So what phone is Marques going too then? Sounds like he wants highest end Snapdragon, lots of RAM, and fast 120hz screen. Only phones that do that top notch today are the One Plus 8 Pro and Note 20 Ultra, those are the two power kings this year, I think.

Or is he secretly an iPhone guy?

He always carries an android and an iphone. So he'll have both. Traditionally he's gone Pixel but lately if I remember correctly he's been meaning towards OnePlus because Pixels have been so lackluster. He is not a fan of Samsung as much as he won't come right out and say it.

He's a android main but I think he prefers oneplus, he never spoke on his main android phone outside of Pixels when they were more flag like. I don't see him using Samsung IMO.

Probably something like a OnePlus 8 or something.

We can crap on Sammy all day but the S10 still performs pretty damn good and I'm sure the S9 is still usuable.

Biggest issue with the pixel is if Marques a sees a bit of lag now whats gonna happen after a few updates?

I wish they'd gone with a 9 series Snap for the 5, I think it's a great phone to get out the house with.

Yeah in fairness i always get the feeling he doesn’t like samsung phones. Praising it’s cameras seem hard for him.

He doesn't. He tries to stay unbiased because of what he does for a living. But it's clear to see he's more willing to point out flaws of Samsung devices and even when he praises them he never used them as his daily outside of review periods. Which is fine, to each their own.

He’s always either pixel or one plus guy but always has an iPhone like every YouTuber it seems

dont think it’s a secret he’s an iphone user when he always has an Apple Watch on ha

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that content creators keep iPhones. I think it’s due to the fact there’s so much variety with Android phones. It’s a new Android phone to review every month.

With iPhones.. you don’t have to do too much juggling. Apple release a iPhones two times a year.

I don’t think it’s Samsung he doesn’t like.. It’s the “bloat” Samsung adds to Android he isn’t a fan of. He’s already been on record saying.. if he can have Samsung hardware on top of PIxel software, that would be a dream phone.

Similar to how Google did back in the past, when they announced Google Play Edition Phones... he was a fan of that.

I think a lot of creators love iPhones as they can use it for even content at times with how good video is. Apps like Instagram for stories for one is great where on android phones is not. So for social media i would say that’s why iphone is a big strength. I know mrwhostheboss said this is why iphone is his daily driver.

Yeah, I seen that vid. That video was interesting, but I kind of figured that social media apps was somewhat handicapped by the variety of Android. I'm not heavy on the social media scene, but I get it. And the fact, Apple Watch is the best smartwatch. I'm to the point.. where I don't even want to own a smartwatch, if it's not an Apple Watch. Therefore, as I use the Fold2 as my daily driver.. no smartwatch!

I'm patiently waiting for Apple to make the Apple Watch standalone. Or perhaps... Apple makes a huge leap with iOS. Things that's keeps me on board with Android:
  • Sound Assistant
  • Revamp Notifications
  • Multitasking
I think a version of Sound Assistant could be on the road map soon, Apple needs to open that up eventually... be able to have multiple audio streams going at one time. Not sure about a new notification system anytime soon. Multitasking, I don't think that's going to even come along at all.

I can't go without my AW... I do use Fitbit 2 just to get something and not wear a second watch lol

I'm always picking up my Android phone.. Nothing beats multitasking on our phones.... Get with it Apple!

Bad Stuff

  • Battery life not as good as last year
Don’t expect the 12 Pro to be the battery champ the 11 was

It felt like the battery on the iPhone 12 Pro died a lot faster than I expected. After around 2.5 hours of screen on time, I was at 18 percent. Of course, we were using 5G a lot for testing, and using the mmWave radio drains the battery faster, so it’s hard to say how representative this is.

My question, can 5G be toggled On/Off?
I can’t tell. I don’t have a contract for 5G so when I go into controls all I see is 4G or LTE. My husband said he saw that we are surprisingly in a 5G coverage zone. He was going to look into upgrading our plan to 5G since AT&T supposedly won’t raise our costs, but I think maybe we should skip it this year.

I’ve not noticed any particular issue with battery life yet. I’ll need a few days to be sure.

Getting back to the Pixel 5, how has the connectivity been? Any dropped calls or issues with sound quality? We had a bit of issues on 3XL, my husband and I. I never have had issues on my Pixel 2.

annndd, back to iPhone in the Pixel 5 thread.

Nobody has a Pixel 5 and has used it some to report back on how it is in real-world use?

Would be amazing if it gave this kind of battery life! Weird how it sometimes (same with other Pixels I've owned) doesn't reset the stats unless you charge the phone to 100%.

It’s a great phone and pretty much exactly how reviewers have stated. I don’t do any gaming on my phone and the only slight slowdowns come in processing low light photographs or editing video clips. Stills are fantastic although possibly getting a bit close to over processed at times - a little too much HDR and slight halo effect.

Screen is fantastic. The vibrate/haptic motor is better than the Pixel 3 but not a patch on iPhone. Can’t compare to P4.

I know I’ve mentioned it a few times but if you’re using the camera in some 3rd party apps you don’t always get the benefit of the Pixel image processing software and can end up with pretty bad pics/video you’d expect from a 3yo 12MP sensor.

I love the screen. Lack of face unlock doesn’t bother me. I do like using the fingerprint reader to bring down notifications but it is super easy to activate.

Battery is relentless!

For me the size and weight is spot on. Not the most inspiring design but the resin finish feels good to hold and feels more solid than plastic despite what some people might say.

Can’t comment on 5G as not in a 5G area.

Just want to reiterate, that the majority of the time, this phone is as smooth and fast as any flagship but you do notice it when you try to stretch it.

People with the Pixel 5 now or getting one, few questions please;

- Naked or case?
- dBrand skin on a naked phone or with a clear case?
- Do you use a different launcher besides stock?

Great to hear you pulled trigger ...I’d recommend Dbrand skin which you can then use with a clear case as well ...
