I just got the ITskins hybrid R clear.

If you want a clear case this is the absolute best I have found.

It has very raised lip around the screen which gets even bigger around the corners. Also has a lip for the camera bump.

Basically this is the toughest thing clear case that I have ever used.

I used my Google credit and payed $1.15 for it. It is about $31 with tax. I think for the quality and attention to detail it is a great case. Time will tell if it yellows quickly. It will obviously yellow but how much and how quickly are the biggest points.

And if you want the best budget option for a clear case the Rinke Fusion case is awesome for the cost.

Anyone have any tips on how to get the material you icons themed? Tried using pinned shortcuts but it doesn't seem to work 🥹
Currently using shortcut maker, but it's annoying the shortcut icon is there.

So how are people finding the pixel 8 pro? I regret selling my p7p and am thinking hard of switching back from my s23 plus but I'm worried about the battery life..

I just downloaded shortcut maker bc I remember using it before and getting the icon not to show the arrow...

If you long press on the icon after it's on the home screen you can disable the badge

I find the battery to be much better than the P7P I think the combination of how Google implemented screen power management and Android 14 has helped..

well...i returned my P8P yesterday. Not going to say anything negative about the phone. It is an awesome device.
In the end my personal preference was the S23U and 15 PM combo.
I hope everyone enjoys their Pixels and look forward to reading everyone's experiences with the phone!

A lovely photo, nice colours, but I am very concerned at the over-sharpening I see in photos from many phones these days. It's very apparent in the leaves and branches of trees. My iPhone 15 Pro exhibited the same problem, as does my Pixel 7a and 8. To my eyes the 6a wasn't as bad.

I'm too amateur with pics haha usually if it's pleasing to my eyes I'm happy

With the various different cases I bought for my 8 Pro, I'm playing around switching them on and off. Certain cases like the Otterbox make the already large phone feel stupidly big.

My family laughs at these big Pro sized phones, saying they're just ridiculously large, even family and friends that use iPhone's, almost none of them use the Max size, most have the regular size Pro.

I might have to switch my SIM card to the smaller Pixel 8 and give it a good test run.

I know how this story ends… Lol. Come on Tig, you are a big phone, pro guy. I’d bet the house on it! (Except I don’t want to give up my good interest rate)

LOL I hear ya.

I do think the 6.2" Pixel 8 is a bit small, but the 6.7" Pixel 8 Pro a bit too large.

I've always liked the 6.5" or so sized smartphone.

I think a size in-between the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro would be perfect.

Haha ..I'm the opposite..it's the smallest 6.7 phone that I've owned .. especially with the thin cases .

I agree that 6.5" seems to be the sweet spot but I generally like as big a screen I can get on a smartphone.

I have been using 5 g around Las Vegas on AT&T network. I am getting faster connectivity in the same spots than my s23 ultra? I don't get it? Now the s23 ultra is generally the best at reception and throughput. But I am noticing times where the Pixel is as good or in this case better.

I honestly didn't expect that. I still don't think the Samsung modem is as good as the QC modem but this iteration seems much improved over the 7 Pro plus it doesn't have the same heat and battery drain.

Bluetooth connection on my 8 Pro is night and day better than the 7 Pro's.

My car's wireless Android Auto would almost never connect to my 7 Pro unless I did a restart of the phone while in the car, then 80% it would finally connect. Or I'd have to go into the cars settings in the Infotainment system, and select the 7 Pro and then select Android Auto and then wait for it to connect, and even after that it would MAYBE connect.

The Pixel 8 Pro it connects 100% of the time wirelessly, no reboot or any special settings needed. It just works.

I just got the official Google silicone case yesterday, the Bay color. It's very pretty and a neat looking case, ( even my Wife commented how good it looked ) but it's a slippery almost slimy feeling case, it has a very nice comfortable feel in the hand, but feels like it could slide away, and attracts lint like fly paper and my Labrador's black hair.

Surprised the Mous case actually has a better feel, slightly more grip.

Of all the cases I bought, the $14 Ringke clear matte case has the best grip, feels solid in the hand, while also almost sticking to your palm.

I also got 2 other clear cases, the official Google clear case, that thing sucks, very stiff and slick feeling. And the Otterbox clear case from WorstBuy, they thing is a beast and it's supposedly the thinner Otterbox case, bit it feels huge and again super stiff / rigid, very difficult to remove off the phone, and it doesn't have the best grip, it's actually almost so hard it's slick.

To wrap up, I like the clear matte Ringke case #1, and the super thin Mous case #2.

First initial impressions, straight off the bat, my 8 Pro feels really premium, the Obsidian with the matte back & dark matte rails & rear camera look very classy. Personally, I prefer the overall look to the 15 PM, despite the titanium of the iPhone. Rounded corners make it so easy to hold, flat screen is better than curved. The Pixel just looks more unique and stands out but in a good way. I didn't even apply a skin to the camera bar I bought as I love the dark matte look in the rear so much! Lol

Secondly, absolutely loving the first class natural photo quality, really clear, crisp and the photos capture exactly like the subject I'm taking. Pure Pixel photography here. I've only used out the box settings so far, actually didn't even look at the camera settings yet. Photos are, I reckon, better than my 15 PM in daylight. Will post some Autumn shots I took.

Thirdly, the video quality is a serious step forward for Google this year, particularly 4K. Amazing videos. For me, I think the iPhone is a little better with video stabilisation, but I'm gobsmacked at how close the quality of 8 Pro videos are to the iPhone. Will be doing more detailed tests of this. Google can't roll out their new video enhancement features soon enough for me!

Fourth, the official Google cases are great. When on, the cover raised on the rear camera visor / bar becomes a natural place to put your finger making the balance of the 8 Pro perfectly balanced for me to hold. Grippy but I would have preferred even grippier, they do feel excellent in the hand but a little slippery as @Tig Bitties mentioned. @UltraInstinct I will take some photos of Obsidian in the Bay case.

Fifth, the Whitestone Dome tempered glass screen protector was something of a revelation. I applied it on using the Whitestone screen tool after taking my 8 Pro fresh out the box. Followed their application method and it was an easy, perfect alignment. Absolutely zero air bubbles very smooth to use. A small gap round the edges which may become dust magnet areas but the official Google silicone case is a breeze to take on and off. My new favourite screen protector!

Yet to try any of the main or technical features yet but a massive positive first impression. This year, Google have finally smashed this one out the ball park with the 8 Pro.
