Delete Lion?

I am thinking about deleting Lion and using Super Duper to transfer my well behaved 10.8.3 installation into Lion's place.
Will 0.3 have that many improvements/fixes that I ought to wait till it comes out? Currently the only real problem with 10.8.3 is that Ethernet and Photo Booth don't work.
Thanks.

Availability of Time Machine

After installing ML through MLPostFactor i'cant solve the problem with the availability of a Time Machine and backup on it. The editing can be performed only through Configure Other in Airport Utility. Standart mounting way is not available. NFS Manager reports a DNS conflict. Please anyone for advice. Thanks a lot.

Found a viable solution for those who are unable to utilize either Little Snitch or Hands Off on their OS X 10.8.X install due to major incompatibility and/or kernel panic issues:

http://www.hanynet.com/icefloor/

*Note that the app is designed to operate/function with no kext extension installed.

It takes a bit of "know how" in specifying and implementing port allocation though seems to work very effectively once it is fine tuned.

My first post I'm afraid

I'm having a spot of trouble and I'm unable to work out what.

I have lion on my Mac mini , c2d 2ghtz, 3gb ram , 120gb SSD , bluray RW moded firmware 1.1 - 2.1.

So lions on

I have ML.app from the App Store

I have placed ML.app in the application folder

I have created 2 partitions

I have run the mlpostfactor

Now post factor is saying error , you do not have ML.app in the applications folder.

I placed the app in the link provided by the post factor app.

Thanks.

Installer disk doesn't show upon boot after installing MLPostFactor

Hey guys,
I have an Early 2008 mac, with X3100 graphics. I partitioned the disk in 3 parts, following the instructions. Installed MLPostFactor on install partition, and then restarted. While restarting, I held option to show the optional bootable disks, and the Install partition was not available, nor the ML partition. Is there any way i can make the Install partition bootable, so I can patch the installation to ML?

Thx,
Spencer993

Check out post 2193 in this thread for a zip file of all the 10.7.5 and DP1 files you need, as well as a shell script that will correctly backup the current files and install the right ones. I just tried it on 10.8.3 with MLPF 0.22 and it's working well.

What's on the INSTALL partition after the install?

There was a Hack folder, a tmp folder, a kernel_something, and another folder that I forgot. I erased the disk too soon, huh?

Spencer993

EDIT: I will re-install MLPostFactor and see what's in the Install partition
SECOND EDIT: Re-Installed, worked perfectly, don't know why it didn't work.

One more question, Can I erase the install partition after successfully booted into ML?

You can erase it, but it is a good idea to keep it as a recovery hd.

I installed onto an 8gb flash drive. It works well and is portable. I replaced the INSTALL partition with the flash drive.

Mac mini 2006 is core duo (or the lone mac they sold with core solo!), it can't go past 10.6.8 even with hacks. They are only 32 bit CPU.

I think you're right, and that's the only way to get those machines to run 10.7. After that update, I don't know if they can run 10.8 but I'd doubt it.

It has the same intel gma 950 graphics and most cpu upgrades that people do are the chips in the past core 2 duo minis

Last call for anyone with experience creating Fusion drives on unsupported systems....otherwise I'll chalk it up as impossible and move on to a not-as-elegant traditional two-drive setup. See my previous post:

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/17320865/
I'd also like to know if people have tried setting up a Fusion-type drive with MLPostFactor - something I'll definitely want to try (if it's viable) when I can afford a new SSD...

Upgrade to Lion and update to 10.7.5. if you have Core Duo or Core Solo its not supported.

I have upgrade CPU and memory, now i have Core2Duo and 2Gb of memory.
I have dvd disk with mac os 10.7 but i can't install it. Installation tell me, that i have unsupported hardware.
Now i have mac os 10.6.8
Do you known the way to install 10.7.5?

That is because it still has the old Firmware and the code is not in Lions approved list. There is a way around that. You delete one file. Let me fine a URL with the instructions and I will post back. I have a 2006 Core Duo Mini with a 2.16 C2D and 2GB RAM and have done this many times. BRB.

Ok the first post here will do it but I just on my mini deleted the support.plist they are talking about and it works great. If you upgrade to a newer point update you will have to go in again and redo either the edit of delete the plist.
