Anyone updated to the HIGH SIERRA and successfully fixed the problem using either fabio’s kext editing or the program called gpu fix by julian-poidevin? Thanks!

Yes, just installed High Sierra and ran the gpu patch tool.
Before the patch it crashes. After the patch it ran successfully. So I assume it is still working.

EDIT: I upgraded, didn't clean installed it. The SIP was still disabled after the High Sierra Upgrade

Hey guys,
I used this patch to great success about a year ago. But installed High Sierra has led to some problems.

I applied the patch and it seemed to go fine. But then the crashes started happening again. I tried running the patch again, and it alerted me that the AppleGraphicsControl.kext file was actually GONE. I tried replacing it with an old one from plain Sierra I had lying around, but the crashes are still happening.

Could anyone send me their AppleGraphicsControl.kext file from a stable High Sierra install? I think that would solve my problems.

Hey man, just PM'd you. Take a look. Hope it helps you.

Hello,

Where can I buy the capacitor (a good one) in Europe?

Thanks :)

(ebay.co.uk for example)

Hi everyone, I don't know why but email notification about this thread was disabled so I wasn't able to see all your queries about the program.

The program works fine on my MacBook on High Sierra but lastly some issues were posted on the GitHub project.

Can I have a summary of what's happening to you ? So far I see :
  • AppleGraphicsControl.kext deleted after updating to High Sierra
  • ...?
Also, we reach 7k downloads of the app, I'm so happy it helps people ! :). (But so far not a single one donation :().

Hello,

I use these (5 pieces) : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PANASONIC...251533&hash=item2a593a5fba:g:0mgAAOSwmrlUtsLq

One piece : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAP-ALU-E...251533&hash=item51bbb5fa72:g:6IEAAOxy4YdTPxfK

(I recommend to by at least 2 of them in case something goes wrong during the fixing process).

Thank you very much
[doublepost=1507587178][/doublepost]For all who want their macbook pro repaired, I strongly recommend changing the capacitor. Don't wait! My macbook pro was awful and any software could fix it. Now it's ok :):)

Thanks to everyone and in particular for those who discovered the problem and helped.

Just a question. I installed the High Sierra and sometimes my screen flickers when Nvidia turns on. :(
What's happening?

hi, to me too, Can you send me the file ? please!!!!

Hey man.
Sorry the delay. As poidevin, I also didn’t get notification about the posts.
I’ll see right now if I can send it to you, but I’m on a phone, so if it doesn’t work, I’ll send it tonight, OK?

So I ordered a couple C9560 capacitors to fix it myself. Can anybody share a picture of the logic board with the capacitor highlighted or marked in some way so I can effectively locate it? All the pictures I've seen are exploded view....I think I know which one it is but I would like to be certain and not "think" it was the right one.

Oh that's perfect! Thank you! Also, earlier in the thread, some were talking about removing the heat paste Apple put on the CPU and reapplying it... I think some said they used isopropyl alcohol? Is there a particular technique in removing it and what product is recommended in replacing it with?

You can just go to your local computer store and get a tube of CPU thermal paste.

I need your help

Since I changed the capacitor (and installed the High Sierra) that my screen blinks when the nvidia switches on. What's the cause? Bad welding, poor quality welding, High Sierra, Nvidia or motherboard?

Thanks

I think this is normal behavior... mine does it too, sometimes it's more noticeable than others... usually it's more noticeable just after a reboot. Maybe the cap needs a second to charge/warm up?

No....

I have fixed 11 machines so far and none of them exhibits this behavior.

What do you think it might be?

I think I used a poor electronic solder and I didn't use flux

I had the capacitor replaced in mine and there are no video artifacts when switching to and from the nVidia gpu.

Do you have the High Sierra?

I installed it by an unusual way. I formatted the hard drive and then the system downloaded the High Sierra from the internet

Most likely, bad soldering joints.

I would try again, this time using good solder and flux.
Clean the pads with copper desoldering braid to remove the bad solder.

I didn't want to have to reassemble the motherboard again, but I'm afraid this is ruining the computer :(

Is it important to use flux?

Are you sure your capacitor has been well soldered, good solder?

I have questions about my soldering (sn60pb40) ... but I don't want to do it all over again. How can a solder make so much diference when well soldered?
An high sierra problem when clean installed?
