Took some side by side shot from Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro. Without night mode, the Pixel 8 Pros light sensitivity is way worse.

Depends on the app. Here in the UK the Starling banking app opens immediately on detecting your face - just like on the iPhone, but slightly faster. The NatWest/RBS app detects your face, but then you need to tap an OK button before it allows you to get into the app. I would imagine many apps will support it like Starling pretty quickly. IMO it's a major step forward. Google has implemented security that banks can accept without the bulky hardware Apple requires.
When using Face Unlock on the Pixel 8 does it go straight to the home screen when it unlocks?

Haven't read any other reviews, only watched MKBHD so far and I think the Pixel 8 Pro looks like a great improvement over the 7 Pro. Google seems to have made improvements in all the key areas where they were lagging (battery, display, video performance) while offering some pretty cool photo/video features.

It would be my choice for an Android phone if the Pixel Fold didn't exist.

I gave my Pixel Watch 2 to my daughter, but I was in a rush to get back to the office, I helped turn it on and connect to her Pixel 6 phone, she needed to install the Google Watch app and the FitBit app, ok we did that, she logged into her account on both, and it's connected to her phone via Bluetooth, but then I needed to head out.

I text her from work, and asked if her phone alerted her of the Message? She said no, none of that stuff seems to be working. It is the LTE Watch.

Does anyone have a link to a detailed guide on how to get the Pixel Watch running as a smart watch to get messages and e-mails and calls, etc...?

My phone and case are sitting in the box still LOL, just no time to open and unbox them yet, very busy workday, and then have a birthday party for my nephew tonight. Hopefully later tonight I can do that.

A little skeptical of any complaints around the camera specially to do with low light since most of the sensors are bigger to allow more light. Also the Pixel 8 Pro still hasn't officially even released. Who knows what updates will be delivered while the iPhone 15 has been out enough time to get an update to fix any issues.

So sure right now without any adjustments the Pixel 8 Pro may have less night light capabilities but I can guarantee that the cameras on the Pixel 8 Pro will out perform the iPhone overall for sure in photos but I think in video this year too.

Face it, every year Pixel's win best photos based on several metrics and I don't think this year will be any different. These early reports make me laugh. Who knows maybe I will regret this post in a few months but I think I am solid ground with my thinking.

There are some settings that do need to be checked with the Pixel Watch.
I remember with gen 1 last year I didn't think I was getting notifications, but you need to ensure that one doesn't cancel out the other. So, you can have it where the watch won't give notifications if the phone is unlocked and being used.
Here's a screen grab of my Watch app which may help. Just give all the options a read and check what settings should be toggled on / off.
