Totally understand. It's a personal use thing. I'm also constantly around chargers. But imo if I'm paying 1k for a phone in 2020, theres no reason I should have to worry about staying near a charger. I think the 4 XL was the minimum level of battery life I'm willing to put up with.
Speaking of 1K phones in 2020...I would rather compromise on battery life than say a subpar camera. I would not pay 1K or more for phones that have great battery life but then take blurry photos. Then the Pixel is priced below the 1K threshold last year anyway. This pricing hasn't really been leaked yet that I know of. But pretty sure the P5 will not be 1K.
Like i said before.....all phones come with compromises. I have charging capabilities all through my house, office and my truck. So I can top off when needed. But you can't really fix blurry photos......

I know everybody is different but camera quality and user performance are two of the most important areas for a phone to me. Nail those two down and i will love the phone that I use.

Although I’m a sucker for high power specs sometimes it’s the little things that count the most.

I get it. Like I said, its a personal use thing. It all depends on priorities.

Google has discontinued the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, its flagship phones that were released in October of last year. Both devices are out of stock in Google’s store in the US, though some variants are still available in other regions for the time being.

“Google Store has sold through its inventory and completed sales of Pixel 4 [and] 4 XL,” a Google spokesperson confirms to The Verge. “For people who are still interested in buying Pixel 4 [and] 4 XL, the product is available from some partners while supplies last. Just like all Pixel devices, Pixel 4 will continue to get software and security updates for at least three years from when the device first became available on the Google Store in the US.”

It’s unusual for Google to discontinue a Pixel phone so quickly. The Pixels 2 and 3 were on sale for around 18 months each, with Google stopping sales roughly six months after the introduction of their successors. The move means Google technically no longer has a flagship phone for sale.

This move from Google seems so weird to me.....

All models are still available on the UK store. And at full price. Really starting think there's going to be just one size 5 this year. Maybe they're getting rid of the size they sell the least of.

It’s just hard to see what direction google are going here.
It really is... they are not on a straight and narrow path here but more like this

Honestly it feels like they are trying to pivot back to the Nexus direction. But thats just a guess.
That's what I thought myself when the 4a was officially released. It reminded me of my Nexus 4 which I purchased from Google, direct for $249. Hopefully the geniuses at the top will figure it out that, they have NO chance in hell of ever catching up to Samsung, Huawei or Apple. Maybe they can compete with Motorola and that's a stretch because Motorola probably sells more phones than Google's brand.

Amazon had a similar epiphany wrt their Fire Tablets. They would never overthrow the iPad so they went for budget tablets and that's been a MASSIVE success for Amazon. Maybe just maybe Google has figured that out and they'll release phones in the budget and mid budget category. If I wanted to spend a $1000+ on a phone which I would never do, I would first buy an iPhone, OnePlus or Samsung phone.

The Pixel 4a price point vs specs and value is an absolute winner and it's good to see Google finally admit that the Pixel brand will always be niche.

Which seems hard to believe given Ross young seems to think it’s true. Guess will see
Doesn't seem a reliable source to me. In the tweet where he mentions a 5G Google phone with 6.67" & 120hz, he goes on to reply:
"I guess the name is either the 4a XL or the 5. In any case, it should launch in 60 days or so."

It's been known for a very long time there wouldn't be a 4a XL.

He’s the most reliable source out there for displays. Chances are what he says it’s correct but maybe the naming is wrong

He seems to think the 4a we have now will also be a 4a XL so no pixel 5? Seems confusing

Still way off on a 4a XL. Google have already told us they'll be a 5.

It's a bit difficult to get excited about this year's Pixel. No wide angle and a cutout front camera would surely mean no face unlock.

There are no exciting phones this year besides the Fold 2. The new Notes are great but not much different or better compared to the S20.
