Do we really think its a bad thing that we haven't seen a leak yet?
I think it's good. Google surely don't want leaks, and I think the consumer should enjoy the build up and wonder! I certainly am anyway.
Why would we want it spoiled?! Leaks are good sometimes so you can keep a phone on your radar, or not buy another model in case you want to hold out, but they often only tell half the story anyway.

I'm both happy and sad at no leaks. My expectations are high at this point for the Pixel 2 XL. If on announcement day they finally unveil it, showing the front, and it has the same big bezels as last year, they might as well kick my puppy. This is what I'm most worried about. I've already accepted the regular sized 2 will look almost the same as last year but if the XL does, then I'm out for sure.

Both good and bad.

Good. Keep us hopefully pleasantly surprised

Bad. Could mean there is nothing to leak, that what we have seen - is all we will end up seeing.

Can't see it just being the bad option. No waaaay.
But now I'm like "wait whut."

The reason we haven't seen any true leaks yet, is because Google probably only has a dozen made at this point. And then Oct. 4th, they will start production based on pre orders. LOL

Whereas Apple has thousands of test units out in the wild months before they go on sale.

Behind the scenes this is Google's Pixel team. "Ok, team, let's price this new Pixel 2 at stupid high prices so we don't have to worry about production and back orders, because only a dumb **** will actually pay $1,000 for this phone." Oct. 4th comes "Oh **** some people area actually placing orders now, these phones won't be shipping till January "

$950 is just outrageous, no thanks Google. I bought my brand new Nexus 6P 64GB for $499 direct from Google, it had the same high end flagship hardware as that years Samsung Galaxy line and the top LG's and HTC's. It was also built with high end materials. The Nexus 6P for 2015 was every bit a high end flagship smartphone. Same hardware as other flagships. Nice metal build quality. OLED display. Nice camera. So why two years later is the new Nexus ( I mean Pixel ) now DOUBLE the price ? F no.

TBH the whole industry is heading that way, apart from maybe LG (who are struggling) and OnePlus (who have Oppo backing them).

I agree, maybe this year is a tipping point where consumers start saying "Enough is enough."

I've been asked by a lot of iPhone users to recommend Android phones since the Apple announcement - they seem to think it's only ever going to get more expensive for them. (I see the irony in the Note 8/Pixel 2 pricing! But at least there are plenty of other options = G6, S8, OP5 etc).

Lol, sadly you probably hit the nail on the head.

I'm curious to see what Apple consumers also do about the price hikes to pretty much everything else. They jacked up the price of memory upgrades, the new Apple TV, and got rid of the AW2 to force everyone onto the AW3. I'm sure peripherals will continue to be grossly overpriced as well.

I wonder if this means anything for wireless charging. Currently, it doesn't look like the Pixel 2 models will have that feature.

Wireless charging is about to explode. #notaNote7joke.

I'd like to think that it's at least going to be better than last year, knowing how much in demand they were.

Yet it happens at every launch of theirs, it seems.

This is going to be the 'catch' that screws it all up for many of us ...

Them and Apple.

Google will botch it because they always do, and Apple is gearing up for a demand that they can't meet (Apple catching up like this is going to be frustrating for the customers).

I wish some kid would spray paint a correction onto that billboard modifying the google search queries: "Why is there no availability to purchase a phone?", "Will I have to wait 3 months for a phone to be in stock?", etc.

Someone with photoshop skills needs to do this and just tweet them.

Remember that rather ugly Pixel launcher they were experimenting with, where the Google search bar is baked into the dock on the bottom of the home screen?

That might be the official launcher of the Pixel 2:

More Pixel 2 feats leak: always-on song recognition, new launcher, portrait camera mode

Oh no, that search bar definitely doesn't need to be at the bottom of the screen like that. I get the reasoning behind it -- but I'm quite content with the search bar at the top of the screen. I think it also is very iconic. It's been an Android staple for a long time -- that large Google search bar towering above the rest of the home screen.

One week to go!

I don’t get why google never adopted the swipe down on the launcher for search, like iOS.
