Like I said. Many people will not be seeing it.
I've only noticed it in the last few days and photos outside of viewfinder are generally ok. But still not right to my eye.

Other people on Twitter have also commented on it.
I've just noticed you specifically mentioned the 8 Pro - my photo was taken on the Pixel 8. I had an iPhone 15 Pro on launch day, but returned it because it offered me nothing over my Pixel 7a. The iPhone 15 photos were not as good as those I was getting from both the 6a and the 7a. My Pixel 8 photos are very similar to those taken on both my previous Pixels. Are you saying it is what you see on the phone display you're not happy with? If so, does that really matter? My photography heritage is with rangefinder Leica-style cameras so I've grown up using cameras which are definitely not WYSIWYG and you work with it.

Yes it matters because it’s also affecting the taken photo as well. And it shouldn’t look like I’ve got a zombie filter on the camera view finder, which is exactly what this looks like.
It’s the exact same on the front facing camera too.
I’ve used every mainline Pixel since this phone came out and the view finder has never done this and even the photos have never looked this bad for me from a pixel.

Like I say. Not just me.

Do you think it's a hardware issue causing the problem for some people? Given how Google can create wonderful results from a mediocre sensor I'm sure it will be sorted in due course. Have you been following any posts on pretty much any new phone (including the iPhone) for their first couple of months or so? There are always issues. I suggest you return your Pixel 8 Pro and move on. It's clearly not for you.

Is the last setting of any use ? I don't have it on but you have me thinking..I do notice some pics in the photo gallery brighten up when I first get into pic

First photo at pro 50MP and second at 12MP default which I see brighten up when selecting in photo gallery but similar results

Certainly software for some models

Got no such issues with mine

Just toggled on and off and doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. Will keep an eye on it though and try some different scenarios. 👍🏻

High resolution or Full resolution for you 8 Pro users?
Full resolution and I still get incredible battery life! Finally the Pixel 8 Pro has good battery life. It isn't just okay or almost okay it is actually good this time around.

BUT if you are running low on juice and you need to eek out a couple hours just setting the resolution to high resolution will extend battery life even more!

I'm glad you're taking my advice. Well done you! Now move on.
You might have missed my sarcasm. Oops.

That kind of post might get a load of likes on the iPhone section, which I presume is what you were going for 😬, but we’re not all sheep over here who cry and jump in on someone when they post a negative about a device. We’re pretty good at discussing it like adults and trying to troubleshoot or offer advice. As you can see from the replies my post got from some of the other regular posters vs yours. 🙂.

Also, for some context for you, I’ve been using the main line Pixel devices since… Pixel 1. So if it’s all the same I’m not going to be “moving on” just because I happen to have an issue with my 8 Pro. 👍🏻😘

Hoping so.
Here's a screen grab of the viewfinder from photos I was trying to take just now.

First is pixel. Second is iPhone.

View attachment 2301291
View attachment 2301292

Colour on the pixel is the same whether it’s front or back cameras. So something is going on.
Seems like the iPhone looks yellow or orange. The Pixel photo although not the best focus, looks better to me?

I am not trying to dispute your issue but you are saying that some people may not notice it even if they have the issue and are dismissing your experience but I don't agree.

It is kind of like saying I have a problem that no one else can see because they are too stupid or ignorant to see it. At least that is how it comes off to me. I think most people would be on forums like this one complaining if it was a major issue. It would be on youtube videos and Tic Tock, etc.

I can say that you are in the minority. I am on several forums specific to the Pixel 8 Pro and I have not read many posts about poor camera color rendering. In fact, the most I see is incredible looking pictures but it doesn't mean what you are experiencing isn't real but may be limited to defective hardware or some software optimization that needs to be applied.

Anyway, I hope you are able to find a satisfactory resolution as soon as possible.

The colour the iPhone is showing is exactly as the scene was to my eye. My kitchen lighting is yellow (warm). The Pixel looks like it has the saturation turned right down. Cool if you like that look but I’m used to Pixels giving me pretty true to life images, particularly vs an iPhone. And that isn’t happening currently.

Okay, now you are giving a much better description of your problem than before. It seems like the white balance is off then?? There has to be a setting you can adjust it to your liking? Specially after the shot in post processing you can adjust the white balance??

However, it does suck if it is not just right as you expected from past experience out the box. I bet that will change with an update or two. These are new sensors and Google probably needs to optimize in real world usage which we are the beta testers for... Lol.

Hope you can get it sorted and enjoy the device!!

My home screen. A little bit busier than usual, but I'm using the Pixel pretty much 24/7 now, so it needs to be a little more utilitarian.

Also, I'm using the Soul browser and I love it so much. It's just so good and so customizable. I finally found a good Safari replacement on Android.

And I have my beloved Sync for Reddit back. 😍😘

Welcome back, no one can stay away from us [H]ardcore tech lovers too long :) LOL

Cool homescreen, always liked that wallpaper. Never heard of Soul browser, need to check that out, thanks.

Are you running 4x4 or 4x5 grid?

I think I’d said in a post that the white balance was off? But maybe I didn’t 😅. Definitely seems to be the case, though.

It’s almost like it’s a HDR thing. Originally I thought it was because I had ‘top shot’ on. So I knocked that off but it’s still doing it. The front facing camera is exactly the same.

I’ll wait to see if updates fix it but for now I’ll use my iPhone a bit as my main device and keep the pixel as a secondary so I can see how it plays out. 👍🏻

I flip flop on 5x5 and 4x5 grid too often, can't find the sweet spot yet. Here's my 5x5 grid home screen tonight:
How do you change it? Are you using pixel launcher? I can't find the settings in the home settings when I long press the screen?

I would prefer 5x5.

Just figured it out. It is in the settings on wallpaper on home screen and scroll to the bottom.

Just FYI for people like me. Lol

I decided to deliberately react to your sarcasm as if it were not sarcasm. Is there even a word for that? You're the one who has been moaning about the Pixel 8 Pro. Like you I have used Pixels since the Pixel 1 and before that, the Nexus 5 and a couple of other Nexus devices. I have also used many Samsung phones and other Android and Windows phones, and most of the iPhones. I find many phones over-process photos and that processing can, and will be, tweaked. I am absolutely agnostic about phones and mobile operating systems - although I can say my favourite phone OS was Windows Phone.

What I have seen with every release is that somebody finds something they don't like about their new phone and broadcasts it, gathering evidence by demonstrating that others have a similar experience. Every phone is a compromise and anyone can find something to moan about. No phone is perfect. As you very well know, here in the UK we can return a new device very easily so if you're not happy return it, if you think the issue will be resolved, keep it. It's really simple. Take it up with Google rather than raining on our parade. Your choice of the 'we' pronoun is an attempt to align yourself with everyone else in this forum and is a classic way of putting down a detractor and pushing them to the periphery.

What you are effectively saying is you are allowed to moan about your Pixel, but I am not allowed to moan back. Neither you nor I call the shots here and I am perfectly entitled to suggest you return the device you have a problem with.

I won't be commenting further on this issue. Both you and I have made our points. You're not happy with your Pixel, I am.

I’m not reading all that sorry pal. Off to the ignore list for you 😁
