Did anyone notice the Google messages app has been updated with some new features?

Nope. As no one outside of the US cares about messages or blue bubbles. It’s just y’all Americans.
WhatsApp is all we care about in the UK 😁.

The only messages in my messages app are those verification ones from websites, apps or companies when logging in 😂.

You wouldn't know it the way this thread has been nothing but blue bubbles all week! 😜.
Been an interesting read though!

I have no idea if I got the update as I don't use the messages app ever. Like I say it's 100% WhatsApp for me.

Haha we like variety .. the blue bubble has been fun... At least Apple showed their cards and shut it down... No surprises on that front.

I definitely want to pull some stats because I'd bet our WhatsApp usage is very high

Ive never used WhatsApp nor have I ever met anyone who has in my smartphone history dating back to 2007 lol.

I prefer the stock experience whether that be iMessages or Google Messages. And once RCS kicks on the Apple side all will be right with the world of iOS and Android as far as I'm concerned. Tool long enough. Bubble color has zero meaning for me.

I'm surprised I have so many people that I know that use it.. plenty of group chats along with communication to relatives and other countries

Still not got this update! Not sure what’s taking so long.
My sim is back in my 15 PM at the minute though. Man, what a phone that is.

I have felt a little fatigued with slab phones in the last few years. These incremental updates that we keep seeing. But with both the 15 Pro and the 8 Pro, these little yearly upgrades have really allowed us to have 2 pretty amazing devices now. I’d quite happily take either, but I am enjoying having both to use even if one is my main and the other is to just fiddle with.

That is correct. Even then, they are firing up the stock app as I'm not creating an account elsewhere just to talk to them since they would have both anyway. I like as little friction as possible in my mobile activities.

I hear you.. I like to have different options always open for my usage but everyone is different.. beauty about WhatsApp just sign up with your telephone number set your privacy settings and you're done and good to go on any phone anytime anywhere...

Today's new wallpaper along with my second screen that I never share as it's mainly for my convenience...

FYI: Beeper Mini is back. The new update is on their website
Oh… wow! Might have to get my popcorn ready for this exchange! ;)

Edit. Read the entire blog post from the Beeper team and they decided to take subscription off at the moment. In addition to that, users have to login with their Apple ID and using the phone number to register for iMessage is off the table currently as well.

I’ve been saying this from the jump… if Beeper didn’t charge for this service, Apple wouldn’t have reacted. Attach a donation to the project… users would have gladly given money.

"preparing system update..." It's what's my phone is now showing...

So I guess confession time? Once again the p8p has been a table ornament since I stuck the sim back into the 3a for the main line. I really don't know why I can't get into it?

Anyway got the aging desktop trash heap running and decided to just do the deed as there was updates for the p8p piling up already so flashed the stock init_boot image back to the device effectively unrooting the slab and now in the process of trying to update. Wonder if it'll actually work? I've been out of the rooting game for so long I'm very rusty, everything is new and I guess I'm not into keeping up with devices anymore.

Should this update actually work, I'm not sure I'm going to continue on with the root game at least on phones.

I'm leaning towards putting the fi sim card in the p8p here pretty soon. Maybe. Same with going without root... Maybe 🤔

Really should start trying to use this thing more 🙂

Yep but have to log in to Apple ID. Haven't used mine in 13 years, don't know username or password. Not signing up for another.
And I don't want to pay monthly. Id pay a one time $4.99 but not monthly...and it doesn't benefit me lol

Has anyone else managed to scratch the display yet on the P8P?

I'm normally really careful with my phones and have never had a deep scratch on phones I have not dropped before. I don't normally bother with a screen protector. And yet I have a 1/2" graze on my front display.

Its not Google's fault or anything, I just wondered if the screen was somehow easier to nick than previous models.
