I've been trying to get HDMI audio on a hackitosh with an Asus GTX 660TI for so long, searched forums, tried several times alway failed, but your guide and script worked like charm. Just tried it now and haven't noticed any issues. Great work

Oh no! I wired my computer to my A/V receiver and figured that this would work forever... and of course 10.9.2 breaks it. Is there anything we can do to get a new version of this kext or edit it so that I can enjoy HDMI audio on my Mac Pro?

I am currently looking into it. However, I am not succesful in isolating this issue.

I may need IORegistry dumps from some of you.

Good news! I've been able to isolate the issue.

There is also added support for AMD Graphics Cards and DisplayPort (if your card supports it). To avoid any confusion, I've decided to change the name of the extension to HDMIAudio.

Please refer to the original post for updated instructions. The new install script will automatically remove NVAudio from your system.

Awesome!! You are amazing andrejkw! Thank you so much! I'm running a hackintosh with a GTX 760 and audio works again through hdmi. I was trying other guides that had you add a ssdt and patch dsdt etc but I could not get that to work for the life of me.

Just want to add that it works perfectly with my AMD HD 6870 (EFI-flashed) card as well. The audio option would appear using either the HDMI or mDP port, and it's nice to finally have the audio option on an unofficial AMD/ATI card. Many thanks to the OP's excellent work.

Working perfectly for HD7970

Now I have HD7970 100% working for my Mac Pro 5.1. HDMI audio contributed this. Now I have boot screen, super Open CL performance, 5.0GT linked speed. Thanks a million!!

It's kinda odd that some random person on the internet can fix a problem so fast; a problem the manufacture of the product doesn't even support.

Password issue

I tried to reinstall this kext after upgrading to 10.9.2 (HDMI lost) but could not get past the password input in Terminal - whether logged in as Admin or User with Admin rights, the password was refused. Changing to no password did not help.

I got around the issue by downloading Kextbeast from Tonymacx86.com (the Hackintosh forum - I knew all those years of Hackintoshing would come in useful some day!) and, after restart, HDMI once more appears in Sys Prefs->Sound and works fine. Kexbeast is available in the Downloads area of that site, and membership is required to download it. My 2009 Dual CPU is flashed to 5,1 but the kext is still required.

The kext appears in System->Library->Extensions. Image attached.

I did not bother removing the older NVAudio kext and it does not appear to conflict with the new HDMIAudio one.

The card is a flashed (boot screen) EVGA GTX680.

Not working

I am on a 2006 Mac Pro running 10.9.2 using Tiamo's boot.efi file. I have a GTX 570 installed and my Samsung TV is connected via mini-HDMI to HDMI but I am not getting any audio. I ran the script, rebooted and now I see an output device in the setting called Samsung but when selected I don't get any audio from the TV. I am not sure what to try here so any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need anymore information. THANKS!

EDIT:

Nevermind, I for some reason switching HDMI ports on the TV made it work and then when I went back to the original port on the TV it is now working great. Thanks for putting this together!

+1. This is the icing on the cake, with a flashed Radeon HD7970 in my cMP 4,1 –> 5,1.

Before, in System Info it said

Monitor-Controller: driver installed = Yes
ATY,HamachiParent: driver installed = No

With HDMIAudio installed it reports Yes for both.

Connected a 37" Samsung TV as 3rd display via HDMI cable, and audio output works. Many thanks.

This was amazing. I know you made it for Mac Pros, but I figure a Hackintosh using Clover EFI would be a close enough match to try it out. I was having the hardest time getting HDMI Audio working on my Haswell build with a GTX 660 (using Clover) and it just wasn't going anywhere. I popped this into the appropriate folder and BAM HDMI Audio.

I tried this and it works great, however the volume control on the Mac stopped working. When I select my TV in audio out preferences, the control grays out and I have to control the volume from the TV. Is that supposed to happen? No big deal, just curiosity and a minor inconveneince.

10.9.3 (13D45a) breaks it again and HDMI doesn't show up in the sound preferences anymore. I don't know if previous beta builds kill it but this one does.

Can't confirm that. Here it does still show up in sound prefs and works. Just tested with MPlayer in 13D45a on a 2009 MP 5,1, HD7970.
