I bought a Spigen tempered glass ez fit a screen protector. I'm putting it on as soon as I take phone off the box. My phone gets here today, I'll let you know how it goes. But I'm putting screen protector+case the instant I get my phone

That's the one I'd go for; have that fitted to my IP 14PM and AWU and they work superbly...

Just hope they're case friendly for the Pixel Fold!

Yep I agree on the apps not being optimized being a pain. Luckily I use the front screen about 70-80% of the time. It's a non issue for me on most apps like social media, etc as they are perfectly fine on the outer display. Where the inner display is most beneficial for me is consuming media and productivity. Really helps me when working with construction drawings, emails, etc. I even remote into my work PC. Couldn't care less how social media looks but it would be nice to see the apps fixed. The one thing I am already missing is the s-pen but it's a fair trade off for the much better outer display.

I think we will see developers get on board now that Google has made the commitment to foldables. That alone makes this potentia very important device for the future of foldables.
I just wouldn't count on Instagram. It still looks awful on iPads too.

At least Twitter fits in full screen mode when you rotate the phone lol. And I stayed up last night and watch the perfect game!

I see Google has messed up this launch like so many other times. No product to buy and auto cancelling of pre-orders. They just can’t do hardware very well. Very few have apparently been shipped and we are already seeing screen issues…lol. Google FTW. I hope those of you that spend $1800 on this have good luck with the device because Google support is horrible.
I've seen a few orders cancelled but isolated incidents just like the screen. Every foldable launch whether Samsung, Google or whoever has isolated incidents posted of defective or broken screens. Many of them from first time foldable users that don't follow the care instructions. It's not like a slab phone, and while not delicate, it still has to be handled with reasonable care. I've had all 4 of the Z Folds and a Flip and now the Pixel Fold. Never an issue with a foldable yet on every Samsung Fold release people are all over reddit, facebook groups, twitter, etc. complaining about screen issues. This is not unique to Google. As for inventory, it is still in the preorder period while preorders have now also opened up for the carriers. This also is not unique to Google. Preorders from carriers are delivering around July 18 or sooner while the 256GB Pixel Fold Obsidian from Google is now out to early August. Ever preordered an iPhone before? Better do it on the first day or you are out several weeks or searching stores for inventory after launch. The only manner in which they screwed up is announcing the device so far ahead of preorders actually shipping.

I'm not saying Google is perfect by any means but I don't think it's near as much of a cluster as you stated or what iTheVerge is reporting. But in fairness all of the big 3 here in the US could stand to improve their preorder process and inventory availability at launch. I'll give Google a pass on this because they probably did not mass manufacture this device without knowing what their demand would be, which would make the long period between announcement and shipping somewhat understandable. Gives them time to ramp up their inventory after the initial preorders get entered and fulfilled.

First impressions. I love it. I needed help to set it up at the shop but everyone was so kind. I am sure I will have some problems but so be them. I have a couple of months to live and am really happy that I got to try it to, and so is my wife.
Glad you received your fold Dave. Hang in there buddy and keep fighting the good fight and enjoy the hell out of every single day as much as you can.

I gotta say I do have a bit of envy as this looks like a fun device. Love my S23 Ultra though and it's just so hard to justify moving away from that.
It is definitely a fun and interesting device. Also, it's a damn beautiful piece of hardware. NOW, I won't even begin to say I'd give up my S23U for it. I still absolutely love it and it will not be going anywhere. Looks like my 14 PM will be relegated to drawer status as long as I can get BlueBubbles up and running on the Fold.

Has anyone fitted a front screen protector; tempered glass etc?

I'm seriously considering the Pixel Fold; it's a smaller front screen, but wider which suits me best due to shovel like hands... But I cannot run a phone without a screen protector as my fingers are rough, with the use of chalk in training, and I cannot stand marked screens!

I'm very tempted to go for an early upgrade on my phone contract with the Pixel Fold (when back in stock); the Z Fold 5 may tempt me too, but so far, the Pixel is leading the pack...

I'll be selling my IP 14PM and AWU as in all honesty, the latter isn't getting used that much and I want to get back to Android as my daily driver
If you went back to the iPhone from your S23U, I'm afraid you might do the same after the Pixel Fold. Not that the Pixel Fold is bad, it's been great for me so far. I'm not saying don't try it out, I just wouldn't sell the iPhone and watch till you give it a full run.

I put on the Spigen Glas TR Ez Fit last night. Very easy to put on, great fit, great clarity. I've used this one on many devices and always been happy.

It's very case friendly. I have it on with the Spigen Slim Armor Pro and there's plenty of clearance for the case to snap over without coming in contact with the screen protector.

It's literally the best phone Google has ever designed LOL.

I haven't really ever liked any of the pixel designs up to this point. I wonder if they poached an Apple designer or maybe bribed Jonny Ive

Google came a long way with design on the 7 Pro and now this one. It does make one wonder if ole Jony got bored and decided to consult with Google on these last couple devices lol. The hardware is nearly perfect except the Tensor chip, which isn't bad but lags considerably behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. I know the Tensor chip originally allowed Google to enhance the AI abilities of the Pixel line, but now that Qualcomm has pretty much matched those capabilities, I don't understand the decision to continue with the Tensor chips other than perhaps cost savings. The performance, battery efficiency, and modem are better with the SD.

Agreed. This phone would basically have been perfect if Google had used the SD 8 Gen 2. One could only dream I suppose.

TBH I'm using my Pixel 4XL more than anything currently; the iPhones a bit redundant, I've got my bog standard iPad for iTunes/Apple music AirPlay & remote duties etc and I'm either on my M1 Mac Mini or M2 MBA

I love the iPhone for it's capabilities; but I still prefer Android as my main driver; just Samsung devices at this moment, leave me a bit cold...

The P7P doesn't do it for me either

I'm looking for that 'wow' Android device and the Pixel Fold is ticking those boxes currently...

If I have 2 split apps that I use a lot. And want to be able to quickly access them whenever, is there a way to save said split app?

Took a swing at a preorder for more than half off. I’m guessing I can break even and sell if it doesn’t work out. It’s more a phone for my 4th line that’s basically free. So iPhone 14pm remains main.

But for first time I got one foot out the door.

The major con would be constant swapping due to poor hardware. Haven’t had that since palm pre. And relying on Verizon to do so. But this is more hobby to see foldables and hopefully won’t bite me much cost wise.

Apparently Verizon was happy to take my cracked screen iPhone 7 laying in a drawer to get the half off.

Nice was this with a carrier?
