thought I read somewhere that torrents are fine? do I need os x directly from the app store?

clicking the .app works fine on its own so I don't think its corrupt

Please please please, it's been said OVER AND OVER, you need a 100% original Mac App Store bought copy of ML. Nowhere does it says a copy is ok too, because it ISN'T.

for those wondering, I got it to install

instructions say os x 10.7 is needed, but MLPF 0.3 wouldn't work until I upgraded to os x 10.7.5

now im having more problems. google chrome is unusable. can browse but thats it. cant get into its settings or open new tabs without it force closing. (dev and stable version)

also tried to install an app from a .dmg that I was using on 10.7 and getting "no mountable file systems"

I didn't think I would have problems once I installed 10.8. just put in 4gb ram and a 128gb ssd on a macbook 4,1

boot time is also slower than on 10.7 ...... are these problems normal? from reading the thread it seemed everyone was running like it should

I have a Mac Mini 2,1 running OS X 10.7. I have created the required two extra partitions and placed the Install ML.app and MLPostFactor in the Applications folder. I zapped the PRAM and ran Disk Utilities to repair permissions. But every time I run your app, a dialogue box comes up saying that I need to put the ML.app in the applications folder then restart the app. The legitimate Install Mountain Lion.app (4.46GB) is in the Applications folder along with MLPostFactor 0.3
What am I doing wrong?

same problem I had. you need to do the software upgrade to 10.7.5

anyone know anything about the "no mountable file systems" error when trying to open a .dmg?

Eeeewww, there's the problem. I upgraded the processor from a C2D 1.83 to a C2D 2.0 and upgraded the firmware from 1,1 to 2,1. There is a problem with the Combo update to 10.7.5, I get a circle with slash at startup when I do the update.

Have an issue when trying to install. My iMac 5.1 has 10.7 in Spanish. I have the .app file in the Applications folder, but when I open your application it shows an error due to it can't find the "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app".
After checking it's in the Applications folder, I realized the first word is in spanish, so when I try to rename the .app file from "Instalar OS X Mountain Lion.app" to "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" it doesn't let me and Mac renames the file again to "Instalar OS X Mountain Lion.app".
Any idea how to fix this?

Many Thanks!

First, make sure you're on 10.7.5. Second, change your OS language temporarily to English as the MLPF checks for many things (thats named in English) before proceeding, if its in any other languages other than English installation *might* fail.

Install 10.7.5 from scratch. I assume when i say 10.7, it means 10.7.5 from the app store also, you can't get 10.7.0 without pirating it.

Is there an chance that the SMB issues will be fixed in 0.31 (not being able to access sucres on a server)?

Many thanks,
Craig

Unfortunately SMB is working but unstable (its working in 0.3 but we intentionally disabled it as it causes random Kernel Panics), unless we can solve this it won't be available on 0.3.1.

Thanks hackerwayne, doing that upgrade right now. For your second change, how do I change the OS language? I know how to change the keboard, etc but not the entire OS...
Thanks.

Forgive me for being a bit of a noob - I have been reading through the various pages of this thread - but it is approaching 200 pages now, so I haven't read everything.

I have a Macbook 3.1 (13" Late 2007) which I would like to upgrade to 10.8. I'm following the procedure for doing the upgrade - and I don't have any problems getting everything put together to do the upgrade.

But has anybody with a Macbook 3.1 performed this upgrade? How well does it work? What works? What doesn't work?

Thanks!

Surprisingly it works even better than Lion =D Personally I have MacBook White Early 2008, but I installed it on 2007 too, which is my friends. It works nicely.
I use it as my main OS. Silly me.. I upgraded it from Lion and most probably can upgrade it from 10.8.4 to 10.8.5 too. So I dont have to do clean install :)
Works perfectly…Only iCloud doesnt work. Syncing doesn't work, but everything else works well.

Regarding Chrome: I have had that issue too.
Try repairing your permissions. I just repaired mine twice and I noticed an OpenGL kext getting repaired ... and voila: Chrome working :)

Did anybody manage to create a working Recovery HD with ML on it?
I think this is the reason why FileVault is not working. At least this is the error I am getting ...

iMessege don't work - ML 10.8.3

On my macbook pro 2.2 installed ML 10.8.3 via mlpostfactor 0.3 (with 10.8.4 I have a wifi problem)
icloud, bonjure work properly. But iMessage won't work.
In terminal I run:
Code:
sudo nvram 4D1EDE05-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B38C14:MLB=[B]MY_MACBOOK_SERIAL[/B]123456
Serial have 11 symbols (numbers and letters) and I added it to the end of the 6 random numbers (17 symbols at all)
Then reboot.
iMessage don't work. How can I make it work?

p.s.:
1) ML 10.8.3 downloaded from torrents (it's installed successfully)
2) I have appstore FREE account (credit card is not attached)

Thanks.

