Has anyone tried Beeper mini yet?

Installed it earlier but my iMessages have been pretty dry today. I'm in the doghouse with the wife and the kids are at school.

Looks like it adds the ability to get imessages to your phone number now on android and not just to your Apple ID email. They also said you can continue to use the regular beeper app once you registered your number through beeper mini. Excited about the possibilities here.

I have been using it and it works perfectly. Once installed it takes 2 mins to set up, it auto detected all of my iOS folks' SMS / Google messages and converted them into iMessage chats. It's using my phone number for iMessage. The mini app doesn't work with Android Auto yet which is annoying but is what it is for now. This is huge. I don't believe this will be tolerated for long by Apple, I'm enjoying the ride for now.

Thanks for linking that video, it's a good watch. I had no idea that Apple's implementation of RCS next year won't be E2E. I guess I'm not surprised, but that is just asinine and anti consumer for no purpose at all but to gatekeep some more, and all the more reason to support projects like this. Apple is hurting its own users by not having RCS be E2E encrypted with Android chats.

$2.00 a month to give a blue bubble to others? Ummm, no.
Beeper, I've read you have to jump thru hoops and beg to get a invite just to use it lol.
Isn't that what One plus did at first to buy their phones?
That slap happy dude also called us "broke boy Android users"....I'm not broke, I just am not going to give Apple their inflated price for their phone that does less.

I really think it's more to it than blue vs green but everyone just amps up that angle..I did not notice his statement but us Android users are anything but broke especially plenty of us here with multiple quality Android phones ..if anything keeps pushing us towards unification with these platforms ...

And someone made the comment in the MR Bot thread; are you going to trust some high school kid with your end to end encryption? Someone else said, expect Apple to shutdown that app for privacy concerns.

Google has just announced a new feature drop, ahhh this is tempting me to buy a Pixel 8 Pro (depending on if we will get those features in the UK) Also 8 Pro (blue version) is currently on Amazon for £869 REALLY tempting!

Complete difference app and implementation that requires no providing Apple ID to some third party.

I don’t care about the color of the bubbles but do appreciate being able to maintain group chats and share full native media.

If the app someone manages to persist, I cloud actually migrate my main number into an Android device since my entire social ecosystem generally use iPhones, especially my family.

But privacy isn't really the topic. It's all legit according to those that is in the know.

The issue could possibly be in using Apple's code to achieve this process...

Rolling the dice on Samsung pre order announcement if the timing will work out? Don't want to end up stuck with a Pixel 8 Pro 😉?

I say get it but I love the Pixel 8 Pro. My only regret is not getting more storage than base. I didn't even consider it and I am not in trouble but I thought this phone would be a backup to my s23u but the opposite has happened. So I just would have liked a little extra room. Just something to think about.

I got the update on AT&T unlocked today after prompting a check.

The only thing I noticed at the moment is the icons on the top right look bigger.

Look forward to hear about people's experiences with the new features.

Is your camera app updated to 9.2? I tried to install the APK but once open the app completely bugged out and said invalid app. I needed to restore the app to factory default.

Yes, looks like it to me.

I would avoid installing an apk. I have not had a lot of luck over the years personally.

I did update a bunch of apps right after the update. Maybe see if you have an update with Google Play.

Hope it works out!

Yea exactly 😬, knowing my luck I’ll watch the Samsung announcement for the S24 Ultra and want to pre-order it. I can’t justify having my iPhone 14 Pro Max, Pixel 8 Pro and a S24 Ultra 😂

I was impressed by yesterday’s feature drop tho, as well as seeing Google’s AI update. It’s impressive but also scary how good Bard has got, have you tried it yet?

This will be baked into Google pixel devices from early next year apparently. I do wonder if Samsung will work with Google to have it on the S24 Ultra.
