I'm really curious about this statement. What makes stock Android so much better/more advanced than iOS?

I flirted with a Pixel 3XL earlier this year, and I thought it was pretty decent overall, but I didn't necessarily feel either OS was so much better than the other. So Im definitely interested to learn more about this before the next round of new flagships are released this fall.

For me, Android is just smarter and does more. Also, notifications are much better on Android. You have more control over what you can do in Android so you can tweak to your visual liking or even more settings in general.

The big advantages of iOS (for me anyways) are the apps in general are more polished on iOS. Heck, some of the Google apps even look/perform better on iOS which is mind boggling. And if get overwhelmed with options or tinkering then iOS is a good option. You can't customize a ton so it's a "set it and forget it" type of situation. Some people desire this.

Me, I love both Android and iOS so I'll be getting an iPhone XI and a Pixel 4 XL. As a result of this I may also be getting a divorce.

I did notice in my time on Android earlier this year that the iOS versions of some apps definitely felt more polished...which is probably the incorrect thing to say but they just seemed to make more sense or flow better to me. Im not sure if thats an iOS bias or not.

Agreed that iOS apps are more polished, but I'd also say that the gap has gotten a lot smaller than it was a few years ago.

I saw a news article questioning whether the hand gestures rumoured to be on the Pixel 4 could replace a touch screen. Which sounds pretty ridiculous to me. I'm sure it will have it's uses but no way it can be as accurate as pressing exactly what you want on screen. And completely takes away one handed use.

If you can wait, it might save you an RMA and a couple hundred dollars. I'm going to try to rock the 3a until a month after the 4 launches and wait for deals.

I agree on waiting this go around. the Pixel 3/3XL was pretty much $200 off for a while after launch (sales would come and go pretty frequently). thankfully I did not order day 1 like I normally do so I was able to take advantage of a sale. I'm not sure the P4/4XL will have as many sales but it might... at least worth waiting a few months to see if they do that $200 off deal like the 3/3XL.

I hope to rock the 3a until there is a sale on the 4, but my 3a is laaaaag city. Dropped frames galore switching between menus / screens. Set up as new when I got it, currently running Q beta. Hope the final release fixes things.

Mid range specs bro...mid range.

I was running Q beta for a while but then went back to Pie to get my work email app working... Pie on my 3a is incredibly smooth and much faster. I do miss Q but I've been liking being back on Pie

I am running the Q beta 5 and it doesn't seem as smooth as stock P. I ran Q 4 earlier, and ran back to Pie, and noticed a big difference in performance being better on Pie.

The beta seems worse with the gestures mode turned on from my experience. Back on Pie and it is super smooth.
Yeah I've experienced the same thing. Also, some apps are not updated to be compatible with the new gesture system yet, like Facebook Messenger if opening a chat bubble. For ultimate experience, I'm going to roll back and start the phone from scratch.

We've seen a lot of good leaks on the Pixel 4 line so far have there been any specification leaks?

-Battery size? 4,000mAh hopefully
-RAM? 6GB or 8GB?
-Screen type? Flat or curved?

I'm guessing flat screen, 6gb RAM and hopefully the biggest battery possible!

Is 6 gb going to be sufficient to handle all that weird radar gesture stuff? I haven’t been keeping super close track yet of all the latest news so I’m a little fuzzy on the details of what’s been leaked.

I just know I’ve got 8GB on my S10+ and that’s been smooth as silk. My Pixel 3XL has not been as smooth. Less so for my husband than for me, but still. It had the makings of a great phone but dammit why did they get stingy on the RAM?

I don’t want to go through (again) with Pixel what I’ve been through with Apple, feeling always a little behind the curve on some specs and having just enough to get by and feeling resentful because I knew they held back on what they could have given me for the money. Good lord it was bad on my iPhone 6Plus. I felt I wasted my money on that phone. The 6s Plus was the one that served me and my sister-in-law well. I guess it still could. It’s her backup phone, still.

Anyway, this looks interesting for sure. I had always meant to trade up my 3XL and I probably will. I’m not sentimentally attached to it like I was Snowball. But the 4XL has gotta be good or I guess I’ll skip to 5XL if there is one.

I don’t want any wonky call dropping or weird app performance issues (Amazon App) or camera won’t work while streaming music problems, and so forth. It’s got to compete with Samsung.

This is probably the phone I would try if I ever got back into Android.

Face recognition, AOD, Wireless Charging and regular updates; what's not to love. Can anyone chime in on how Google is about warranty replacements, customer service, etc... It's really the ownership of problems on Apple's part that keeps me locked in with iPhone. However, I would like to try Android and I do get bored every so often with iOS.

I wonder will dual sim, brightness, fluidity (RAM), be fixed on Pixel 4!? I love the way that Google is giving glimpses of the phone early... I think it's masterful on their part.

I really like the OP7P too, but I can't give up wireless charging, and I've been a FIEND for AOD since forever. Too, I'd still have one of the best cameras with this phone.

If Google plays it's cards right, this is the year Pixel could go mainstream. I'm pulling for them!!!

I agree. The 3 XL disappointed me, so I hope the 4 will be a huge leap forward for Google. What do you think of the 4’s design?

Other than the forehead, I think it's a winner.

Definitely would get the white version.
If I get the 4, I’ll probably get the white, too. I’m just so tired of iOS and I don’t want to pay $1.2k+ for a phone so I can have a larger screen. Google has crazy discounts on the 3 XL, so hopefully that carries over to the 4.

As much as I’d like to try OnePlus, I’m honestly paranoid that it’s a Chinese company. :/

Will this cause some of you to hold out for the Pixel 4 / 4 XL instead of getting the Note 10?

https://www.droid-life.com/2019/08/...0hz-oled-display-6gb-ram-and-stereo-speakers/

Getting a Note 10 is not an option, if your a fan of stock Android. Don't care what people say, but Lagwiz is still learking in the shadows. And stupid duplicate apps for no reason. And way too many BS settings and useless gimmicks on Samsung phones.

To me Android is only about Pixel and OnePlus phones.
