uMatrix lets me choose what loads and it blacklists everything until you tell it not too.Ok, fair enough. I just use a no-exception adblocker though.
Two things i have no idea why people do a lot:
-use Chrome (memory hog, spyware, and overall just a piece of crap)
-dont use adblockers (even though most are free and there sre no drawbacks to using them, and people just wait out ads on Youtube, etc.)
Here's MacRumors. Third party sites are below, red is blocked, green is approved.

There's nothing to show below that because loading of other stuff is dependant on the stuff not approved to load first. So, I never see any of this stuff.
BTW, I'm using Vivaldi. I like/prefer browsers that allow me to customize things my way. I'm in front of a computer pretty much for 16+ hours a day. Vivaldi is chrome based, but has the addons I mentioned earlier.
