Fujitsu MHW2120BH is Linear Hitachi HTS541612J9SA00 Is Super-Perpendicular

I bought mine at the Apple store in Wellington, FL and it has a Hitachi PMR 120gb HDD
I would think your resale value will be at least $100 more than one with the old Fujitsu linear tech in it. I know I would be an unhappy camper if I had a Fujitsu inside.

Super-Perpendicular sounds so much sexier. :p

I agree, I was kicking myself a bit for not just ordering a 160GB thinking the store would be faster (which turns out I was wrong...still no 2.33 glossies in Orlando, should've lived in Wellington it seems:mad: ) but if the 120's are PMR I'd be just as happy. Someone mentioned Apple letting him boot the new comp up to make sure it worked before walking out the store...think they'd let you boot it up to check HD model first?:)

Writing from a C2D MacBook Pro

One thing to note is Apple seems to have decided not to include S-Video on these babies which is a little disappointing but it just means I'll have to use the computer with the 32 inch Samsung LCD TV via DVI...

Rev A vs. Rev B glossy displays & keyboards

There is really no glare at all on my screen, I think they have improve the anti-glare on these new glossy screens.
Le

If any of you have a rev A MBP (glossy) and a C2D MBP (glossy), do you notice any difference in the amount of glare from the displays?

Also, is there any difference in the feel of the keyboards?

Thanks!

Apple Sells A DVI to S-Video/Composite Video Adapter

While the separate video port is missing, Apple sells an inexpensive DVI to S-Video/Comsposite Video adapter.

What hard drive size, make and model do you have in there?

Man, way to ruin peoples parade. "Sorry. Linear."
And resale value won't be affected, I guarantee most people won't care what brand HD is in your MBP, just size.
And sorry for saying, but I bet the performance isn't all that different either, just some people being caught up in what they percieve to be big news.

Be happy with whatever drive you got, Apple wouldn't sell it if it was as ****** as Multimedia is trying to portray it. Not that I understand why he makes such a fuzz about it anyway..

That's the only disappointment I've had, so far (just opened this baby up 1/2 hour ago! )

Guess that the Monster A/V cables I used with my TiBook will be donated to family members using "old" Apple technology.

BTW, this 2.33GHz MBP is the fastest computer I've ever used, came with a flawless screen, is absolute-dead-silent, and runs cooler than any Apple notebook I've ever used (except for a 500MHz iBook)! I couldn't be more thrilled with my C2D - the most worthwhile "wait" I've ever endured!

:D :D :D

Yep flight 139 :D I love glossy screens on laptops so its all about personal preference and use I guess. BTW, should I drain the battery right off the bat and then recharge it to get maximum performance?

DVI conversion

Hey Multimedia (or anyone else) how is the quality on the DVI to S Vid converter? I have a VJ'ing gig where image quality is important and I have to tie into a Edirol mixer with S video.

I generally don't like the image quality on cheaper (sub $500) scan converters, anyone know of a good solution in that range?

Mine has been in bloody Arnhem hub since yesterday at 4pm ! Stupid tracking thing.

Are all Apples notebooks made over in Shanghai? . . . have they always been made over in the middle east or are they now one of these companies that goes over there for cheaper labour etc etc.

Few Issues C2D

Long time lurker here and longer time Mac user..... :)

Got my 15" 2.33 Ghz C2D 2 days ago....machine is great, fast, cool, etc...

I've been having 2 problems - curious if anyone has similar issues:

1 - There is a harsh sound when inserting or ejecting media into the superdrive....how does your drive sound?

2 - My airport icon rarely shows full strength despite the fact that my airport express is 10 ft. away and 3 other computers in the house with airport cards show 100% strength....

Anyone having similar experiences?
