Google one is great.
The benefits listed above are good.
Like I used my iPhone on holiday recently and wanted magic eraser but no pixel. Well, turns out I can’t still use magic eraser in the Google photos app as I have a one membership!
I’ve also used the Google expert feature before too and it’s fab.

Plus, I get 2TB of storage which goes across both my iPhone photos and Google (all syncs together) so it’s so worth it for me.

Screen grab of magic eraser on iPhone.

Was just thinking this, I could sign up to Google 1 and get 10% store credit back when I buy an 8 Pro then just cancel the sub/downgrade to cheaper option? It's on a 3 month discount now as well so even cheaper.

So, if you buy Google One, you can get 10% credit meaning for a purchase of £849 (as an example) you’ll get a credit of £84.90 back in the google store ?
Yes exactly that for a new Google store price. From the pricing rumours this yearfor the UK its either going to be starting at £999 for the 8 Pro or £899. Even at £999 (£99 store credit) for the 8 Pro & Watch 2 it's a mega deal vs the iPhone prices.

I've personally used the 2TB Google One option for a long time now and it is really good. I also pay for Apple iCloud storage as I am on both Apple & Android, but I do prefer Google One.

You could always decide to downgrade your 2TB Google One subscription to a lower storage option once you've used the extra store credit. On the start of the next month of your plan, your plan will be downgraded. You might even be able to cancel it, Google are pretty flexible.

i like using google one as it's ideal for all my android phones when i do take plenty of photos on different devices. easily to keep track of.

I’ve looked at it and what seems great is the annual price, £15.99 for 100GB for a whole year.

If I buy the Pixel 8 Pro, I’m definitely going to get the Google one annual plan for all my photos. The only thing that I’m not sure of is if it’s all encrypted so even Google can’t see personal data, similar to what Apple do.

So is everyone going for the Blue? While my daughter thinks it looks “so cool”, I’m not sure I’m so cool to pull it off! Haha

Yup agree. I like that one too.
The blue has grown on me. It’s nice that it’s SO saturated!
Apple could take a leaf out of their book 🙄. The regular 15 blue looks white and the 15 Pro is the usual “make sure you hold it up to the light to tell it’s actually blue!” 😂.

I’m not sure which way I’m going yet …

Do you lose the credit if you downgrade before using it?
Good question! I dug out an old email I had from Google Support on this topic when I ordered my 6 Pro:

Eligible Google One customers will receive the Store credit within 30 days after the order ships from Google Store. Store credit will only apply 30 days after the order ships. The Store credit expires 365 days after the date received. We would recommend that if you really want to downgrade your storage and Google One subscription, do it after you have received the store credit.

If I recall, I received the credit in my account earlier than the 30 days so not sure if the 30 day wait is still accurate.

Just to note, the account credit applies to Google store purchases only, not to the Playstore app. So you can't buy a YouTube subscription with it or apps etc. For that, I use the Google Opinon Rewards app. By completing survey tasks you can earn Google Playstore credit. I've bought so many free Google apps with this over the years! Or you can build up the credit & buy a YouTube subscription.

Sold on blue

Team blue this year
Yeah definitely Team blue this year for the 8 Pro! The mint looks a great colour for those going for the standard 8.

For 8 Pro cases, I'm opting for the official blue & porcelain silicone but will hunt down a decent third party leather in brown.

I do enjoy these videos Google comes up with! Reckon the iPhone users do as well. Like the potrayal of iPhone & Pixel as mates lol

These are better than Samsung's digs at Apple.

Reminds me of the old Nintendo vs Sega days.
