OnePlus Fold and Fold5 said hello and will see you in a few weeks. Lol. Both of them will have Snap 2 so you know the battery life is about to be sickening. The battery life on my OnePlus 11 is insane and that charging...wow. I'm a tad bit spoiled at how quick it charges.
I do wonder what if one plus is about to nail this when it comes to battery. What’s snap 2?

And it begins...don't get anything trapped because your screen would end up like this...I just knew this would be a problem with the way Google placed the screen protector on the device. Users are starting to report this is happening to their Fold.
That phone looks like it was dragged through the concrete oh my God not a good way to start off for this person

More like the Google Pixel Old. #dadjoke.

It was said earlier, I’d get the warranty to be safe and then you can enjoy it in peace. Anxious to hear everyone’s thoughts.
Yes I agree definitely get the warranty and in my case I would probably just do a monthly to make it easier.. I checked yesterday and I have till July 13th to purchase it.. they also are sending me the trade-in kit but I'm not planning on doing anything until I have used and tested the phone for a good 10 days...

I went ahead and purchased the monthly protection. No way I'd ever get two year protection because I don't think a phone has ever made it more than a year in my possession. If I decide to return the Fold, it can be cancelled at any time. Better safe than sorry with this one.

If the Oneplus 11 is any indication, OnePlus will nail the battery life on their Fold. Plus, the super fast charging is a huge plus.

Yes that is my exact thinking ... I'd rather pay as I go and not worry about it ...

Snap Gen 2 is a killer ...adding to your comments if one wishes to charge normally they can ....so it's a win win IMO

Havent seen anyone address that yet. I know it is possible to use dual screen with both the outer and inner screens on simultaneously for google translate but I haven't seen any other instances where both screens are on. Guess we will know in a couple days.

Think I found it here around the 2 min mark

Wait, that makes it sound it like a yes??

Edit: we didn't see his point of view, so unclear if his screen was on or off

Yup think so my friend
Only thing was we didn't see his point of view, so unclear if his screen was on or off. So I wonder if he did it that way to let the person being photographed direct themselves, but maybe he couldn't see anything. Gonna have to test this one. Hopefully mine gets here today lol

I should have mine this evening....I was hoping for earlier delivery but UPS is usually late in my area ....if it was FedEx I'd be sitting with it midday haha ...no complaints

Darn. My lack of patience is going to cause me to make a poor decision. Get the PF in 2 weeks or wait 8 weeks for the One Plus which I strongly suspect will be a better device TBH although the form factor is closer to the Z Fold. Decisions, decisions.

Haha tough decisions...being patient is the way but somehow we don't follow that around these parts

Lol. Id love to have tried out the Pixel Fold but even if I order it now, the estimate ship time is August 10th and September 8th. At that point, I may as well wait to see what Samsung and OnePlus offers.

Too bad Best Buy or Amazon doesn't have any I could tried for 14 days. If Google wouldn't have f up their launch, I'd gotten one.

I have a weird suspicion that after the Google Store "for a limited time, get a Pixel Watch on us when you buy Pixel Fold" ends on July 2nd, Google is going to undercut Samsung by dropping the price of the Fold to $1,449.00. Which is how much it cost without the watch included. They will wait patiently until the Fold5 is released, though.

It appears OnePlus is going with a Samsung form factor. That kind of kills it for me. I wonder why they didn't go with the Oppo form factor? I'm seeing conflicting info on launch. Late Q3 versus "August". Maybe an August marketing launch with a September release. I do expect it will have better battery life than the Fold but not sure why I'd pick the OnePlus over the Sammy if the form factor is similar and presumably Samsung will do it's usual trade in fuzzy math to bring the real cost down to closer to 1k. I'm really torn on the Pixel. My gut tells me it's going to be a let down but I really want to try it even though I'm fairly certain I'd return it. I've owned all 4 Galaxy Folds and eventually went back to the iphone within a few months. Not sure why I think the Pixel Fold will be any different.

Latest update on the OnePlus Fold via Onleaks this morning.

The OnePlus Fold is said to come with a 7.8-inch 2K AMOLED display on the inside and a 6.3-inch AMOLED display on the outside. Both the displays are said to support 120Hz refresh rates, though we presume on our own that there may be differences in their minimum refresh rates as the LTPO tech could differ.

On the inside, the OnePlus Fold could pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC alongside 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The report suggests a 4,800mAh battery on board, with 67W fast charging. There are no mentions of wireless charging, though we cannot rule out the feature until the phone launches.

For its camera setup, the OnePlus Fold could feature a 48MP primary sensor, a 48MP ultrawide sensor, and a 64MP telephoto camera sensor. The cover screen is said to feature a 32MP selfie camera, while there could be a 20MP selfie camera above the inner display too.

...........

Release Date will be around August 15th.

Sounds like hardware build quality is actually improved from regular Pixels. That’s a welcome surprise. But every tech site review I’m reading says it definitely feels like a first gen device which is expected.

It feels like Google is taking a different software approach than Samsung. Where Samsung added their own software features to optimize apps, Google aren’t adding anything and instead hope they sell enough of the Fold and Pixel tablet to get devs to optimize their apps. The latter is definitely the better move in the long run if it works, but it forces early adopters to deal with the growing pains which sucks. And if devs don’t follow suit, Fold users will be stuck with a pretty bad experience.

I’ll be interested to hear what many of you that bought the Fold and were previous Samsung Fold users think of the inner screen. I’m reading lots of reviews saying the inner screen is a big disappointment. That the blacks don’t look good, the crease is more pronounced than other foldables, the coating layer doesn’t feel as good, etc.

I just hope Google stick with the Fold design and improve it year over year. By gen 3 it could be pretty damn good.
