There is also another ML installer "iUTAMacinhackV10b2.dmg" I had it up to 10.8.4 at one point.

I have noticed the "iUTAMacinhack" option in searching for alternatives. I have never seriously considered trying it out as the person developing it clearly states that graphics are an issue (what a surprise) and his only solution/suggestion is the obvious in directing folks to dig into OS X 10.7.5, and use the appropriate kexts from there and then instructing to "report back findings". Coupled with the fact that it only had two releases (1.0 & 1.0 b2) then seemed to die a quick death indicated to me that it wasn't a very viable solution.

The best and truly most reliable OS X Mountain Lion hack ever created is without doubt is the bootloader/Mac Pro Mountain Lion hack which due to the ability to swap out and upgrade to Mountain Lion compatible graphics puts it in a whole other league. As I have said before from my experience on our iMac (2006) with ATI X1600 graphics when considering the rather negligible bump in performance (when compared with 10.7.5 Lion) coupled with no Little Snitch, no 64 bit, no Mountain Lion recovery drive to name just a few...well lets just say that I have not discovered a OS X 10.8 hack for Macs with inboard graphics that would ever work for me personally.

ATI Radeon HD 5870 need your help (MLPostFactor V0.4) ??

Yup.. its the Intel GMA 950. On my Mac Pro, Im using a AMD HD 5770. And that has no issues at all, The second card - Nvidia 7300GT was not recognized. The Mac Pro is the very first one that came out in 2006.. Mac Pro 1,1 with upgraded processors (8 core)

@hackerwayne you have done a great job (MLPostFactor V0.3), unfortunately, there is still a big problem.

1000 users of MacPro1,1 with ATI Radeon HD 5870 need your help. (and I also) :)

Unfortunately, the ATI Radeon HD 5870 does not want to work. The window do not switch after boot up for announcing and freezes.

Greetings

Project not abandoned, working on MVPF.

Just a heads up, i did not abandon MLPF project at all, currently working on MaverickPostFactor, whatever we did on MVPF will backport for MLPF when released. MVPF hacked files will not be released until at least 10.9 GM is out.

- No ETA on when MVPF will be out and don't ask. It will be released when its ready.
- An minor update called MLPFv0.3.1 will be released to patch out remaining bugs. v0.3.1 is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, September 6th 2013. detailed changelogs will be up shortly before release.
- Post #1 will be updated alongside with the launch of v0.3.1.
- No major improvements over v0.3. v0.3.1 will add support for many previously unsupported graphics card. As usual, these kexts are untested and may cause stability issues, installing it on primary system is not recommended.
- Last but not least, clean install is always recommended.

Just for the heads up, iUTAMacinhack is not an alternative, its just a repacked version of my v0.2.

Thanks a lot for doing this. I will install Mountain Lion on my MacBook and I guess I will install 10.9 then when the 10.9.4 is out too. Anyway, can I update things?

Great work Wayne.

I am just trying to install it on my iMac 2006 24", but after succesfully installing Mountain Lion and rebooting I get a blank grey screen. Then -> reboot -> option -> select ML drive -> see crossed circle/not allowed.

More with this problem?

Where did you get your Install OS X Mountain Lion.app from? The file is corrupted.

Thank you for your feedback. I forgot to go to utilities and mlpostfactor after the installation was finished.
I didn't get "Installation failed" though. I used v0.3. Now it works...Perfectly, I must say and it's also fast. There isn't even any lag! I use MacBook white (early 2008) and with 6GB of RAM… Launchpad and everything works perfectly and quickly
Can I update?

You're obviously not aware that the date you refer to doesn't exist Wayne......

Running 10.8 system software update is not recommended as it might break things.
Alright, but I have a question… When 10.8.5 will come out do I have to reinstall the operating system or how does the update exactly work? Could you describe it more on your website or in your first forum post…Because honestly this thread is a mess for me.

I installed security updates and new iTunes without any problem. Can I remove Lion and use it as my main operating system or it's not recommended?

Its technically like jailbreaking your iPhone. You lose the ability to update system version.

a dmg copy means its not obtained legally. A legally obtained Mountain Lion is a .app file.

Hey all, if you have been helped by this thread I urge you to chime in on your opinion of starting a dedicated Mac Repair thread here. Modding macs might also be a part of the sub-forum. If you are against the idea, or don't feel the need for a dedicated forum to repair macs, your opinion is helpful too. I am just trying to see if a lot of users think it is a decent idea or not. Please also note that I am not affiliated with Macrumors or their moderation team in any way. This is simply a users idea, and may not come to reality. Either way, your opinion would be appreciated. Simply trying to gauge interest at this point!

Thanks!
Thomas

I know and that's why I asked when 10.8.5 comes out then I have to install the OS again or I can wait for MLPostFactor v0.4 and update with it without reinstalling the OS?

Please, support Fusion Drive

Hello, I can't made up fusion drive on my 2008 macbook.
When i made fusion drive, crash at 80%, so I made my macbook's fusion drive by my iMac (target disk mode)

It was ML installable, But not bootable. (my macbook can't boot with fusion drive)
I used CCC(I installed MLpostfactor v0.3 only SSD(It is bootable) and I backup by CCC to my imac's drive, and I made Fusion drive on my macbook, and I restore it.)
but results was same.

so, please patch MLpostfactor.

ps. I replace my IDE ODD to HDD (by use second bay - SATA TO IDE), and replace SATA HDD to SATA SDD

edit:

now i'm running os x 10.7

I've downloaded os x 10.8 via a torrent and have the "InstallESD.iso" file

when I try to run MLPF, I get the errors "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app not found" Please put the app into your Applications Folder, and restart MLPF.

so I opened the .iso, and dragged the cd/disk icon into my Applications folder, still same error

do I need to view "package contents" and drag another file? any ideas?

thanks

clicking the .app works fine on its own so I don't think its corrupt

@marlado, I don't think it's a good idea to talk about this openly on the forum. I sent you a PM.
