Yeah, you are probably right. Darn. I don't know. Love the front and sides but I love my camera bar even if it is a scratch magnet. I find the bar connected to the frame a bold design but it is probably expensive.

So I may just hold on to my Bay Pixel 8 Pro a while longer. But who knows. The design might grow on me.

I think I prefer the design of the s24 plus with the cameras just sticking out of the back.

It is a big design change on the back for sure. I wonder what the Pixel 10 is going to look like and if all of the rumors of TSMC are true and if it even matters since Exynos 2400 is a decent chip so far. I am still pulling for Google to stick with Samsung and for Samsung to succeed in finally designing a competitive chip in Exynos.

I do like the flow of the back on the P8P … I’m ready either way with a case it won’t bother so much …

New MINT Pixel ready to buy. Looks so good and finally a good colour for the regular P8!

I might have ordered a regular P8 in mint…
Having just tried the S23 regular, which is being returned as I just can’t with Samsung and the bad cameras plus UI, I have LOVED the smaller form factor.

I got £125 back in store credit for buying it, plus the £69 back for being a Google One member. So nearly £200 back in my Google account.
I also got 10% off the phone through perks at work so it was £629 rather than £699, then the added bonus of the store credit. That’ll come in handy for the P9 🙂.

Now to decide what phone I use as a main and start selling some of my devices as I can’t keep 3 and don’t want to really run 2 anymore.

Fixed an issue for tablet devices that caused the touch targets for taskbar icons and navigation buttons to be smaller than usual.
Fixed various issues that were impacting system stability, performance, connectivity, camera, and accessibility.
In addition, based on our testing, you might encounter the following issues when using Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3.1. These issues are already known, so there's no need to file additional reports for similar issues:

A native crash issue in /system/bin/surfaceflinger sometimes causes devices to reboot unexpectedly.
A system connectivity issue sometimes causes both outgoing and incoming calls to fail to connect.
For foldable or tablet devices, the UI navigation handle that allows a user to access the taskbar after launching an app sometimes renders too dark or too light (depending on the system theme), making it difficult to see and interact with.
An issue with the system UI sometimes causes app icons to display in the wrong locations after setting up the device.
All eligible devices enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel program will be offered an over-the-air (OTA) update to Beta 3.1.

I may need to try this prior to trading it in to Samsung. Knowing my luck, as soon as I trade it in the camera white balance / color issue will be fixed as will the duplicate notification sounds when using BT earbuds.

Just updated to the latest QPR beta and although scrolling seems improved in the Reddit app, Play Store is the same. Still getting duplicate notification sounds on phone and through earbuds when connected to earbuds. And photos haven’t improved. Took a couple of our dog, the iPhone is true to life and what my eyes see. Pixel is cold and somewhat lifeless. Apparently the new S24 is experiencing photo issues of its own, it's all just a real shame.

The iPhone always gives warmer looking photos IMO and there’s always more yellow there. But I know what you mean.
The thing is, both those photos look good to me.
You’re in a similar situation I was in when I first started comparing photos from the 2 devices. If you didn’t have the iPhone I think you’d be pretty pleased with the pixel output. It’s only because you have another device to side by side the doubts creep in.
But your other issues sound odd, sorry you’re experiencing them.

I would barely notice, that's true. There are instances where the iPhone is too warm and the Pixel nails it, but the majority of Pixel photos for me are just off in terms of white balance and / or color temp. If they'd add a white balance or color temp dial when taking the photo it would probably resolve everything.

The BT audio issue, yeah it's an odd one for sure. Phone calls and general notifications play on phone and buds at the same time unless the phone is in silent mode. Tested with AirPods Pro 2 and Sony XM5.

I just tested BT with my Galaxy Buds Pro and phone rings while buds vibrate and say the name of caller ...

Have you flagged the audio issue to Google? I’m sure there’s a way you can feedback issues. And do you know if others are experiencing it too? Sorry you’ve prob already answered these in here before!

Also, I’m sure previous pixels had that colour temp slider for photos? Odd they got rid of it.

I have not flagged the audio issue to Google and I cannot recall reading anyone else having the issue. I've gone through many settings and came up empty. Will keep trying. Does the Pixel 8 have any color temp slider and I'm missing it?

Ah found it.
It's tucked away now in the pro settings by looks of it.

Click that slider icon and then scroll to white balance. You'll get the slider on screen. I'm in bed as it's nearly 12pm UK time hence a black view finder 😅.

Aha! There it is. It does make a difference. The setting doesn’t stick though after exiting the camera app, I need to manually adjust every time. Still, that’s a major improvement. Thank you for checking on this for me!

Glad I could help! Frustrating it isn’t just on screen via a quick tap which I’m sure it used to be way back when!? :(

Freshness.
Great colour. And I accidentally matched my watch band I bought in October 😁.

Mint and Bay are by far my favorite colors. Google does a really good job with color in their designs. They need to bring back the contrasting power button colors.

But honestly this generation of Pixel is such a a great design.

Enjoy the cool mint sensation of double mint gum....That Pixel has a cool mint sensation!! 😂 Lol

Hah yeah it is very spearmint vibe.
The smaller pixel is very nice to use. I loved the size and ease of use of the S24, so my interest was peaked with this new colour.

Honestly, how people choose and use One UI over a Pixel is beyond comprehension to me. Samsung devices feel like cheap Chinese Android rip offs compared to the stock Pixel experience. To me, of course. I know people love Samsung but the camera and UI is so inferior for the money they charge I just don't know how they sell so many devices. Thank god for choice!

Choice is good. In my personal opinion Pixel UI is the best mobile OS there is. I prefer it over anything else.

That being said OneUI has come a long way. I don't hate OneUI like I used to. It has its place and some people really love it. They just need to stop with all the apps. 😆 LOL.

Samsung sells a lot of devices because they have one at any price point and because they have earned a reputation of making solid devices. They also tend to take care of their repeat customers.

I will probably always have at least one Samsung device.
