I simply don't care. There is zero impact to me Google knowing how to target ads, zero.
I remember when not too long ago, Ubuntu sold its soul to Amazon. I have an Amazon tablet and I have no problems with Amazon knowing what I purchase. In fact they have made some really nice suggestions which I took advantage of based on my purchase history. People love to bring up the Google F.U.D. as if they are the only ones doing it. Every company does.

Took pixel watch off in the middle of the night when I woke and realized I left dinner on the stovetop. (Maybe it is risky) but put items in the fridge and washed out the pan (it was veggie stock left in a big pot and it was still kinda warm). If I don't post after mid week call it food poisoning ;) .

Anyway, after I was done, I put the watch back on, unlocked it and went back to sleep. The darn thing didn't record the rest of my sleep (after 3am). So my first night with it has a poor sleep score. It also failed to detect I went back to sleep after my midnight cleaning session.

Not happy about that.

Is the front display not completely flat? My screen protector doesn’t completely stick, it slightly lifts along the edges all the way around.

Anyone else with a screen protector? I have the regular 8.

I'd say you were given the wrong protector. I dont think it is supposed to go all the way to the very edges. Mine didn't on my P7 and the one my Wife got with her case doesn't. It stops just short so what you have going on, doesn't happen.
And I think they do that to leave some room for cases. Some cases sit more on the edges than others. My Crave case does it more than my Google case did. And i guess there is a slight edge on the bezel.

Has anyone experience overheating while gaming or anything related?
Not gaming, but I have gotten the phone to overheat.

I have gamed playing South Park and it runs fine and doesn't heat up at all.

Just like the Pixel 7 Pro and Tensor G2 the Tensor G3 has a tendency to heat up fast. The difference is that it doesn't heat up doing nothing like the G2 and it seems to be better overall.

Battery life is much better as is performance. The Tensor G3 is a big improvement over the G2. However the cooling system that Google uses is inadequate for this type of high performance chip. If we had the same vapor chamber cooling Samsung uses I don't think it would overheat except for rare cases.

That all being said, it feels faster than the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 but maybe not as fast as 8 gen 2.

I'm glad I waited, and came down to the T-Mobile store to test this phone before I ordered it.

Pixel 8 pro can only hit 1-3mbps, my Fold 4 was easily hitting 4-700mbps.

I confirmed with the sales rep that they have a MicroCell installed in the store. Every single other phone showed five bars of reception, the pixels were all between three and four bars most of the time.

Just to be sure that my methodology wasn't isolated to this one unit I also tested with their demo Pixel fold, and pixel 7A. Both also had pathetic speeds.

Really annoying that Google can't put a decent modem into this phone, especially at this price.

Imagine paying $1800 for a fold and struggling to hit LTE speeds in the most ideal situation, within 10 feet of a tower

I'm honestly very sad, I had every intention of going home with one of these today.

I have no idea why you got those speeds, specially at the T mo store but something ain't right.

I have a Pixel 8 Pro and I live in the mountains in Las Vegas. In fact, I live at the very edge of buildings before there is nothing but hills and Lake Mead. So cell reception here is terrible until you get down the mountain a ways.

My cell reception is not great using my s23 ultra or Pixel. But I get 36 MBPS in this area on my Pixel 8 Pro. So I would not say that what you observed is even close to normal. 2 GBPS? Really. No way.

Seems like maybe Tensor isn't the only toasty SOC in town. Lol

I am not hating on Apple. I am just trying to put into context that designing your own chips is not always a hit. Sometimes you miss. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get the optimizations down in the real world.

A lot of people on here would say that their iPhone 15 Pro is fine and people are making a big deal out of nothing. I can say the same thing about the Tensor.

I have to say after a little bump during the first setup this is one of the best phone purchases I have ever made.

I love the Pixel 8 Pro! I love the Bay color! I love the way it feels in my hand. I love the screen, the loud speakers, the battery life, the cameras and the watch!

First smart watch for me.

I literally feel like I could rock this Pixel as my only phone. It has to be the most comfortable to hold large phone I have ever had.

The battery life is greatly improved. Thermals are much better. Performance is better. The three things that held the Pixel 7 Pro back from being in the same playing field as the S23 ultra or iPhone but now they have caught up. No, the Pixel 8 Pro doesn't have an equal footing yet, but it is close enough that the hardware is no longer a constraint. Now the hardware on a Pixel is almost as good as the competition and not lagging way behind and making up with software.

Now they have the hardware to push the software experience forward and innovate in AI like no one else.

AI creeps me out but I still can recognize that leveraging AI in your software is going to be a bigger and bigger deal over time. And no one else yet is as good as Google.
