before it starts dailing and connects.

the only downside is having to enable the unlock every time again after a reboot. So while this works fine, im still looking out for the Dev team solution!
