A wide angle and no zoom would pee off a lot of buyers. And make them look stupid for the big deal they made last year over choosing a zoom over wide angle.

It would make me happy. I think their digital zoom is fantastic even on my old Pixel 2. But software can’t give you a wide angle. Well at least I don’t think so. 🤫

I am probably not going to get a Pixel 5, regardless, because it sounds like it’s going to be a big critter. But given the weird stuff going on with Apple and its App Store lately, I’m keeping an eye on this device. Edit: looks like even though the display will be large the device itself won’t be too large.

I have kids locked out of using their season pass for Fortnite. They were okay about it at first but now are getting restless and we are going to have to see what is accessible through their accounts on other devices like Switch (need to buy bigger SD cards) or my S20.

Now I am seeing some shenanigans with Wordpress that don’t make sense to me. I’m not a Wordpress user but I’m wondering what app Apple is going to smack down next that I am dependent on.

I read a few articles today regarding the P5 and the leaked specs/demensions suggest it could have a similar screen size to the P4a.

I guess you can't make everyone happy all the time. I much prefer an ultra-wide angle myself but I understand some people want a zoom. Google could add both but then we would find something else to complain about.

I prefer an ultrawide. But when companies have been providing 3 main rear cameras for a couple of years, Google seem to want to limit their customer base by lagging behind.

I'm ok with the Pixel 5 having a smaller screen, and not the latest high end Snapdragon processor, I don't think that's a major issue.

But the two things I really need to know or want, is a massive battery in it. Please at least keep it the 4 XL battery size of 3,700mAh minimum, or even better a 4,000mAh. That in a 6" screen phone would be great. And also give us a much brighter display for once. Last few Pixel screens have all been ok, not bad, but not amazing either, always been dim and not as bright as a Samsung Galaxy or iPhone Pro display.

So if the Pixel 5 has a larger battery, and bright display, I'm in. But if it's the same type of screen as last years 4, and a small battery, then Google is ****ing stupid, and I'm out.

I think price will be really important too. It's clearly not competing with Samsung and Apple flagships anymore and that's fine. But price needs to be sib $700. If it comes in at $699 and is $100 for Black Friday that might be a really good deal.

I agree, a good display and the battery necessary to support it are important to me, as well. I do wish I could have gotten the Pixel 4a but everything I have read from actual owners about the display make me realize I did the right thing canceling my order. I don’t need flagship specs for the most part, but I do need a good display if I don’t want a killer migraine. And they apparently did skimp on display quality in a way that would likely negatively impact my condition. Fortunately, most people seem happy with it. I would have, too. I’m not picky for the sake of being picky. It’s a medical thing I don’t have any control over.

So far the leaks on this look promising. I wish it had the headphone jack but I will accept an IP water resistance in exchange. The Snapdragon it’s got is fine with me, too. I’ll keep an eye on this one.

Two color options at release, Black and Green. What kind of Green? Google bright flat green? Or a matte Army green? Or the dark green like iPhone 11?

4000 mAh is much more in line with what the Pixel 5 should have to produce solid battery life. I'm not crazy about the size since there's no XL model.

If priced right it should be a really good device, but just doesn't have anything special. It's definitely more in line with the Nexus outline...great software and decent specs and a good price. Add great cameras and it should be good although not too exciting.

What would be exciting to you? If it gets top of the line specs, it won't be priced right.
That seems to get lost on many. Can't have it all.
From what I've read, I'd be fine with what they have released if it comes with a 4000 battery.
I thought I also saw that it has 90 refresh , wide lens camera and wireless charging?

The 4a 5G only gives you 5G and a bigger battery for $150 more. That I'd pass on.

What I'm saying is I'm fine with this direction but it's very safe. For all the **** the Pixel 4 got, at least they went for it with soli and a new face unlock. There's nothing special about the Pixel 5, which is fine, but that doesn't change that it's a safe phone.

4a at $349
4a 5g at $499
5 (5g) at $599

would sell like hot cakes, but I fear $699 for the 5, which is where the 4 was/is if I recall. So less specs for same starting price would be a failure. Just adding 5g and taking away a bunch of stuff shouldn’t keep the price the same. They will say oh you got more ram, 5g etc. but it needs to start at $599 in my opinion to be an easy buy. Sure we have the sales in November, but mid range needs to be reflected in price. Don’t mess this up Google!

Some more details: No Active Edge, no Ambient EQ, a plastic body.

Meh. I’m not liking this new direction. Y’all know how much I LOVE, LOVE the design of the white Pixel 4—Pixel 5 looks very generic in comparison. :(

It also cost a lot more as well. Im no longer in the market to pay $900(XL) for phones so im glad Google went back to having cheaper prices even if it means not having face unlock which i dont use anyways. Im good with fingerprint. Only thing id like to have is wireless charging but its not a deal breaker.

Serious question here. How come you "LOVE LOVE" the Pixel 4 design so much which has a much bigger forehead than the sides & chin, but Samsung with it's punch hole cutout front camera is terrible and triggers your OCD because of the symmetry of it?

I never said I “LOVE LOVE” the Pixel 4’s forehead. I “LOVE LOVE” the contrast between the Pixel 4’s matte white back, black border, and orange power button. Beautiful clash of colors, IMO, and unique.

Or the non symmetry of the iPhone.....A little punch hole is bad but the iPhone gets a pass with that huge gap on the top.....

You've spoken many times of how much you love the Pixel 4 and would have got one if not for purchasing something else. Which if OCD of a little hole at the top of one device drove you nuts, the Pixel 4 wouldn't even be a consideration as you're looking at the unevenness the entire time you're using it.

Not saying any more because it's off topic, just seems like selective OCD.

I said I didn’t like the punch hole about a *year* ago. I’m not sure why you’re even bringing this up or how you even remember this, ha. Anyway! Looking forward to the Pixel 5. :)

I'm guessing this is going to be the iPhone like android device ever. Google seems to be focusing solely on user experience and basically giving up on the hardware battles with Samsung who h is smart since they can't win those.

I need to know about face Id though.

Some people are just weird about phones. I remember a long time ago a guy here kept returning his iPhone because the buttons weren't flush enough or something like that or they wiggled too much. I don't even know if Apple will do that kind of stuff now,... kind of ridiculous.
