I'm back on Nova launcher though I wish I could set up separate folded screens ..

Scrolling dock and gestures are a win...

Me, being the moron I am, decided to take the dog for a walk this morning before it got too hot.
Took her to a fielded area for a big run which I have to drive to as it's in the next town.

Decided not to put the case on my phone as it makes getting it out of my pocket a pain and I often snap photos of her on walks.

Gets home, opens my car door and steps out. What goes flying out my pocket and skidding onto gravelly pavement? You guessed it.

FML.

Oh boy I don't want to see how much damage?

I think I still have a couple of months left, I have bought a music system (Rega Planner). and this will keep me entertained, looking forward to seeing the Galaxy fold 5 ( please excuse my designations) it is difficult trying to remember atm but, I a sure everyone knows what I mean, Chemotherapy will certainly put me on trial but I am enjoying the ride. Please forgive me when I get things wrong.
Never wrong. Always remembered and in our thoughts.

Never wrong. Always remembered and in our thoughts.
We must focus on the important things in life. Family, relationships, integrity, honesty and doing the best we can. Most of us here have problems of some sort but are very fortunate to be able to house ourselves, eat well and spend some funds on what are essentially over priced luxury goods. What phone we have etc. mean bugger all in the big picture. I hope Dave is at peace and remembered as a good fellow.

Well said. I lost my mom to cancer and the effects of chemo a week ago yesterday (that's why I haven't really been on for the past several days). I didn't expect her to go downhill that quickly and I'm sure Dave's family did not either. Cherish the moments we have with those we love. I know it's cliche but we never know when today might be our or their last day. Prayers for peace and comfort for Dave's family.

Ok just to clarify, we/I don't know what has happened to Dave. Clearly he hasn't posted in a long time and some of us are worried for him and doing some checking around. There was some indefinite information I was attempting to clarify and fortunately it didn't point to definitively bad news about our Dave. In private discussions it was determined I should post something to remind everyone to keep Dave and his loved ones in our thoughts and good wishes. He last logged in on July 19 and I hope if he happens to log on again that he knows he's thought of and missed and cherished. It's my sincere hope he's doing well in his fight against cancer. But he did his best to prepare us for the knowledge he had at the time that this might not be so.

I’m nearly 3 weeks in now with the Fold, and I really don’t know if this is the phone for me.
Yesterday, I put my sim back into my iPhone 14 to see if it would make me ‘miss’ the Fold or see me running back to it after using a ’normal’ phone again.

Well, I certainly didn’t want to go running back to the Fold, but I don’t think it helps that the slab phone I went back to was a different OS. If it was back to a normal Pixel, maybe I’d have felt different.

I do find there to be niggles with the Fold (stuff I’ve covered in previous posts) which make using the phone a bit frustrating at times.
The app situation is the worst thing for me.
I’ve also noticed that the phone is running a bit hot at times which I wasn’t finding with my 7 Pro despite the same chipset.

Another thing I find a bit annoying is the sheer weight of it. When it’s in my pocket I just find it a little cumbersome at times (hence the bloody thing slipping out of my pocket and crashing to the ground…), and when I need to just do something quick on it, it often feels like a burden.
My iPhone 14 (non pro) is really light and I have to say I’ve welcomed the lighter weight and slim profile since I switched back to it.

Would I say I miss the Fold’s inner screen (it’s biggest selling point)?
I don’t think I do. I think if anything, it’s just the general Pixel experience I miss. Aside from music playback, which is infinitely better on an Apple device, (and Samsung, for that matter), with Google not supporting Dolby Atmos for music playback. Something I find pretty baffling.

It's all about personal use and preference most definitely...I can never use an iPhone as my main phone daily ...I carry the Fold in a zippered pouch not a big one but one that fits the phone size ..that is mainly when I'm wearing shorts and non evening situations..only times I pocket my phones are out of dinner or drinks ...and now with the Flip 5 I will take it for those moments ...

I could happily use iOS or Android (Pixel) to be honest. I like both but I do favour the Pixel experience if I had to choose one and one only.

I think I’m going to sell my Fold. Even more annoying now I’ve damaged it slightly, but I should still get more back than what I’ve paid for it and the way I see it, there’s £130 on my Google store credit ready to go towards the Pixel 8 / Pro come October. 😜

Maybe I will feel different if I get the larger iPhone so we shall see if this is the year I jump up ...good luck with selling I'm sure you can at least recoup the investment...and P8P is right around the corner

Thanks.
I think what it ultimately comes down to, is that I’m not a ‘folder’.
I like them but I don’t feel like I’m getting a richer experience using one.

Even if the app situation didn’t exist, and everything was optimised as it should be, I don’t think I’d stick with it.

I just don’t think I’m the target user, but I can see how it’s a great fit for those who are.

I think you hit it right on the head… because I know plenty of people that tried the foldable and after using them for a bit just didn’t see an advantage for them, and some peeps are more of slab users ..totally okay to experience it and see what’s best for your daily ..

I do not have either but the Flip appeals to me more for its pocket ability size wise but it may be heavy. I have not picked one up.

Oh yes a good phone for pockets and easy daily driver …I’d like to see it a bit wider especially when flipped open but we can always nitpick hehe

I wonder if Linus switched to the Pixel Fold... claimed initially that he was avoiding due to heating issues. He's been rocking the Fold 3 since launch..
