Got my 9 today and sadly it just aint it.
You might want to try a 9 Pro. But you said that had the same issue so I'll recommend something different, install Graphene OS and if it's software it might go away. Graphene neither voids warranty nor weakens your device's security, and it runs the same Google apps. It does have one drawback which is Google Pay cannot be used.

I am surprised though that the issue remains on the 9 Pro. I would think it's hardware related. The 9 still uses a non-LTPO panel which is just a terrible cost-saving measure at the $800 launch price and for the same reason (and others) I always recommend against the iPhone 15 as well.

A non-LTPO panel was fine for the Pixel 8 as it was available for around 500 bucks with various retailer promotions (I was able to get the price down further with Best Buy's trade in with a ridiculously old phone that I couldn't have sold for any amount if I tried). But at $800 that display doesn't fly.

This issue was also present in the Pixel 7 on launch, which was eventually fixed with Android 14.
The P7 is as bad now as it ever was, which is to say, very bad. It stutters like crazy even after a factory reset and I don't think it's because of the 60Hz as even an old iPhone SE doesn't stutter on 60Hz. It might be related to the garbage panel though, if you had the P7 you'll know that from even just a slight angle you'll see rainbow colors. I don't know how but Google really managed to make the display worse than that of a P4/P5.

Samsung Internet is also good and has built-in options for ad blocking. And can relocate the address bar to the bottom.

(Ah - I see that this has already been suggested.)
Samsung Internet is a great browser, but it is sadly gimped on non-Samsung phones.

I am using Soul for now.

Have you tried entering "dns.adguard.com" for private DNS within network settings? It completely blocks ads on a systemwide level. Google feed is actually tolerable without 20 popups on every article.

I've never tried Soul, will check it out.

Oh yeah the DNS settings on network is a must on any Android phone.

Soul Browser is a huge surprise to me, this is really good after you tweak it and get it setup.

Only option I can't find is how to get the web address at the bottom? And how to stop Autoplay media on sites like Facebook, etc... ???

I have previously, but it doesn't play well with my VPN.

You can make the address bar go on the bottom under Layout, I believe. Just select the address bar and select "Down," and delete or move down everything else that is on top.

Thanks, I also just figured this out! Really nice browser so far, I may switch to this one as the default after some more time playing with it 👍.

I decided instead of driving to the Google store I just went by Best buy and got the black. I only got $625 trade-in but made up some difference with 5% cash back and additional $25 this weekend for purchases $250+ and got my $200 BB gift card

Chrome is truly unusable trash on Android. No extensions, no bottom navigation (unlike the iOS version), websites riddled with ads, no transparent navigation bar, and et cetera. It's awful. I just don't understand Google's laziness. Safari on iOS is an amazing browser in comparison.

I'm using the Soul browser instead, especially since I can browse full-screen with no distractions. I might switch back to Firefox since I'm not sure how private and safe Soul is.
Try Samsung’s browser if you haven’t already—very ‘Safari like’, has support for extensions, can bring over bookmarks from Chrome desktop using a Chrome extension.

Is HDR playback on apps like YouTube not supported? My Galaxy supports it automatically, I don't need to adjust anything?

*Edit- nevermind, it's just a brightness slider within the app when in full screen.
