Mac Pro 1,1

I just bought a Mac Pro 1,1 for seriously cheap on ebay, and cannot wait to try this method. I've been reading through this thread all day but please forgive me if I have missed something.

Have the issues with Facetime, iMessage, iCloud etc been fixed?

Also, will I be limited to only 4GB of RAM if I choose to do this?

Thanks for your patience with me if you've been asked these Qs a thousand times already...

Guys, 2 things. 10.8.4 is not supported at the moment, its not even out yet, so it might lead to piracy. WiFi issue is a known issue, It cannot connect to any authenticated network. Stay on 10.8.3 and be happy.

Limited to 8GB not 4. 64-bit no iMessage, FT and iCloud. 32-bit those things works.

So could you please explain your steps to get AFP running? My AFP currently only allows read access to the MLPostFactorED Mac.

Thank you!

If you follow eep's guide correctly, it should be working.

Update:
For those running 10.8.4 (Regardless which version)

Do not post the following issues, these are known issues. (Keep the thread clean :) )

*WiFi
*Graphics glitches

Thanks

OK thanks a lot for replying so soon. I guess when the new 64 bit version is out these bugs might be taken care of? Was hoping to max out the RAM with 32GB, do you think the future version of MLPF could allow for this or is that beyond the realm of possibility?

Definitely possible. Just need some time to look into it.

I'm looking into doing this - does this create a dual boot machine - one my existing lion with all my stuff and a mountain lion partition that I can choose at boot?

Yes, it does exactly that. I had my MacBook set up so that holding the Option key at boot let me select Lion, Mountain Lion, or Windows(Boot Camp).
Have fun.

Just hoping Wayne can see this and reply, not sure if he missed it the first time:

Registered here just so I could say that as a Mac Pro 1.1 (HD 5880) owner I thank you for what you're doing. While I am eager to try and do this right now, it seems that the release of MLPostFactor 0.3.

How close is MLPostFactor 0.3 Wayne? It seems like if it's only a week or so away, I will just happily wait for the benefits of the new version. :)

Video Flicker

I'm using a MacBook 4,1 with the x3100 chipset. When playing video through Quicktime or anything that utilizes it the video has a bad flickering problem. Is there any fix for it while using the current release?

Maybe VLC will work for you.

I have not replied to u ab imessage is because I can register with my 2 apple ids but then I get a messg to contact apple support with a code
What issues did u have yourself???
Ps that is on both my fujitsu and hp probook
At least on fujitsu now I can register while b4 I kept getting error check your network connection

What ever I did I kept getting the error that there is a server side problem and that I should try again later...
Already tried using a valid key from a supported MacBook Pro, but this did not change anything...

Also tried migrating an account from 32bit Mountain Lion to 64bit resulting into the same issue.

Non of the other tricks out there like signing in simultaneously on another device did the trick.

Seriously running out of ideas...

________
@Hackerwayne: What about releasing a "Developer edition" with the modded files only and the changes which were made being documented?

I think the idea of a developer edition goes against the concept of Apple trying to quash these efforts - if they see how this works, then they'd easily be able to stop it in the future.

What I was really posting about though is that my iMessage works fine on my MacMini 2,1 running ML. Previously I built an ML hackintosh, when I did that I found that if I imported data from a real Mac then iMessage got broken. I never found a fix, and instead reinstalled, without importing data, and iMessage was fine on it.

Both myhackintosh are now working with imessage :)
I used chimera 2.1 bootloader which unfortunately does not work on a real mac
It created a nvram plist file in my extra folder and now imessage works
What I did also I signed in imessage on my iphone before signing in on laptops
Make sure your ethernet is set to en0 otherwise it wont work
I also have in my bootplist this

<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
<string>Yes</string>

There is something you can maybe read about clover and nvram plist

here

Delete Folder after installation

It is possible to delete these folders that are on the system disk after installation? Or must remain there for the operation?

Hide those pesky but necessary folders

It is possible to delete these folders that are on the system disk after installation? Or must remain there for the operation?

You can hide these folders using Terminal.
Open Terminal, then type chflags -h hidden and then add a space with the space bar. Drag one of the folders you want to hide to the Terminal window, then press return.

If anyone's curious, the latest version of Chrome seems to have fixed the stability issues when switching tabs. Safari still flickers like crazy so I've now made Chrome my default browser.

You could also use "Funter" to hide or unhide files from the Menubar.

Unfortunately, Funter is an all-or-nothing approach. It doesn't show or hide individual files or folders.
Also, it won't help with hiding files that are already visible.
Looks like a nice and simple app otherwise :)

Yep, I hadn't thought of that when I wrote.

also i'm using 10.8.3 for over 1,5 month now and i'm completely satisfied with how it's working and as my mac has a small hd could i erase the lion partition,i'm sure i'll never return to lion again so i don't see the point in keeping it ... thank you :)
