Hi, is there anyone using macbookpro2,2 with X1600 here?

Can you enter the login screen normally?

I can only see the grey linen background, there is no any account item there, just empty.
The brightness and volume is adjustable, but nothing else can be done, need to be forced to shut down.

This problem won't happen when booting in safe mode (press shift key during booting), but most driver won't be loaded.

Just want to make sure if this only happen to me or maybe relate to hacked kexts or OpenGL for X1600.

Hi HackerWayne. First of all this way was muuuuuuch simpler than the first way. The two of you did great work. My only question now is the aftermath. I have three partitions on my laptop now, my original Lion, the ML Installer, and the ML Drive itself I am now using. Would I be able to get rid of at least the ML Installer partition? And how can I merge my data from the Lion partition over and get it all back to just one drive? I can access programs and everything fine but it seems like it could be a hassle at some point going across partitions.

First of all, thanks for trying to help our cause !

I own a macbook 4,1 with a X3100 graphics card, and at that time nobody from apple told me to wait a couple months or consider a different model.

Anyway, I wonder whether I can install ML to work normally with this card,
either on 32-bit or 64-bit environment ?

With your latest tutorial will everything work fine ? or I should wait for future 64-bit drivers for X3100 ?

You can get rid of all partitions except the ML, as for data, you can use Migration Assistant.

I am trying the /hack.command but I get the no such file or directory error. I have a Black Macbook 2.4 GHz and I tried it using mlpostfactor. What should I do?

You didn't name the partitions correctly.

X1600 is not supported by MLPostFactor at the moment. Support coming in V0.3 Beta

What is that i'm doing wrong.

I have created a pen drive as per the previous instruction.
I did NOT downloaded the x1600 files.
I installed a HD 5870 this recognized as so in 10.7.5 and it does give me a boot screen.
I erased the previous installation of ML I did from the 2nd partition.
Installed ML on the second partition all according to the guide.
Got the error screen at the end.
Boot in Lion and copies the plist file in Coreservice folder.
Reboot the system and got the apple logo at the gray boot screen and I see my mouse.
Then this screen goes away and the screen goes black with only in the upper left corner one character high white/gray block. That will blink every now and then.

I booted in verbose mode!

The hack is designed to work on 10.8.2. Not 10.8. You can try the installation with MLPostFactor. But note that this is designed for 32bit kernel extensions.

Are there still the problems with lack of full graphics support with the garbled Mission Control desktop previews and sluggish Launchpad opening? Been thinking of trying it again, but I don't want to do it all again if the same problems still exist. Thanks for any replies.

i have install osx mountain lion.app in my application folders ...

my question though is how does one legally obtain ML 10.8.2 when Mac App Store has been updated to ML 10.8.3 ?

guess might have to wait some more until the hurdles of 10.8.3 have been overcome.

Unzip the main package, then unzip Script file (you must use a Mac for this) then its self explanatory from there

My computer has a kernel panic each time i try to wake it from sleep after installing 10.8.2 on my mac 4,1 x3100 with your new program. When it tries to wake it has a back screen then i have to restart. Im also unable to verify or repair permissions, says missing package. Is the x3100 suppose to be able to sleep? Thanks

Same here, with my MB 4,1.
To fix repair permissions, download combo 10.8.2, install, boot at the ML Install partition, open terminal and type: /Hack.command

Using MLforAll hack v2 this fix works, but using MLPostFactor give me a error at the end of installation..

because you didn't follow the instructions clear enough. This has been addressed multiple times.

1. You're using a non-legit copy of Mountain Lion. (AKA, only the DMG file. the full 4.37GB .app file is required not the one inside the DMG/ISO/whatever. )
2. Its not in the Applications folder.

Mmm yesyerday I find the original.app file in my father macbook pro..
I copy it in my application folder and it occupate 4.37 gb...
But it does't work ...
