Why am I questioning myself going with the Bay blue color for the 8 Pro? I'm not a fan of black phones, as those are just too plain Jane boring to me. I used to always get white Pixel's, Pixel 2 XL panda white, Pixel 3 XL white, Pixel 4 XL frosted white, Pixel 6 Pro white, Pixel 7 Pro Black and I never liked it. But the porcelain color on the 8 Pro I was worried would be more beige cream colored, with rose colors sides, so I went with the blue instead, now not sure if that was the right choice? I did want something with some pop, something different.
My favorite blue was on the Pixel 4a. It was barely blue 🤣

At first I said I want a blue 8 Pro, then I loved the matte look of the black Pixel and then I saw vids of the porcelain 8 Pro with the silver camera bar and I said, that's it! My Pixel Buds Pro are the same color. 🥰

I'm undecided to be honest, with an offer through my dads military discount, I can get

Pixel Pro 8
Pixel Buds Pro
Pixel Watch 2 (free with the pre-order of the Pro 8)
the clear case

for a total of £1,219.48

I canceled my iPhone 15 Pro Max pre-order last week. With the Pixel Pro 8 deal I do get more included, however I'm not sure how the camera stacks up and what the batter life is going to be like.
I’d put lots of money on the fact that the camera on the Pixel will be better. Even with the 15’s ’upgraded’ camera.

I went basic with colors because I am a lame person ;)

Looking forward to my first XL or Pro model Pixel quite frankly ever. Since widgets, side-by-side apps and other features are better (actually even exist) on Android the larger screen is far more useful and acceptable to deal with on this side of the walled garden.

Max iPhones just didn't really do anything better than the regular sizes, and I always find the springboard icon sizes to be comical.

Don't get me wrong, my 15 pro is well loved, just didn't see any reason to go Max, despite the 5x Zoom being missing. Honestly, I rarely use max zoom on any of my phones (Looks like 10% in my metadata searches), and doubt I will with the Pixel 8 Pro either.

@Bkdodger

Matrix of my options was as follows.

PhoneTrade-in (Google)Swappa
13Pro (unlocked) with 512gb $550~ $700 (recent + Current sales)
Pixel 7a 128gb (Unlocked)N/A~ $380

Potential to sell both and get back $1000 and change is tempting if I don't find someone local (in my friend circle) that wants them. That said, I don't have any backup iPhones anymore, and the idea of keeping my 13 pro for additional Prores camera angles on some of my shoots is tempting. The 13 pro still takes dang, dang, good videos!

Even the zoom? I noticed that there's astrophotography as well which the iPhone doesn't have.

Changed my order, cancelled the blue, and went with the Porcelain Pixel 8 Pro. Reason being, back in the day I had the Motorola Nexus-6 Shamu, at the time only the Midnight Blue was available and the Cloud White always out of stock, and I never liked that Midnight Blue at all, was more of a purple / light blue, and the frames / sides had a glossy almsot light purple look to it, I never liked it, and I always wished I got the Cloud White.

Anyone please recap how to get the 10% google store credit ? I don’t particularly want to pay an ongoing charge for Google One as I don’t really have a use for it. Can I cancel after the first month?

The more videos I watch the more I’m pleased I went blue after being really on the fence.

I’ve also seen some really nice looking watch bands too. I’m not going to start going on a mad ordering spree yet though. Need to know if I’m going to keep the thing first 😜.

On the main page there should be a banner that says 10% off on your next purchase. Click on that and enter your email. I tried that and it didn't work for me because I received a 10% coupon before.

In your experience do you find the Pixel beats Apple when it comes to camera, including things like astrophotography and zoom?

I do prefer pixel for camera. For me it’s the best camera on a smart phone but 15 pro max has certainly improved this year and I’ve very pleased word the results.

In the past, this has been my experience. The iPhone 15PM has stepped up their game in the zoom department though and night photos are fantastic. Have not tried astrophotography on an iPhone. I'm sure its possible using an app off the app store if not in the native camera app. Astrophotography is a cool feature, but being in suburbs not too far outside of the Dallas area there is usually too much light pollution for me to give it a try.

Well I caved. For now. Not sure I'm keeping it as these trade-ins for Pixels are junk.

600 for my 6 Pro for 7 Pro; 480 for 7 Pro for a Fold when it dropped; now 420 for my 7 Pro to 8 Pro.

Sad.

Glad they value and incentivize their own phones and upgrading from them. 🙄

As it is, Ba(b)y blue, 512GB. Champage gold (I know lol) watch, Hazel band. I really liked the band color despite me reservations about the case color. Hoping it's subtle. 😬

Edit: Shocked they had 512 in all colors but, of course, they did it again, 1TB black only. But I'm a 512 guy so I'm good. Just interesting they way they do things.

Mhhh. Trade-in values are not so spectacular.

256 GB P8P with free watch still shows "Delivers Oct 12 - Oct 13".

Somewhat tempting at maybe $720 total...

~$1,125 (-$106 in Google Store "future" credit) and maybe $300 if I sell the watch).

watched a few hands on videos and reviewers go over all the features and impressions. I have seen anyone talk about the flat display? They describe how much brighter the display is but not how much flatter it is than the Pixel 7

I've never purchased anything but the WiFi versions. I always have my phone on me and paying a carrier another penny doesn't appeal to me at all.

Easy way to get the tidbits I need coming in to my phone without pulling it out and breaking focus of whatever I'm doing.
Thanks! Never thought about it, I guess smart watches are really meant as companion device not a "replacement" for your phone.

Depends how you use them. I’ve had cellular enabled on my Apple Watches for the past few years because there are plenty of times I leave my phone at home, i.e. when I take my dogs on walks/hikes, bike rides, at the gym, even trips to the store for errands.

It’s pretty great to not have a large phone to carry, especially in workout clothes, but still have access to all notifications, phone, messages, streaming media, my shared grocery list and even navigation. I realize this scenario isn’t common for most people but I can leave my iPhone at home, just bring my Pixel Fold and still have access to both ecosystems and phone numbers.

I find Pixel photos to always be underexposed and the white balance can be hit or miss. The iPhone exposure is always perfect and white balance is consistently warm.

Pixel Astro mode beat every iPhone until iPhone 15 Pro for me. The iPhone is pulling better detail and less noise now.

Zoom, pixel wins still. The iPhone 5x zoom has too much grain/noise in less than perfect light.

I’m super disappointed in the pricing. $999 for the 8 Pro makes it lose the pricing advantage it needed so bad to compete.

$420 trade in value for my 7 Pro is hilariously bad too.
