Is there still people who don't use scrollwheels? tbh I think I never touch a scrollbar these days, horizontal of vertical.
I don't have a scroll wheel on my laptop :D I prefer the thicker scroll bars to the thin ones but the thins one's aren't too bad. One thing I dislike about Windows 10 is the auto hiding scroll bars. When reading a long page on the laptop I like to leave the cursor at the bottom of the scroll bar so I can tap on the track pad to go down a page (because sometimes the page down keys don't function...why???). When the scroll bar disappears I cannot do that...I have to move the pointer so they reappear. Worse is I haven't figured out when they disappear or not. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. I guess I should look into that.

I find it funny that everyone is acting surprised about this announcement. Apple is not your friend, they are a business and just like Canon who are protecting their lines, so is apple. You want pro? well they're going to make sure they squeeze every last penny out of you for that.

two finger scroll on mac laptops.

When the time comes and you do get a computer, please come back and post here what you purchased and how do you like it (and which
ever OS it uses). Good luck!

here's how it's looking now- MSI X99A, i7-6850K 6 core 40 lanes, Titan X maxwell, 32GB DDR4 3200, 1000W psu, and a Oculus Rift and Win10 pro. thanks for your kind words, I'm going to take a break from here for a bit, apple has nothing to offer at this time.

Has anyone else noticed that the ads for the HP Z work stations almost seem like a 'dark' version of would could have been a Mac Pro ad? I say this as looking at the interiors of those work stations seems almost inspired by Apple of yore and in some respects - better. I sure hope Apple is eyeballing those as they are gaining a rather rapid fan base (though not particular large in the grand scheme but noticeable).

i think it's worth remembering/realizing that not only does apple make macs, they also use them.. for all the things a creative pro would use them for (graphics/video/CAD/3D/photo/etc) as well as software development and whatnot..

like, they absolutely know their computers are completely capable of a wide variety of professional computer settings.. they probably have more 'pros' using macs under one roof than any other organization out there..

idk, it's probably worth remembering this when reading all the internet proz talking 'apple doesn't care about pros' and the like.

Apple is hiring a gazillion Windows infrastructure systems engineers right now. I just interviewed there. They are building out a massive Win 2016 environment.

I use a scrollwheel every day. In fact, a scrollwheel is necessary for many pro video/3D applications, such as DaVinci Resolve, Maya, Cinema4D, etc. Their UIs aren't even usable without the middle click provided by the scrollwheel.

Not surprising. They used to eat their own dog food, so to speak. Open Directory on Xserves, Xserve RAIDs, the whole shebang. Pity. I still have to wonder if there's any credence to the rumors that they are considering getting back in the server hardware space...

Never tried a Mac mouse before. It took me a while to scan the pictures. Apple support told me to swipe the mouse. I did and it didn't worked. Silly me or silly instructions. LOL, swipe the top of the mouse is what she meant. I thought Move the mouse left or right. We were both laughing at the end of the conversation. I'm so embarrassed.

what's in it?

NetApp:

and HP:

but then again, this is a much different type of computing than the kind you quoted me as saying.

Sadly, I can't argue with you. The new MBPs at those prices are a joke imo. 16GB RAM max?!? The iPhone 7 ... meh. Seriously Apple, wtf?! I see buying a OnePlus3 phone and Surface Pro 4 by the end of the year.

The ram limitations are intels fault. For some reason tho people cant seem to accept the truth lol. Guess what else? This prob won't change until 2018 or so.

If it's intel's fault how come you can buy other laptops with Skylake and 32GB of RAM. I think the issue is exactly like Phil said, Apple chose battery life and thinness over RAM. They couldn't get any more soldered chip on a board of that size without increasing it and reducing that amount of battery further.

Any that's off topic.

Well said, thank you.

Apple Engineer: "Hey, we could put 32 gigs of ram in here, but the battery life might be the same as the last model, and we have to keep the case size the same as the last model or maybe only reduce it by 1mm."

Apple Marketing: "No way. It absolutely must be much thinner than the last one, and the battery life has to be more important than ram. Besides, who uses 32 gigs of ram anyway?"

Form over function. But hey, its thinner!

according to the spec sheet, the CPU used in the low-end model only supports 16 GB of LPDDR3 RAM max.
the limit would be 32 GB if Apple would have used DDR4/-RS RAM (which would be bad for battery life, I assume).