That is some weird stuff, because iMessages worked for me instantly. No joke…
iCloud still doesn't work…

I still can't get iMessage to work. Does this give anyone any clues to why?

64 bit Mountain Lion installation (BIOS [efi being somehow included])

I received so many pm about this, that I finally decided to provide some (basic) help.

IMPORTANT: maybe hackerwayne is already far beyond and his technic is much more straight forward, so you probably should wait until his next big release!

advanced users ONLY, you may damage your system (possibly hardware?) => your OWN risk … read EVERYTHING and prepare yourself when trying - this is only basic advice, you may need to look up how to do things; it's good to have a bootable LION on USB
Bildschirmfoto20130812um02.47.43.png

this only appeared using Clover!, could not get Chameleon to work with X1600 at all. no issues when apple-efi booted.
This ONLY makes sense for some MacBook Pro or iMac using X1600 GPU, and MacPro with upgraded/64bit driver enabled GPU! - any other system won't work for daily usage (no graphic acceleration)
(Works with FUSION DRIVE. No disk encryption unless you create a (fake) Recovery HD. NO ADVICE HERE - google)

Opposed to all the warnings. If you have some (advanced) os x knowledge and don't mind using the terminal, google for How-Toos it's fairly easy. (I started from close to zero, too.)
The Bios way using a single drive configuration (like most macs):
should work using LION/SL; jump to 3 when having BOOTCAMP
  1. add partition (as small as possible [50mb+], best using terminal.app
  2. sudo diskutil eraseVolume MS-DOS "BOOT" /dev/disk0sX !!!be carefull, run diskutil list to check what X stands for (possibly 3 or 4)
  3. Clover: install to BOOT using options: "to esd", "boot first founded EFI partition" (you may replace complete content of ESD with Chameleon/chimera files - included)
  4. rudimentary config.plist edits (SMBIOS MacBook Pro 3.1 ~best) edit using "Clover Configurator.app" (OSX86.net) - further edits: test yourself (probably graphics section)
  5. possibly you need to bless the "BOOT" partition (search web)
  6. boot SL/LION using Clover (option key, efi boot menu entry "Windows")
  7. purchase ML
  8. make stock USB-ML-installer (not user whether it works by running the app)
  9. boot install USB, install (to USB, over Lion, partition)
  10. boot ML
  11. (modify GL/CL - X1600 only, add kext) may be extracted from (kext from LION, GL/CL may be extracted from MLPF.app) when you do not have sound install latest VoodooHDA (OSX86.net)
  12. don't know about older MacPro GPU! - no edits for ML-compatible ones, some pc ones may work with the right Clover/Chameleon config
  13. (not necessary)mod boot.efi/PlatformSupport.plist etc. for non-bios boot (hackerwayne ones provided those files in the past; if you have them your good to go)

Graphic issues are related to the BIOS rom of my GPU (same on Windows XP-7 and Linux Ubuntu). NO hardware fault/damage. I have them ever since.

You may replace the content of the EFI partition with my preconfigured files: They are supposed to work (only deleted some custom hardware settings, unnecessary files).
If you want to try them later/modify the config.plist the EFI can be mounted using the "Clover Configurator.app".

I hope it will help at least some of you.

Dear hackerwayne:

Sorry other friends , because my English just so so , below wrote in Chinese language

您好,之前跟您联系过,知道您看的懂中文,故用中文反映下列情况,请协助:

1、在10.8.3 MLPF v0.22时,Magic Mouse 在偏好设置内『鼠标』可以显示正常,S/L/PreferencePanes/Mouse.prefPane 是12.0版本的

10.8.3.png

2、但是使用了 MLPF V0.3时,无论在10.8.3 或是 10.8.4 下,就会不正常(没有显示Mouse.prefPane包中的 /contents/Resources/touchMovie.MOV),经过比较,在V0.3版本时,将此档更改为11.0的旧版

还在期待您9月6号公布新版本,能将此问题协助解决吗?谢谢!
