I don't think you understand what i mean by Apple tax...... Apple are the ones with huge markups on their hardware, not Google.

People trust Apple way to much, if you think they are not doing anything untoward with your data you are mistaken. Apple cover things up, at least Google is fairly transparent with what they are doing. I trust Google way more then Apple, just look at the whole iPhone 6 Battery fiasco, Apple tried to cover it up and people were upgrading their phones when all they needed was a new battery to restore performance. Really trustworthy right lol

Like when the FBI took
Google to court ... oh wait. Well an alternate Android app store went to court here in Europe to force Google to allow this alternative App store to be installed on Android phones.

Go do Facetime with an non-apple users :p
We can always stoop down to their level and download Skype.

Thats fine just remember this all started because you said only Apple had a photo sharing feature and thats why you could never leave Apple acting like Android users are missing out on something. I then showed you that Google also has this feature and im not paying the Apple tax to use it :)
My point was that if I had an Android that wouldn’t have happened because everyone in my world uses an iPhone. Android users tend to get butthurt over that for some reason. Apple is king where I am.

I disagree, I think Apple are a lot more trustworthy than Google.

The Google tax is having your data harvested by Google and then using that to sell advertising. My data is worth a *lot* more than the money I pay to Apple for equivalent services so Apple is overall much better value for money.

I respect your choice in that situation, my point is us android users are more then happy with our choice as well, we are certainly not missing out on anything.

The S9 was just released, this year. The OP's point is that he/she got tired of his/her barely 3-years-old flagship had to be factory reset frequently due to issues.
We can only make a comparison with the S9 3 years from now. As of this point, Samsung is still the same, their handsets don't age well.

Not sure what you driving. I have a buggy ass iPhone X in my hands now. Apple hasn’t had a non buggy system since iOS 11. Smh. They all have their cons n pros

Careful, don’t make overreaching statements over what services ”we” (as iPhone users, I assume) use. Over here in Europe also iPhone users are likely to use WhatsApp and Google Photos as an Apple exclusive solution just won’t cut it in most circumstances.

I’m in Europe as well.
Uk and Switzerland.
Everyone has an iPhone and uses iMessage and FaceTime.
What’s app, signal, and telegram are also used but they still use iMessage and FaceTime, it’s not an either or situation like some are insinuating.

I use WhatsApp for a family group as one of my sisters and my aunt have Android phones. As soon as I’ve upgraded them to iPhones, we’ll be able to dump WhatsApp for family group chat.

For everyone else it is iMessage.

Let me tell you the S9+ runs better then the iPhone X. The better ram management alone makes it far superior.

Interesting. I've never experienced a smoothly running Samsung phone, and I've owned several of them. iPhones have always been smooth, I will give them credit for that.

It was the T-Mobile version. I am on JoD. Already jumped back to an iPhone 8. I'll be able to jump again in September to the 2018 iPhone.

Wow, that's a huge downgrade! Qualcomm X20 with B71 to Intel XMM7480 without B71!

The majority of my contacts use what’s app regardless of what platform they are on but the majority are on android. I’m in the uk too.

The only iPhone I can ever remember being a bit buggy was the 3G. I remember having a lot of app crashes. Otherwise I agree on the statement about iPhones being smooth. However the last Samsung phone that I used for more than a few months was the S5 and I had no issues with that.

I used the S7 edge and note 8 for 3 months each although they were not my daily driver. They were fine too.

A friend has just had to get rid of an S6 Edge because performance and battery life had dwindled to nothing. The phone only lasted 3 years whereas my dad is still using a nearly 5 year old 5S.

My Dad is still using his iPhone 5 from 2012. Not his daily driver but it still works. My mum was using an iPhone 4 from 2010 as her daily driver up until last year. She upgraded to the SE. If I wanted to keep a phone for a long time the iPhone would be the one I’d keep because they do last.

OIC. iPhone apps are so pathetic that they made you stoop down. :)

Iphone is smooth but at expense of performance. Smoothness is achieved with slow animation and transition thus reducing overall performance/speed in carrying out tasks.

Yeah but they can’t download FaceTime or iMessage .

Yeah except I don’t have skype or WhatsApp installed on my phone. Skype is choppy and looks like garbage, FaceTime has the smoothest video stream I’ve seen thus far.

Slower performance? Lol, sure. Keep telling yourself that. I’ll need a citation too. Its really amazing the lengths you Android people need to go through to convince yourselves you made a good choice.

Maybe you are the one going to great lengths to be oblivious to reality. These are for older speed tests for note8/s8. The newer s9 is even faster.

Yep, it’s not an either or situation. I use iMessage for one-to-one communication with iPhone contacts other than my wife (we gave up using iMessage years ago as there were multiple instances of messages arriving hours late), but for group messaging WhatsApp is simpler as no one has to care about which platform people are using and because of that also iPhone users here tend to have WhatsApp installed. WhatsApp does have the disadvantage of not having an iPad app like mentioned in this thread, but if and especially when half or more of the group is on Android, iMessage is a non-starter despite being more nicely integrated for those who use it. WhatsApp does have desktop clients for both Mac and Windows, though.

The same goes for Google Photos. I have my photos syncing to both iCloud and Google Photos as there’s no such thing as a too comprehensive backup strategy and most often Google Photos is the easiest way to share photos as users of both platforms have access to that one.

I didn’t see anything here that would encourage me to switch. When you give an Android 8GB of Ram it opens an app a half second faster. Yay. You still have to deal with an overall inferior OS that will start to go to crap within a few months of ownership. You can keep the garbage to yourself, I’ll stick with the iPhone.

We tend to just fallback to SMS for group chats with mixed iOS and Android users. That means we still use the default messaging app except we get green bubbles instead of blue.

I live in SoCal and people here don't seem to install WhatsApp automatically. Most use whatever default messaging app is installed on the device (except young people who tend to use SnapChat). With unlimited messaging included in almost all plans, MMS/SMS charges have never been an issue so I guess people just rarely look for alternative messaging apps.

Well, the groups I message with tend to share also images every now and then, so that makes SMS/MMS fallback a terrible option because of the severely degraded image quality. With WhatsApp you’ll get a similar quality (in practical sense anyway, haven’t checked the actual details) as iMessage.

Yeah, we tend to use Facebook, Instagram or Google Photos for image sharing.
