Sounds like my MBP missed the plane to Alaska - I wonder how long its going to sit there.....
anyone else stuck here?

Speaking of maxing out the ram, anyone know if they'll support 4GB? (2 2GB sticks)..

Would be hulluh expensive, but... :D

It might support 4GB of physical ram installed, but the chipset only allows 3.2GB of the ram to be used. You might get the dual channel ram benifit, but with a separate GPU the bus may not be wide enough to care about that either.

As far as i am aware the chipset will only support 3GB max - you'll have to wait until Santa Rosa if you want load up with 4GB.

I got mine yesterday. The only thing I'm bummed about is it has two dead pixels, one in the upper left, and one in the bottom left. I guess it could be worse.

What are you using to test for dead pixels? Eyes or a software package to isolate and manage images that make the dead/stuck pixels more visible?

This may work...

I found out I have no dead pixels on my 24" Dell LCD - - - - - I really really really hope my MBP is dead pixel free.
I read that sometimes they can be "massaged" back to life.

Wow- - so what can you do about the dead pixels? Anything at all?
Yikes... does this happen often?

I'm not sure how often it happens.

Does anyone know how many dead pixels you normally need for Apple to care?

Also, what do you do about the data on your hard drive if they exchange it? I already spent 8 hrs setting up software and Windows XP on my MacBook Pro.

Got mine this morning. I definitely have some work to do, though.... trying to figure out just how much crap I need to copy from the PB 12" before I no longer notice that I don't have stuff.
- VLC
- Flip4Mac
- FF (done)
- Emulated games (done) :D

Who knows what else.... ?

Well there are a few of them keeping each other company...:(

oh crap. seriously?
I called fedex and the guy said it would take off tomorrow morning.... but who knows.
I, of course, have email alerts and widgets set up to track this thing... but its been sitting there all day...
Oh wait. Mine just landed in Alaska a few minutes ago.
But mine was shipped a day before yours.
So your MBP should make it to Alaska sometime tomorrow. :)

Find something else wrong with it, like a scratch, call Apple and ask for a replacement.

Er, you have got a backup drive/device, haven't you?!

mmmm.... Indeed... It is the BEST possible configuration (IMHO of course). Having owned a 12" pb and a 17" pb and not really being happy with either because they were too small and too big respectively, I am quite excited to finally get the perfect size. I'm also WAY stoked on the glossy screen and the 160 PMR hard drive. Thanks to everyone up here for revealing that... I would never have known. I think that's an essential upgrade for anyone who can fork out the extra $100/$90ed. The performance increase is well worth it.

btw... iBorg... what printer did you get? I got the all-in-one HP with the scanner and stuff. I basically figured it would be nicer to have a scanner as well as 1200x2400dpi printing rather than just having exceptional photo quality (the canon printer).

I already have a couple of scanners, and multiple printers, but, since it's free, I got the $100 Canon Pixma iP6220D, which got good reviews for an inexpensive photo printer. I was tempted to go for one of the $300+ printers, but decided to just go for the freebie!

We're gonna love the 160GB HD, AND the glossy screen! :D

Mine just arrived in Anchorage at 11:50am today, and is scheduled to arrive here in the Twin Cities on 11/2 - can' wait!

There were two flights from Shanghai to Anchorage today according to the Flight Tracker widget. One landed at 11:35 AM and the other at 12:22 PM local time in AK. (AK is 4 hours behind Eastern time)

They should probably leave AK and head to Indianapolis very soon now.

160GB drive model?

I just got my 15"/2.33ghz/2gb/160gb mbp, which was delivered to me this morning. I use macs for my multimedia classes at school, but this is the first one I've owned. I switched from a thinkpad t42 and I'm very happy. I connected an eyetv hybrid earlier and watched some hdtv on it :)

Which make/model is the 160GB drive in yours? Apple menu > About This Mac > More Info > Serial-ATA. Please post a screenshot if possible, or if not just the model number will do.

still waiting to ship

I ordered my stock 17" c2d MBP last Tuesday around 10am PDT... Still see an estimated ship date of Nov 7 :(

This thursday is the 7th business day after ordering, hopefully it'll ship this week. Has anyone else who ordered on the first day of availability seen their macbook's ship yet?

I'm eager to ditch this crappy Dell D610 work gave me. I'm sure Apple would appreciate it if I didn't hit the order status page 12 times a day, but, oh well :)
