I've explained it adnaseum. You don't understand the dilemma many other US based iPhone users feel because your social circle is not typical for much of the US, especially as you yourself dont use an iPhone. Other countries use WhatsApp with near ubiquity because that's what claimed an early foothold. Undoing that behavior around the rest of the world would be just as difficult as asking iPhone users to stop using iMessage here in the US. If I went and told the dozens of folks I communicate with regularly via iMessage that we need to use something else for our specific communication, I'd probably hear from them a lot less or I'd still just be getting messages via iMessage.
Same situation would exist for
@Aneres11 or
@Dave245 if you said they need to stop communicating with WhatsApp and instead tell all of their contacts to switch to something else, just for their chats.
My company is probably 50/50 iPhone / Android users, mostly my male coworkers and boss have an Android phone, and they've said their Wives and kids all have iPhones. And I've asked them before, would you switch from your Samsung phone to an iPhone for better texting via iMessage? Each one of them loudly said HELL NO, but they seem to have more of an anti Tim Cook or Apple stance for some reason, and I'm not sure what that's about. But no they don't want an iPhone.
Even us in our family that have Pixel phones, but my in-laws all have iPhones or a couple of my other siblings and Mom have an iPhone. We have zero problem communicating with them via texting through Google Messages to iMessage, the texts still go through, photos still get shared, we don't feel like we're losing anything, and those with the iPhone's have never complained about our Google texts or anything. It's a non issue in the real world.
And my brother in Spain, he prefers us to text him via WhatsApp or Telegram which we all have installed on our various Android phones or iPhone's, and it works great, and get no complaints from people needing to download a third party text app.
I guess I just don't see the issue, even though you try to explain it, still doesn't make sense to me.
Let me go back, the last time I had an iPhone was the 12 Pro Max, as I was happy to try out on iPhone, my first since the iPhone 3G. I recall being super pumped for it, and actually excited for iMessage, seriously. After a few days I asked some people, is there some settings or options I have disabled to get the full magic out of iMessage? Because I'm not seeing anything extra special or unique about it, my iPhone friends said no, "it just works" But even when texting my siblings that do have iPhone's direct iMessage to iMessage, I thought I didn't have iMessage configured properly or there was some issue, because it just seemed so regular to me, not bad nor great, but just another text app to be honest. I'm not trying to diss iMessage, honestly, I just didn't see the magic or speciaspecialness of it.
Ok rant over, let's talk Pixel 8 movving forward
