This...it actually feels small compared to my S23U. It's by far the best feeling, easiest to hold/use big phone I've had.
I agree with this. I think it's the width too. It isn't slim by any means, but I think the thin profile with the less wide display vs other flagships make it feel really nice in the hand. The 7 Pro was the same IMO.
The flat screen is just the 🍒 on top 👌🏼

Curious those of you with the smaller Pixel 8, how do you like it overall?
Just stop looking to the other side of the fence and be happy with your 8 Pro 😆. I don't think you will find it worth it to lose the features, extra RAM, battery, telephoto lens, etc

I love it. I tried a Pixel 7 Pro, having been used to the iPhone Max series. The iPhone was manageable in a way the Pixel 7 Pro wasn't. In my pocket the iPhone was always comfortable, the 7 Pro dug into me when I sat down. I was always aware of it. I know the 8 Pro has more rounded corners but I still feel it's too large. The Pixel 8 is a lovely size. It sits in my hand or pocket really well and is only slightly larger than the iPhone 15 Pro (which I owned briefly before returning). The Pixel 8 display is hugely better than that of the Pixel 7 - it has no rainbow effect when viewed off-axis and is very bright and easily viewable outdoors in sunshine. I don't feel I am missing anything I'd need from the 8 Pro. I have been taking photographs for over 5 decades and on cameras have always preferred a prime wide-angle lens rather than a telephoto, and especially rather than a zoom. I find it more creative for me to move around rather than zooming in.

The Pixel 8 battery is good. My 7a would be at around 14% at bedtime where the Pixel 8 is showing around 45% or more.

I like the shiny glass back and the matte visor. I have the Hazel Pixel 8 and absolutely love the colour and how it looks. Paired with Nova launcher the Pixel 8 is an absolute blinder. It feels just as premium as the iPhone 15 Pro and the photos are better.

No update for me, what's it look like?
WA_NEW_INTERFACE_CHAT_LIST_ANDROID_IOS.png

Not the best image of it as doesn't include any real chats. This is just pulled from a website.
But it's much cleaner than the previous version.
Also just realized Android is the left, ios is right.
Android task bar also looks better at the bottom vs that ios screen grab IMO.

I like it.
I never buy the bigger phones as I like the 6.0 to 6.3 " range. The SS 23 U to me is huge. Wouldn't really want that in my pocket.

The P8 is slightly smaller than the P7 and when I had both, I liked the slightly wider width of the P7 better. It was very slight but noticable.

It may have been because of the cases I have as well. The Crave case in the P8 has a bit taller lip on the front than the Google case I had on the P7.

I genuinely don’t understand why Android developers refuse to properly incorporate a translucent navigation bar. It’s just laziness at this point. Do your job right.

If you are debating between the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro I think if value is most important then the 8 is the winner. You are getting a very similar experience with either phone.

What I prefer in the 8 Pro is the telephoto lense. I take a lot of zoom pictures and 5x is important to me. The pro model camera software is important to me.The extra ram should help the Pixel run better years from now. I like the Bay color. Not gonna lie, the color was part of the choice. I was tired of buying a phone in a color I just didn't like. I understood that I use a case but I still like a nice color choice. Finally I prefer the higher pixel count on the 8 Pro and brighter screen.

Is all of what I said worth the extra $300? That is something each person has to decide. For me, with the pre order getting the Pixel watch 2 also influenced my decision. I have Galaxy buds Pro 2 and airpod pro so I didn't have any need for earbuds.

One of the things that is very cool about the Pixel watch 2 and Apple watch is the ability to take a group photo and use the watch to take the photo. So I can set up my phone on a stand and be in the group shot using the watch. I could only do that with the s23 ultra and the s pen.

So with all the features of the Pro and using it with the watch 2 has been a great experience and worth the extra cost and will tide me over until the Pixel 10 at least.

Now my 5a has had the location icon on all the live long day. My 3a a while back until I shut down location services on it. My P8P also until I made it ask and now the 5a? Got to be something going on in the backend or something...

Anyway, a little case window shopping and most are just wft... 😣 On a last ditch since my sis is looking for one for her z 5 fold Samsung flipper, I came across this...

Nothing fancy and I'm sure it'll be grippy and probably pocket snagging but if the device is just a paperweight on my table maybe it'll slide around less 🤔🙃

So far my Pixel 8 Pro has been a positive experience, but there are a few negatives. And these are my own personal experiences, I know everyone's milage may vary.

1) Signal is indeed worse that the S23U and the iPhone 14PM. Both cellular and WiFi signals are worse.
2) Twice now my custom notifications and ringtones randomly deleted themselves in the phone storage and I had to redownload them.
3) Phone gets very warm when using wireless Android Auto, plus AA uses a lot of battery.

Some other random stuff.

I lowered my screen res from Full res down to High res to see if the battery improved any. So far I don't really think I am seeing any battery savings with the lower resolution.

As for the Pixel Watch 2. So far compared to my Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, the pixel watch is really too small. It's the size of most women's smart watches, not really an ideal size for a man. It's nice, but overall I think the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is a much better smart watch.

Yeah, I agree, finding the P8;Pro one of the best balanced phones I've ever owned. Weight is superb, especially one-handed and my hands are only medium sized. The official Google silicone case allows the index finger to fall into a natural position resting just below the camera bar. Flat screen is exactly what the Pixel needed.

In comparison, yes, my iPhone 15 PM does feel comfortable to hold but the extra weight makes a key difference here. My previous S23 Ultra felt unwieldy in the hand due to the height & width combined, extra weight and shaper edges that dug into the hand after long periods of use. My Z Fold 4 was a brick in comparison to the P8 Pro but that's a different beast!

@UltraInstinct & anyone else interested, few pics of my Obsidian P8 Pro in the official Bay silicone case. In some lights, the dark silver camera lens colour looks black. I love the look. Official Coral case to try next, I'm also buying the official Charcoal case.
