Curious to what makes you think it is the best in the business ? Personal experience ? Having had the Pixel 4 and owning the iPhone 11 Pro I think they are as equal as they can be. The speed difference is so little that should not make a difference to anyone. I tested them over and over again and I never could see a difference in how fast they unlocked compared to each other.
I have the P4XL and 11 Pro Max and switch back and forth. The P4XL face unlock is faster and takes me straight to my homescreen. No swiping required. Sometimes i can just glance at the Pixel and it unlocks! It is amazing. Then combined with Motionsense the display is on while i am reaching to pick up the Pixel.
Don't get me wrong...I love my iPhone and it is my daily driver. But imho Googles facial unlock is better than Apple's right now.

100%. The pixel unlock process is pretty much perfect imo

I did appreciate the phone going straight to the home screen with no swiping. I am assuming Apple did this so people do not miss notifications. I never really noticed Soli/Motionsense making much difference besides draining the already pathetic battery life of the Pixel 4. But I see your points and appreciate the response.

So is this image in the 5G portion of Google's Store our first actual 'official' image of the Pixel 5?

So am I hearing it correctly that there will be a small 4a, larger 4a with 5g, and a 5 (more premium but still mid range) with 5g?
According to three Android websites, that's how I read it. Supposedly the 4a 5G Phone will be larger although no screen size was given and supposedly it will be priced at $499 both the 4a 5G and the Pixel fall scheduled for this fall.

If that's the case it's better to wait for the 4a 5G because it should come with Android 11 while the 4a has Android 10. So waiting a few months gets you an extra year of OS upgrades for the 4a 5G.

My thoughts too. I will wait for the Pixel 5XL later this year. If there is no XL then I will hold onto my 4XL as it is till a great phone!

With the mentioning of 5g and pixels I do wonder if fi is actually going to support 5g. Not a huge issue if they don't but it would make me less interested in upgrading to a 5g pixel. Unless the price is right.

No XL, no purchase for me.
Same here...No XL not worth it to me. I'll hold onto my 4XL a while longer.

Regardless of the presence of a 5XL, barring some crazy new feature addition that hasn’t yet been mentioned, I’m skipping this generation of the Pixel (first generation of Google phone I haven’t bought since the Nexus 6). My Pixel 4XL is....fine. The screen is good, battery life is subpar, camera is excellent as always, but there’s nothing that draws me towards using it on a regular basis. Google’s lack of focus on really putting out an exemplary device over all these years has finally worn me out.

If I get any new Android phone this year, it’s going to be a Galaxy Z Fold 2. And that says something considering Samsung is one of my least favorite OEMs.

I'm interested in a 5XL because I've had the Note 10+ for 9 months now and wouldn't mind another Pixel. But with no talk of a wide angle, not sure I'd want a phone without one.

And I'm no longer a day 1 purchaser of phones. My interest has lessened this past year and I have other AV wants that take priority.

All of this confusion in the the Pixel line up is making me lean towards the Z Fold 2 or Surface Duo or even the Note 20 as my next smartphone purchase. Its a shame really...the Pixel 4XL has been my favorite Android phone.

Agreed. Usually I have a pretty good idea what phone Im gunning for in the fall but this year I have no idea. What makes it harder is not knowing when phones will be announced/released because of Covid.

Im out on the Note 20 even though it'll probably be he best android phone released this year. Its just not a big enough upgrade on my s20 plus to justify the price.

If the Fold 2 is ~$1700 I may make the leap. I'll also be really interested in the iphone 12 if it has 120hz. If not, Im out on that as well. And the Pixel 5 is still a huge mystery.

Seems like they are trying to simplify and condense their Pixel lineup. I think they would be down to 2 phones this year but it was too late to add 5g to the 4a.
Not sure I follow that? If it was too late to add 5G to the 4a, how come there's supposedly a 4a 5G?
